  • any tab for this?

  • amazing g uitarist, its just too bad his voice isnt all that rough when he sings... aside from that, modern day blues legend, last of a dying breed.

  • I think Joe will admit this himself but his playing style and space within and between his riffs is a lot more mature nowadays than it was back then. His tone and capabilities makes the best recipe for a blues player but you need to leave space in the track.

  • Yeah does anyone know what pedals/amp he's using?

  • @sk8rbuoi from what i've noticed at concerts.. marshal amps. i havent been quite close enough to see his pedals.

  • GREAT! What is his equipment????????????????????

  • @mariosmetradio Marshal Amps often. thats what i've seen at his concerts. Enjoys the Gibson Les Paul guitars..i dont think he enjoys the fender as much but he also has some custom guitars which i really enjoy.

  • lol he looks like a nerd untill he starts to play (H)

  • did he go down to the crossroads? lol

  • whats the tuning here, drop D?

  • @estcstkevin open.

  • Joe must have sold his soul to the devil!

  • Holy shit can this guy play! Just amazing.

  • 25 people don't know shit.

  • He looks and sounds like John C. Reilly (aka Dewey Cox). Joe does jam!

  • Pure talent that guy... i could watch/listen to him all night

  • aint this the fat kid that jerry cantrell used to make fun of awhile back hey jerry what the fuck man this guy is good way better then you

  • What the fuck man. That's not fair how good this dude is

  • Oh shit!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • damn that was great

  • hey guys!- you should check out Joe's new Christmas Song!- download it for free on our channel!

  • The G.O.A.T in my opinion

  • Wait until he starts getting older and finally slows down.... Then he'll REALLY-be good.

I wonder what pedal he's using there. Sounds like a boutique Fuzzface clone, which makes sense because it sounds like my Throbak Fuzz Haze (even more than my AM NKT Sunface) and I'm getting not just fuzz tones, but also these really-dynamic overdrive tones as well (with the pre-gain switch on). It's the most-versatile FF clone I've ever tried. Great onstage for cutting through a band-mix. LOVE that pedal.

  • listen to the voice hell its kermit the frog

But he can play like no one else

  • Joe is a superb guitar player and a real gentleman, but I still think that Guthrie Govan has him - and practically everyone else, as a pure 'player' - covered.

  • @azmarkus

i'm huge fan of guthrie govan but music isn't the olympic games

  • @azmarkus haha yeah right

  • @MrVoiceofreason123 Brilliant comment.

  • Amazing guitarist.

  • Thanks Joe.

  • joe bonamassa, proving that there is still some hope for the music industry, that its not all cunts in suits recording good looking people with no talent.

  • he looks like he has down syndrome. great guitarist though

  • He's right up there with Clapton, SRV, Moore and all the others. If not better.

Wonder what he'll sound like in 20 years.

  • Damn....somebody pick my jaw up off the floor....

  • i can play like that with my foot - shoes on.

  • Joe's right up there with Ry Cooder...

    F-n awesome...

  • thats the most kick-ass 30 seconds of slide playing Ive seen! go JOE!

  • like a finger-condom XD

  • ever every my mistake .still 19 people got it

  • sexy

  • that slide shit was amazing

  • @jessyka89music I thnk he does somethiing similar on 'One of These Days' from his sloe gin album

  • JB is seriously one of the best blues rock guitarists in the world! He's also incredibly intelligent

  • thanks for helping us spread the word friends. Please go to Joe's Official Channel and subscribe!

  • @risingsun1987 JImmy page?

  • he looks like dwight schrutt from the office! but he play that guitar really nice!

  • Comment removed

  • @ralphe01 what from scary movie 2 ? lol :D

  • Joe reminds me on Mike teutul.

  • @mistad00m

I'd just like to say that Joe has openly admitted to being the 'line 6 POD of guitar players'.

I can tell its Joe from 4 notes. I suggest you check out some more recent videos of him to see what he really can play like. Because this guy has an amazing talent and he knows what he's talking about. Everything has been repeated at least once at some point in modern music.

    Joe AND Derek are talents.

    End of.

  • Does anyone know if he's playing that slide part in standard tuning???

    Thanks

  • @MrElbutcho Open E dude.

  • @ntrbluesx Thanks!!!

  • he looks like a nerd guy or something, but when he starts playin, he's fucking amazing! he inspired me to take guitar lessons again

  • Joe has the speed of modern style guitar (e.g. Vai, Satriani) but the soul of a true blues man

  • @shredr18 did u just say modern syle guitar and use vai and satch as examples?

  • @bengrockson ...yes? can you read?

  • @shredr18 Yet Joe Bonamassa does not have a soul.

  • @shredr18 you are the best......

  • That slide is frekin crazy! Derek Trucks status!

  • @tylerdwells Bonamassa cant even compare to derek Trucks on slide, come on!

  • @avidgolfer08 your right but you gotta admit it was pretty sweet!

  • @tylerdwells Yea, he is pretty damn good. And I like his music better.

  • too much clapton and eric jonhson in his tone and playing.

  • @mistad00m I've been seeing more people continually make this comment as if it were an arguing point or something noteworthy to mention. You give the guy flack for incorporating influences into his playing when I see it as a plateau of achievement. That's like trash talking SRV for gaining a strong influence from Albert King. His playing isn't suitable enough because he can mimic the intensity Albert created or the awe striking ability of Jimi Hendrix, right?

  • @thinkANDcreate

    influences vs. riffs and licks.

    they're two different things alltogether.

he even copies licks clapton plays note by note.

SRV had his own unique style, unmistakable when you heard it. the tone, the feeling, the little subleties. he used 13 or 14 gauge strings.

  • @mistad00m you don't hear the tone, feeling, or subtleties in his playing? I'm not arguing the point of Joe vs Stevie because SRV is in what I call my holy trinity and I don't think you're even getting my point. If you don't see it, then you're missing out. What you need to consider is that if guys like Clapton, BB King, and Eric Johnson felt he was "stealing" their material, don't you think they would say something about it instead of being his friend, sharing the stage, or recording songs?

  • @mistad00m you have lost. Thanks though it was a good try.

  • Ohh Yeah!

  • nice sounding guitar he has there, sounds a lot like jimmy page's les paul

  • what's his gear?

  • JOE BONAMASSA SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE.

  • I like this guy..... Beats the sh** outta so many of the "shredder" posers

  • Damn this guy is a ripper. Incredible.

  • joe sei un grande ti ho visto a Genova!!!!!

  • JOE KNOWS TONE. thats what i like about his work

  • no offence to him or anything he is AMAZING!! but does anyone thinks he looks a bit like andy pipkins off little britainn?? (the i dont like it guy)

  • @08and90 You mean Matt, the only guy in the village... needs to be a bigger though and well yeah you might be right. Anyways he is amazing with a guitar.

  • There are many, many very, very good guitar vids on YTube. After yrs. of watching and enjoying them, I have to say, THIS is the one for me. My favorite. Maybe not yours, but many of you share my opinion. I do not think he's god, or the best or whatever, but this riffage says everything I've tried and probably never will be able to say with a guitar. Thanx, Glen

  • I know it has nothing to do with the video but a fly just flew into my eye. What the fuck. I can't even chill here and listen to stuff without being harrassed by nature in my own room.

  • It just proves that you don't have to look like a rock star to kick some serious ass

  • shit shit, i accidently hit thumbs down.......Joe is the man!!!!! Sorry bout that

  • Anybody know if the slide bit he did was in an open or standard tuning? I just want to know before I go smash all my gear because its just pointless for me to play ever again. :)

  • that beginning solo is amazing

  • Nice licks!

  • nice fuzz effect !

  • so shit..... worst attack ever..... you guys jumped off the bridge too early.... sorry folks

  • @codehendrix agreed.

  • @MrMattTheKnife wow someone understands the blues....

  • Thats some really sweet sounding slide work!

  • he may be a nerd but he can still shred

  • @Ironsixx fuck shredding.... get beyond the fascination of shredding... its just like building a muscle..... whats the point if its not functional.... if it doesnt speak to the soul......

  • @srvaughan2 and i am here to rip your testicles off with my guitar

  • PLEASE DON'T USE gibson FOR THE BLUES!!!

  • @kingofskateop The best blues has been made on gibsons..

B.B King, Cream-Era Clapton, Duane Allman, Townshend's version of Young Man Blues, Jimmy Page, Lesly West, Young..

    Just to name a few.

  • @Nevarrus Yes but they were hollow bodies... + Cream is more rock than the blues... Page is the rocker... So Les Paul is a great guitar for Rock, but blues need some TWANG rather than a warm sound. Lots of jazz and blues players are using Teles...

  • @kingofskateop Blues is the same as rock in most aspects; You can't deny that Led Zep & Cream wasn't blues, all they did was amp it up a bit.

Also, it's an matter of taste, I really dislike the typical Fender "Blues" sound.

  • @Nevarrus Ofcourse it's matter of taste, I was playing with my Les Paul, but then I bought a Tele style Mike Stern sig. Yamaha, so I will sell my LP... Now I like tele sound.

  • @Nevarrus Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Richie Kotzen, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson, Joe Walsh, Rory Gallagher, David Gilmore, John Frusciante, Mark Knopfler, Robin Trower, Ritchie Sambora, Richie Blackmoore, Ry Cooder, Most Bonamassa, Most Clapton.....were predominantly Strat players. Just to name a few.

  • @dmb3305 I'm very well aware of who played Fender; However, most of them you can't call "Blues" Players.

Hendrix and Blackmoore both had a very "Unique" sound which wasn't the typical "Blues" Sound.

  • @Nevarrus Roy Buchanan played a tele...so did Jimi Hendrix just to name 2 =P

  • @smotpoker86 Hendrix used to play Strats though. :p

  • @Nevarrus hendrix played teles a lot in the studio although he did use strats almost exclusively live and used strats mainly in the studio

  • @Nevarrus i am a les paul man myself, but actually, most of the truly maginificent blues masters have used strats or teles..

  • @aektzis91 It's preference

  • @aektzis91 It's all about personal preference

  • Like it or not- the guitar is in his hands and that is where it will stay! I like his long time story and his getting out onto a world stage- he is great and still young. I hope he gets more people to notice the music he is making and helping keep going*

Proud to say I knew him when he was just starting out - seen him in our hometown opening for Jethro Tull. He was great-and getting better. Salute*

  • Fucking Hell!

  • Does anybody know what amp he is using on this video? Could I get this tone if i bought a marshal vintage modern amplifier

  • But do they have the voice and the song writing skills of Joe B? It takes more than a guy ripping over pentatonic licks to stick around for 20 years. He makes great friggen records.

  • alone fingers not pick; nice estile

  • can someone tell me what this guitar is ?

gibson les paul ....... ? much appreciated =]

  • @kingdamez

i mean the year, type etc.... =]

  • I like Joe B a lot and really like his slide style. But I wish he'd quit rippin' off EJ when he's picking his pentatonic licks. It's obnoxious anymore. As for versatility, it's still all blues. I can only handle small doses because it's so repetitive.

  • dammmmmm. dat cat can play huh, one of the more underrated guitarists

  • ignore gradey3 fukin spastic have u been to see joe coz he's amazing

  • great sound!

  • cool harmonies

  • Lol,

I guess you can't help it who you are and what you say.

    We'll just downvote you :P

  • where it just you saying I dont like this .that would be fine. but what your doing is calling it something its not because you clearly don't understand it .then failing to appreciate that its about your limitations.

  • And ever you tube page has some prick mouthing of about what he knows fuck all about .

  • @MUDSHARK111 uhhh what?

  • @MUDSHARK111 your sentence makes no sense.

  • his playing reminds me of page!!!

  • He seems like a nerdy type of guy but hell surpirse you when he tears that shit up.

  • @Gradey3 hehe acutally its the nerds who are good at guitar, since they're dilligent with their work

  • Dont recall Joe claiming to be Sonny Landreth??

  • Sonny is a bad ass slide player for sure! Joes is well on his way to becoming a bad ass also, we havent herd the best from joe just yet, give him time.

  • Pretty good - but no Sonny Landreth

  • yeah but that still doesnt make him 100% self taught. before danny, joe pretty much didnt know anything about country playing. and he was right, joe started at 4 and got classical training. he has had lessons bud. for the most part though, yes he is self taught.

  • yea. all i was saying is that when i talked to joe the first time and when asked he told me that he was self taught...joe's words not mine. he may have picked up on some stuff long the way like us all but last i checked he was a rock/blues player. anyways ...peace man, j

  • another self tought bad ass is a friend of mine named Philip Sayce check him out hes amazing. he used to jam at the brass elephant bar im Monrovia every thursday night, joe came down and jammed with him for three songs the vid is on youtube..a must see.

  • who cares he plays great.

  • COOOL :)

  • Is he using a different tuning?

  • @dapunkof1975 he's using open D tune. very useful tuning for slide guitar!

  • I think the problem is you! you jack ass retard lrob! hes 100% self taught. He plays just like the old greats cause hes got a huge heart and plays with feeling and ear. Gets your facts right first bud before you comment.

  • @purplejaybird joe bonamassa isnt 100% self taught idiot......he learned from a classical guitarist and from danny gatton......get YOUR facts right ya dunce!

  • has a zepplin feelin

  • And Gary Moore

  • waaooow ... every time he makes me have the same reaction ... ;-) Joe we would like to see u again in France .

  • mindblowing what a class act

  • one word.... Genius

  • Can you imagine walking into a mega shopping mall, and you find a guitar amp shop there, and you go inside and ask to try out a guitar and a marshall amp, and you play just what he played here, what would happen? People passing in the mall would flood into the music store and watch this boy with awe struck amazement, and would beg him to keep the guitar in hand and play for them more. The boy is so versital with any style of music he is in the mood for playing. Joe is the man, no doubting.

  • @moseseseseses

Exactly. I am kind of disgusted that people are using this video, and others, for a bunch of moronic comments. Take that garbage to a Craigslist forum. Joe B is is a class guy, and a truly great musician by any grown-up's standards. Yeah, he does not play like Slayer, but who wants to.....?

  • @moseseseseses

Well, most probably people at the guitar shop would be impressed as hell and a lot of other people as well, but I believe that most would not know what to make of such playing, because it is so far from the commercial pop crap on the radio that they are familiar with.

  • @moseseseseses walk in to a LOCAL guitar shop, not no corporate shop like best buy...and you hear people just as good as him, but not too many people will discover them...joe was at the right place at the right time, there are so many good players out there, but you havent heard them. joe is one of the few

  • @copeman89- Joe had the advantage of being a child prodigy and being mentored by blues greats. He's much better than your average guitarist, you will NOT hear people as good as him in a local shop. See him live if you havn't. His shows are spectacular.

  • @copeman89

LOL no way can you find people just as good as him in a local guitar shop

    you must be high

  • @infinityjet dude, i am high lol i take it back...i listened to his other albums other than the john henry and it blew me away

  • @copeman89

    LOL all good man

  • @moseseseseses PLease show me a video where he plays something other than the blues(don't get me wrong...I think he's bad ass at the blues but never heard him play anything other than)

  • @smotpoker86 Try woke up dreaming for one. He is a lot more than just a blues player. Loads of mixed genres in his playing. One of the things that make he music so darn good. Pickup a copy of his Hal Leonard DVD and then see what you think.

  • @smotpoker86 look up his song Django on the you and me album

  • @moseseseseses yea hes such a gifted player

  • i agree with you guys, i was just veiwing some of his other videos and he has more feeling in his playing in those than in this, hes really good though

  • It looks good, sounds good, but it's just missing something. Not sure. Missing soul or something. I admire his technical ability, but I'm not moved by his playing. But, he's a great player.

  • You're the first person I've seen who's said what I'm thinking. He kind of plays too many notes, like a shred guy. Sometimes a good note gets glanced over becuase he's playing fast, trying to get to the next one. He definatley lacks some soul in these videos. I think he seems a bit under pressure/awkward/stressed. That said, I don't have this problem with his records however, which I think are very understated in the guitar playing. I think his voice and vocal melodies are great.

  • I think the problem is that he is one of those players that made it when he was very young - I mean like 12.

I don't know for sure, but he probably took lessons. Unlike Clapton, Hendrix, Page, most of the blues greats, he probably knows the names of the notes and can read music.

Basically, I think this is derivative - he is copying the greats. Something is missing.

  • @Kastralis And he plays better then you ever will, imagine that.

  • ummm... okay?

i mean just look at him he acts like such a square there.

  • @Kastralis How is that even remotely related to looking gay? I'm sure you act super cool. Why are kids so stupid these days.

  • just because we use different wordings that makes us stupid?

I'm sure you still think gay means happy....

Today, gay can mean homosexual, disappointment or weird.

  • So if it means homosexual, disappointment, or weird, where did you get square from? That makes absolutely no sense, at all. English is not that hard to learn.

  • See now you cant find any argument so you are just being immature and nit picking.

  • during the slide stuff, it looks like hes using some kind of open tuning, is he?

  • I don't think so. When I've seen him live he goes into slide playing during a tune which is standard tuning. I think his knowledge and masterful technique allows him to things in standard tuning that most cannot.

  • thats only recently though. ive seen interviews where he said he almost always uses open E or a varation of it. he was told by someone (cant remember who) that its "cheating" and he should learn how to play in standard. so yes, NOW he plays in standard, but for this, its open tuning.
