You couldn't be more correct. Especially as you comment on the crowd going quiet as he plays...no other artist that I've seen can do that to an audience. Nice video. :]
But hey.. I'm directing a cover of Majesty Snowbird! Of course it won't anywhere near the magnifiscense of the songbird himelf.. but it's going to be good, so keep your eyes open for "Majesty Snowbird"!
I like how you talk about "I've made a lot of mistakes.." "all things go" "all things go" Those lyrics do vibrate differently in my eardrums I think. I especially like the end of "John Wayne Gacy Jr." where he whispers "and.. in my best behavior.. I am really just like him......" "look beneath the floor-boards for the secrets I have... hid." I get big time chills just thinking about it, and typing it now.
your views are unbeleivably similar to mine...unfortunalty i live i australia and it seems i will ever get th chance to see as you said, some of the most perfect music ever created. Lisening to sufjan actually sends chills down my spine, warms my heart and somehow lets me know everything is going to be ok... you are very lucky to have witnessed this , and hopefully as he is on his 27th state album he realises he has a huge fan base in Australia. great post
not only do you have the COOLEST record player of all time, you like the coolest artist of all time, and you're the most good looking guy of all time. :D
and you're so eloquent and passionate in your words. Very open. I like that in a person.
you have a genuine love for music - this speech is truly organic, truly passionate. almost nobody i know at school has even heard of people like sufjan (although there really are no people "like" sufjan, and when i'm asked to explain him its impossible to do in a way that makes me seem 'normal'. thankyou so much for putting an eloquent voice to some very complex emotions.
Sufjan Stevens is amazing, and i loce how you express how passionate and how music makes you feel. you always seem to capture the true feeling of every piece of music that you talk about. accually how i found your blogs was, i was looking up the video fidelity by regina spektor and i was supprised to see that you had felt the same way i did about the song and what the lyrics ment.
Keep up the great work! it's refreshing to hear someone articulate the intrinsic beauty of music into words the way you do. P.S. - My friends and I (who also watch this V-blog) happened to pass you near the bathrooms and see you enter one of the closed doors down the hall with an escort...out of curiosity...where did you go? The jealousy factor definitely amped up after we saw you go in, haha!
Thanx for posting the clips with this! I was in the 2nd row, a lot of people were blatantly recording up there too, and getting caught. managed to stifle any recording I was trying to sneak. As usual, you captured the moment well with this one. Sufjan live was the ultimate example and experience of what I love about music-in the same moment it was as if his voice was just one more instrument in the orchestra of sound while he himself seemed to be the conductor of the music altogether too.
