  • What is the highest note you have to hit in this piece?

  • Beautiful trombone playing. A must listen for trombonists of any style or level.

  • I just clapped at a computer screen...

  • Thanks for the try.As for me-Chicago-Barenboim-the Etalon!

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • SOBERBIO FANTASTICO

  • what is the point of a comment like that? both those guys are legends...

  • great- different-lovely stuff.

  • the best 'non-orchestral' performance of this piece soo far :) well in my opinion :P

  • I loved hearing this live. The Rafael Mendez Brass Institute is an incredible place to go.

  • A lovely arrangement, to be sure, but why put it in F major when the original is in E-flat? For the pedal Fs?

  • Probably. Pedal tones get to sounding kind of crappy the lower you go. So an F would be better than an Eb because it's easier to hit and it sounds better

  • That was awesome. I haven't heard a trombone section play that well in a long long time. Keep it up guys. Maybe you could bring your talent down under to New Zealand? How we say it in NZ "that was choice mate"

  • Lovely playing but there are a few things that bug me about this video.

First, while Larry Zalkind does a serviceable job, seeing Ralph Sauer play second here makes you wonder how it would have sounded with him playing lead instead. For my mind, Ralph is the most elegant, sophisticated player I've ever heard -- and my former teacher.

And, Neptune just doesn't work for trombone. Too choppy and fragmented.

  • Serviceable? Zalkind's as good as it gets.

  • My cat's breath smells like cat food

  • Zalkind is too heavy. I love his playing, but it cold have blended in more with the rest. Those high D's and whatnot are not hard to hear at a slightly softer dynamic.

  • TROMBONE POWER!

    XD

  • Who was this arranged by?

  • Ralph arranged it if I remember correctly.

  • Sounds GREAT!!!

  • Could not ask for better trombone players, or a more beautiful song.

  • I love this piece, and that was a really great arrangement. Nice job.

  • this was probably the best run of this piece... such an awesome week!

  • That was a memorable concert! Definitely going back next year again.

  • amazing. Nimrod sounds so much better played by mellow low brass than high screeching flutes.

  • beautiful

  • wow, this is exquisite. I am a huge Larry Zalkind fan, he is amazing.

  • Larry Zalkind is my Trombone teacher.
