I liked the Wild Goose. Great machine, it handled well and it could take a beating. The grip rating on this is average so it did fine for me, and you could boost repeatedly in this machine without stopping.
Yes, you definitely had to be careful when coming out of the pipe in Green Plant - Intersection as being on the wrong edge of the tube spelled out bad news for you.
I thought the DEEP CLAW (OCTOMAN) was the best as it had a good all round balance and being a fairly expert driver that didnt get into trouble much the C rating for shield or boost didnt bother me.
i got something VERY similar on Gran Turismo 1 on my old PS1. I remember finishing side by side and in the end i won by 0.001. Iv also got VERY close on GX too but not quite that close!!!
Pico is definately not the best option for these traacks, for both of them, you are going to want someone who has a huge top speed, with good grip and has excelleent under steer (For alternating between the pipes to get the boost on the first lap in green plant, you have no I dea how much they can help.). For Fire Field, I tend to go with Zoda and for Green plant I tend to use Roger Buster or Beast man.
That's true, but it very possible to beat these tracks with the Wild Goose. Obviously you would have to set it all the way to max speed to get as much you can out of those straightaways. Although, this is irrelevant; I'm sure PinkkittyRose is just using Pico because she likes the character - nothing wrong with that.
But yeah, you're right about using those racers for those tracks. Although I would overall prefer Draq for the emerald cup.

Wild Goose isn't that great. I tried it, and damn it's speed ain't what I expected from an A-B-C machine. I don't see why Pico's so amazing...

Master mode provides no challenge anymore. Only on Diamond Cup is Master mode difficult.
