When Lashley was ECW champ they pushed it as a world title.
And Punk won MITB because he was the most over and marketabe. Not because he was white. Stop judging by color.
MVP is 35 years old, not that over with bad crimminal record. He could make it in the main event but there are smarter choices.
Shelton can't pick up a pen without botching and can't cut a promo. Awful choice.

Shelton is great in ladder matches and great at doing amazing spots.
But he can't cut promos and botches several times almost every match. He'd be an awful face of the company
