  • This video went viral on Austria

  • Wow!!! I don't have much cash, so I will be taking advantage of this!

  • lool is ja cool

  • Thank you MIT!!

  • thanks to MIT...this is a very valuable video.

  • It doesn't seem like a 4 years old video. It's still very useful.

  • useful and informative

  • old but useful.

  • some video are too old

  • The academics who supported this idea were absolutely right. Now students who have a genuine desire to learn but not the materials to do so think of MIT OCW first even before visiting the library. Thank you for inspiring so many around the world to learn more. Even though I did not do nearly well enough to go to MIT for my undergrad study, I still hope to go there for grad school or in some capacity in the future and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

  • thank you MIT

  • bravo to this wonderful university

  • Excellent video. Anyone looking to purchase electronics and/or computers while at the same time supporting a worthy cause? Visit my channel for the link. Thank you.

  • This is beautiful! :} I hope that everyone can benefit from it.

  • Well done MIT. It is inspiring to see this as the world is clearly in need to be educated more effectively and by creating this kind of access you are potentially inspiring millions to want to learn and grow their knowledge and perhaps even formalise it with a qualification. It is sad to see how much anger exists and is visible here on Youtube, but it just highlights how uninformed and uneducated individuals who happen to be angry and spiteful need to be educated better and what you do helps.

  • This opencourseware actually motivates me to want to go to MIT. MIT is my #1 choice right now for a university.

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • @ihatejewscaustheysuc not sure what you are getting at but it sounds like you are really angry about many things. I hope that you can find peace in your mind and heart as hate and prejudice will not get us closer to any kind of civil and moral society that is free and fair. Take care.

  • Internet is creating a new, better, free society..

  • Keep educating us all. Very inspirational and world changing ideas :-)

  • One billion Nobel Prizes for supreme distinction in the field of Awesome to MIT!

  • Who would pay to go to MIT or any school for 30 thousand dollars a year when they can get these classes for free?

  • @gaBehcuoDsuoitneterP Even if you can get the classes for free, you won't have the credit.

  • OCW site helped me receive a high GPA. Thank you MIT.

  • I wish I could find a way to attend MIT. I am grateful to have an opportunity to Individually pursue my education and for MIT to share a peace of the wealth of knowledge they possess with us is truly a kindness.

  • 306 people dislike this? This is such an amazing thing that MIT has done.Giving every person access to the highest form of knowledge at are very fingertips. This is the way knowledge should be,free

  • i love this. Im planning to do all the math classes to get started. Thank You!

  • This is great, I cannot w8 to start with linear algebra...ah this is gonna be so much more fun than watching shows :-) Im gonna start now

  • What a fantastic use of resources! I finished my bachelor's in May and found myself still wanting to know more about the world. When I read in a Popular Science about OCW, my call was answered. Thanks MIT!!I

  • If you think education is expensive, try ignorance........ or Try MIT OpenCourseWare

  • Did you know the gov is working to limit the right you have to take video in public. That you will need written permission of all parties in the video.

What we need to do is write, call, email, show up at any political town hall and ask for laws that allow us to continue to record in public with out permission that includes the cops, mayor, city councilors.

  • @TheShurik65, I also agree, and thank you MIT for allowing us to see how good Professors, and Dr's teach. This makes me want to work that much harder so I can study there!

  • I have to post here.

I go to one of the better Universities in Canada for engineering, and I must say, MIT destroys when it comes to lecturing. I mean all their professors know what they'r doing, explain the material very well and clearly, and actually care about if the student understands it or not.

Just in case anyone actually reads these, thanks a lot for this :)

  • @TheShurik65 I read it, and I agree :)

  • This is the best social service anyone could give... Its like giving feducation for free. For that THANKYOU! :)

  • MIT is helping to eliminate the Republican party.

We will all get better educated while they hide their heads in conservative dogma.

  • 304 harvard students have seen this video !! :)

  • Good.

  • THANK YOU MIT :)!!!!

  • its more than important milestone, for sure :)

  • how to download

  • Why 300 thumbs down ???

  • @jojo808

beacause they are uneducated and going down expoentially

  • @jojo808 those are Harvard students !!

  • @jojo808 those are rich people who are paying thousands for poor standard schools but are not accepted at the MIT or they don't get the same education from there schools! OR it could also be those dumb professors who have always thought it's not good to publicize their lectures! I have one thing to say for such people/professors: You did not get your knowledges from no where but from books written by people who really enjoy what they had done! Those people didn't sell you the books for hundreds!

  • @jojo808 Goodjob America! As soon as you’ll have torn Obama down the world can look forward towards a new decade of neocon imperialism, ecological madness, suppressive worldmarkets and the outbreak of WW3Its so sad for the country that shapedtheworld as we know itI love you nonetheless You lik Britin, with so much power and influence missed the chance in your brief period to make the world safer and beter, son to be under the control of China&India, hope they make a better job,I fear not

  • @jojo808 Stanford guys..

  • MIT do you run the world.

  • MIT Commitee ...you ROCK!!!

  • This genuinely almost brings a tear to my eye. To think that these quality lectures can be used to teach courses in third world countries or indeed in any household worldwide is really pretty amazing.

  • Really awesome program with this. Too bad it isn't more well known.

  • I don't understand why so many people didn't like this video!

  • we love MIT now! before we thought they were martians

  • Ahh! Evolution at work. Magnificent.

  • this open course ware is genious. ^_^

  • So MIT, do you have a solution to stop the oil gusher?

  • @plutoisacomet Yes, but they won't share for free....

  • Thanks a lot for sharing knowledge and lots of inspiration !!!!!!!

  • thank you guys, i'm from Morocco and i watched ur many of ur lectures, it helped a lot, especially in thermodynamics an kinetics

  • Hello, I would never have recieved a 4.0 in electronics without studying my courses before I paid for the classes. The internet makes this easier for allot of people than it was for me because, I started before the internet. In your first year out of high school, I highly suggest taking your major first, on your own time. Never forget to grab your transferable credits at the end of every semester. Teaching staff doesn't owe you an explaination.

  • i just dont get why there are so many people that disliked this video?

  • @dzhonkz same here, must be some retarded idiots lost in this world, poor sod

  • One of the reasons why I like USA.I'm not american

  • how can someone have access to mit?

  • Thank you MIT, but I think few decades later it will funny listening that someone giving its knowledge for absolutely FREE.

  • This helped me so much in calculus! Thank you so much!

  • just doing the right thing is easy

  • why don't all schools do this and just be human about it all

  • I covered this material in an undergraduate degree in astrophysics some 20 years ago. What a wonderfully well-presented series of lectures! Congratulations to both the presenter and MIT for making this a public resource, it's marvelous stuff. Dr Duncan J. Potter, UK.

  • You are fulfilling the dream of me, and many others like me; offering cutting edge technological education to those who cant afford it. There are so many talented, loving, able minds out there that want to help the world, but don't have enough knowledge to do so. You are finally providing education to those people who really need to be educated, because those no-name people are the ones who will one day make this world a much better place.

  • it's not MIT that should intrigue people, it should be the subject matter. i've been watching these videos for a while and conclude they are the same as any other lectures. the real learning happens in your head, doing homework, practicing.

  • i wanna go to mit university when i grow up, its the best!!!

  • I think it is BRIILLIANT!! TRUE SPIRIT OF 'EDUCATION'! and access of education to all!! well done MIT:):):) THREE SMILES ! AND ENDLESS APPRECIATION:)

  • i hope that other univeristy should open its doors for open learning. these unselfish act of mit make this institution more admirable. two thumbs up for mit.

  • Nononono!!! We can't have this! If information and knowledge was FREE how would we control the masses?? What good would a people who could learn to govern THEMSELVES be to the Government??

  • Look up a 93 yr old man named Jacque fresco and see how long he's been saying stuff like this. School is a business.

  • i am a sec. 7 student in hong kong.

i feel that MIT's OCW is very meaningful and helpful for both learning english and science subjects.

it's sadly that at this moment i am first time seeing it.

when i search "PHYSICS" on youtube and finally link to here so as i find a shining secret

  • Seeing these lecturers I feel that I should have studied at MIT. I am greatful to MIT for sharing the knowledge with those who did not have privilege to study at MIT.Thank you MIT...

  • MY DREAM SCHOOL! :D

  • Prof. Walter Lewin's videos were great , really informative memorable and entertaining.

  • I'm part of this since 2009 as a self-learner, is great.

  • Well done, a great contribution to humanity and knowledge.

  • Thanks MIT for the Lectures.. more power..

  • I'm glad universities have started doing this. I wish this would have been around when I was in high school.

  • IT wasn't revolutionary. It was very old. Lieing isn't a very good thing to do as educators. It only proves they have no ethics and can't be trusted to teach anything.

  • Why do they say this is their idea when it's not.

  • Thank You. Not much more to say, Thank You Very Much.

  • Muchas gracias!

  • Upload 5.03 Principles of Inorganic Chemistry I

Sure i could get it done this next semester, but I wish it was there.

  • Im from venezuela, im a feel quate exiting of watching that a camarade of my country is using so greate educational service that is mti opencourse. I guess that as many other people, i thought that mit was a place beyond reach for me, know i realize that is very near for all students like me. My name is andreas diaz, student of aeronautics engineer at the university of army forces in venezuela. Congrratulations again MIT for de open course

  • You know, the more I learn about MIT the happier I get! Their whole attitude towards learning is awe inspiring. I just submitted my app Early Action, so fingers crossed, but even if I end up going to Harvard or Vanderbilt or even Texas A&M I am still going to love having this course material around :) Are there any Course 9 lectures on here? I'm interested in that more than anything else. Oh, goodness...This is fantastic!

  • This is amazing!

  • INDIA's NPTEL channel also serves this purpose

  • @rohitkumarindia Which is awesome too! I'm also subscribed to that channel.

  • MIT , you are the best , saving us from a world of ignorance.

  • The right thing to do the right motto? well I start next year. We Shall see how you do.

  • very interesting

  • can you kindly load some videos of artificial intelligence...

  • Hi, I am researching the value of educational videos on youtube. I would love your input through a very short survey (will take < 2 mins). You can find a link to the survey from my youtube profile. Thanks so much for your help.

  • I have already watched more than 30 classes about calculus, computers, phisys etc. I just love them all! Today, I'm thinking about what course to learn in the college, but I'm totally sure that I'm going to MIT within 5 years. (If they let me too! what I hope so)

  • @Raizdecimal if your 5 years from university and understanding the calculus, you're sure to get in!

  • thanks thank you very much for making this video .. I love mathematics als .. thank Professor Gilbert and thanks to MIT

  • I am one of those cheer leader of MIT open course as pioneer in open courseware as i was one of those taught by MIT top facutly in 1981.Leadership is not about be out in front of others, but to be a visionary and be the first to explore a new territory or model unheard of before and even at the extent of being rediculed since others hardly dreamed of it or did not want to take the risk of being ridiculed.I remember the early days of this innovation since i used to look at MIT website before.

  • I truly appreciate and am thankful to MIT for open course.

In addition to learning from this facility, it has also inspired me to help others !

  • Thanks, nice video!

  • Thanks a lot for all of these free knowledge and teaching you offer, I will donate as soon as possible ... BUT ABOUT THE THEME IT'S SO IMPRACTICAL TO SEE THE COURSE AND IT'S LESSON. SO PLEASE CHANGE IT IF YOU LIKE.

  • I wonder what the molecular biology classes are like at MIT.... I wish I could go to this college.

  • How do i transfer to MIT?

  • I am very impressed MIT.

I have heard much discourse from many intellectuals concerning the good that comes from the free dissemination of knowledge. This service to humanity has been, for me, one of the greatest demonstrations of this value.

    I sincerely thank you.

  • Can someone say "Fucking awesome!?"

  • plz do more of it, your the best!

  • this freedom of access to higher knowledge will allow us to advance exponentially!

  • @EasternMerchant the whole world, actually.

  • I am physically disabled, mentally disabled and financially strained; therefore, I am stuck at a very low-paying job, which will never afford me a higher education, plus I have ruined my credit becuase of my naivity, but I have dreams just like everyone else, the dream of not only helping ourselves, but to help our family, friends, and the universe! Thankyou MIT for not giving up on me by allowing me to still have access to higher eduation and still be able to dream and have hope!

  • @EasternMerchant Agreed (yes i am aware you wrote this comment 10 months ago but i know where are coming from)

  • Thanks MIT for the free knowledge

  • This is one of the best things about YouTube. Thanks MIT for offering this service!

  • MIT - Josephine - Philadelphia Experiment.

  • Very cool, MIT - kudos to you for your effort in providing education for educations' sake!

  • This is a great idea! Wow glad I found this just for my joy of learning something new...

  • MIT should be recognized as the greatest College in the country for doing this. Colleges should ONLY be measured on their ability to educate the population, not how much money they bring in or how well their alumni do in their careers (after all, knowledge alone does not equal monetary success). MIT has created the largest legit educational offerings to the largest amount of people. We need educated people, not successful people.

  • Behold the beginning of the end of college as we know it. I have learned more from the opencourseware than I did from actually going to college. It sickens me to see how political structures and money influence the ability to become educated. Today's world is not to learn or to become educated, but rather to EARN an education by passing standardized testing and paying high prices.Thank you MIT for being the first to break the barrier.

After all, college is nothing but a summer camp for adults.

  • fascinating

  • weeeeeeeeeeee free knowledge!!!!

  • MIT is great!

  • Thank you, MIT!

  • MIT, you did it! The value of what you have done can not be measured. Thank you for bettering man-kind.

  • Sorry! I mean differential equations! :P

  • I would like to suggest to upload a curse of differential calculus. Congratulations for such a great project like this!

  • this is an awesome idea. many thanks from georgia tech!

  • Sensationelle Idee !

    Freue mich auf die Umsetzung

  • It is said that the descendant of an ancient South Korean is an origin of the world.

I expect that the companion in the world proves the history of South Korea.

  • This has helped me become a better engineer and I'm thankful for all that MIT has given me for free. Thanks from UCM.

  • I won't pretend to be oblivious to the fact that this initiative is not entirely altruistic. I don't care.

Realistically, I'll never get to MIT. (Too old, family to look after, businesses to run, etc.) But my personal situation has not quenched my thirst for knowledge and understanding. The fact that I have access to some of the best lecturers in the world across a broad range of subjects, for free, in my own time, from thousands of miles away is too cool for school.

    Thank you.

  • ...so the whole purpose of going to college is to get credits and degree?

  • Yes! there is no real title or certificate in simply understanding how everything works.

College is so you can get a job.

  • why would anyone want to go to MIT then?

  • To graduate and learn obviously.

  • I am very thankful to MIT for having this, and all the other colleges for starting to post classes too. I really like this idea, but I want to say one thing:

Contrary to what they say on their site, OCW is not complete.

In many courses, there are either no homework assignments, no quizzes, no lecture notes, no reading materials, no videos, etc...

Some courses have all of these, but many courses are still incomplete. In addition, many courses are out-dated. Other courses can't even be found.

  • College is so you can learn about a subject, not so you can get a job. College cost money. Higher education is conducive to getting a job that pays more but lets be honest here when it comes to getting payed, one must get hired first. How many highly educated individuals are not working in their preferred fields? Much more than you think. I thank MIT for this because currently, while I get the funds to go to college, I can still get an education for once I get there, it should be easier to pass.

  • I've never seen any large organization do something so generous.

  • THIS IS A GREAT IDEA

  • thank you, this is what the internet should be for, tommorows world should be based on free education. MIT are leading by example.

  • ...setting a great example indeed!! Cheers to the folks who share their knowledge!

  • Thank you so greatly for providing this online!!! This is truly amazing!!!! Information should be free for anyone who willing to learn!!!! I know that some people disagree with that, but it is the most moral and ethical thing that can be done for society and the world.

  • ahhh it is free, its called the internet, you think everything mit, harvard and anyone else teaches you cant google and learn for free....last time i checked 1+1 equaling 2 is the same weather i learn it at harvard, mit, from a drunk hobo or in a dream so as to the point of ever payin that much to go to some 'elite' school i will never get

  • M i t is a great school but you cant learn quantum physics from a hobo, but i understand what you mean, Schools are so you can get a job but theres no real certificate or title in simply wanting to understand the world, you can be smarter than an M i t student but it wont get you a job.

  • OCW is free, and that is the point.

The main difference between going to a college and Google is the quality of the material. In addition, OCW makes it easy to find the information that you want, while if you use Google, you have to look through all of the links, some which may not be what you wabted.

  • (O_O) 'wabted' BWAH HA HA HA HA HAAAAA

    sorry.

    but whats ocw

  • can we get a degree from MIT in that way?

  • thanks very much for this service, it really helps people like me. I dreamed to study at MIT but I was restricted by financially & immigration rules to that dream, but technological advancements and efforts of good hearts made that dream true.

  • Thank you MIT. I'm going to learn as much as I can!
