even this would depend to some degree on the climate in which you find yourself. some would argue that in a hot climate a few candybars would be a bad idea, but honestly - after a couple days stuck somewhere with nothing but meat, crackers and fritos... a little chocolate, even if licked from inside the wrapper, might really hit the spot.
Generally speaking, you're not going to want to store meats in the heat of a car. You're better off using unsalted or lightly salted peanuts, crackers, and/or trailmix. If it's just survival food, then you don't need 2,000 calories. In fact, if you can simply get something between 500 and 1,000, you'll generally be just fine. Food that undergoes extreme temperature variations in a car would need to be cycled out and replaced every 6 months to 1 year at the very most.
People, Eat an MRE and tell me it doesn't mess with your body. They are good if nothing else is around but can be a bit of a shock to the digestive system if youre not used to them. Stick to typical foods, unless you eat McFood, then change your life and eat real!
The problem with keeping that type of food in the trunk will be heat. I would not store ham and tuna in my trunk even during an 80 degree day. You will be better off keeping it handy in your house. You should also consider dehydrated fruits that will be longer lasting and provide you some essential vitamins. I would also throw in a small water purifier and a couple bottles for water. Remember that store bought water bottles release BPA in hot weather so do not use plastic bottles with 1 rating.
you could probably keep a sleeve of saltine crackers and some mayonaise packets from a deli or fast food place to put in the tuna and have tuna and crackers as a meal
Don't forget a good climbing rope or ladder so you can climb out of Highway blockades. The walls build around highways are no to contain sound. They are to contain you. 1 Police car at each exit ramp traps everyone. See the mass evacuation of Galveston Texas when the hurricane was coming. 12 hours stuck in you car on the highway by the police.

Go to HD and pick up a bucket boss for that bucket. That will make it more useful allowing it to have pockets to store other items.

Very good video. It's nice to see a survival video by someone knowledgeable.
I have seen some that give questionable and dangerous advice.

i think in emergencies extra calories are good so we can stay energized ...or people who are a little larger and need more for energy

The tuna and spam are always a must and with a little portable bag of rice is a good meal for three days alone.

A log of some kind of smoked sausage would go good with crakers and last several days alone.

Not sure, but isn't the Tuna just as bad as the MRE's as far as varying temperature of a vehicle. How about freeze dried, like Mountain House.
