Nice quick video. . . wish you had done a full review as your answers to comments are very helpful. Funny, I've visited The Netherlands twice, and don't remember seeing any Insights. The reviews I've read of owners are very, very high. . . even by Honda standards. Do you regret selling it?
Yes i do regret selling it... Its was a great car. There were only 3 Insights in the Netherlands. Its was only sold in England, Germany and Switzerland. Pretty unique to drive one in Holland ;-) Attention all over the place. I 've also been in a carmagazine showing my Insight. Well, all good things come to an end. Its in good hands now.
Well, it handles perfectly. Comfortable suspension, idle weight distribution, pretty fast and quiet. Drives just like a normal car but with great fuelconsumption. I can highly recommend the car. Drove it for two great years but wanted something else. So bought me a 2005 Civic Si 3-door
not to make you have regrets, or anything, but I saw an Insight somewhere online that had the engine that your Si has swapped in, and it only lost about 5mpg. Of course, that's not necessarily the most cost-effective way to get the best of both worlds, but it kinda makes you think...
I thinking of getting this car, currently have an old si del sol. Do you think this car could maintain 70mph going up a 10%-15% grade for a few miles?
Dont know, never tried it that way, but the engine is pretty powerfull (ofcourse with full batteries). You should buy one, its very reliable and fun to drive. Good luck
@mrjeroen21 dude, i just got one. you were right. it's powerful and fun to drive. i got one in dark blue with a CVT, year 2002. it makes it up the hill better than a del Sol.
Ha ha!! I never tested it myself, did you?. But i heard the magazine Car and Driver tested the Insight once and did a 10,5. However i think its more like 12 sec.. With full batteries ofcourse..
My neighbor has an Insight too. I really like it (almost more than my Prius...), but the only problem I have with it are its teeny-tiny wheels. They can only use it for half of the year because the snow gets so deep. I don't think it's economical to have a car you can only use for half of the year. As soon as it's spring again I see them all over the place. Sort of like people opening their pools.
I am thinking about buying a Honda Insight. How is it different to a Toyota Prius. I noticed when you first start the Honda the petrol motor starts. When you first drive off is the Honda suppose to run on electricity during take off. Or is this a Toyota Prius thing
When you first start a toyota prius, the petrol engine starts too, however, a honda insight is a power-assist hybrid meaning it cannot run solely on electricity and the prius can. Unfortuneately, the insight is no longer in production, but the slightly larger civic hybrid is also available. I personally own a prius and know someone with both an insight and civic hybrid. They're all very nice cars.
Honda's Hybrids always have the engine on, The electric motor provides torque for acceleration. This set up allows Honda to put slightly smaller engines in their hybrids and get better highway mileage.
Go Honda!
Hows the room in this car? Would it fit a 6"2 person nicely?

@MegaDeathwarrant
Your length should not be a problem. The only thing is that the car is very low, so tall people have to roll out of the car :-)

There's a sort of "whine" sound from your engine. My Insight doesn't sound like this, does it sill make that sound?
smbstressfest 4 years ago
At that time the engine was cold so it sounds like an airplane ;-)
However, the soundquality of the camera isnt so well either. I have the car obout 3 months now and i enjoy driving it every day. How about you?

how is the acceleration of this car?
shawtiee1085 3 years ago
its not that bad, my dads has no problem pulling out onto roads or into traffic, the electric motors help in the low-end

its a 2000 model with all the new updates from the latest 2006. It is no longer in production. But there is a new one to come.

Tekkin58 4 years ago
about 68mpg, depending to your driving style ofcouse.. It can be allot higher. Some Insight drivers have proven this.
mrjeroen21 4 years ago
what kind of fuel milage do you get with that thing.
