When you start to become successful, you have to ham it up a little bit, in order to further demonstrate, and otherwise "convince" record execs, and broader audiences, beyond any conceiveable doubt, of your musical "ability." Sucks. But, that's the way it is. This was before the internet, and certainly before heavier, obscure metal became commonplace in the commercial world.
