  • Korennnnnnnnnnn, Love U!!!

  • i found glycerin at walmart for $3! :)

  • love your tutorials, making this now to fix a cream liner,, gonna use rose water, thinking it will be like the mac fix with rose

    ;)

  • I just tried this today, not sure where I went wrong but the first time it was too diluted so acted like water. the second time too concentrated that it burned my eyes D=

  • Walmart sells Glycerin in the pharmacy section.

  • I tried this to make a mac fix plus product. instead of just purified water, i used an organic product called witch hazel beauty tonic which had purified water, witch hazel, tea tree and vitamin c. It really made my mineral foundation last much longer! thanks so much for the idea!

  • Love your videos!!! Just another suggestion for you. Could you please make a play list of DIY home made mixing medium , home made brush cleanser etc. it would make it so easy to find. I lost the paper I wrote the mixing amounts for mixing medium and brush cleanser :-)

  • Hey just an idea from a girl working in a laboratory...you can actually make a large quantity in a glass bottle with the cap half-screwed on top of it and sterilize it by boiling it in a pressure cooker for 20 min (start counting time after steam starts coming out). in biology we use glycerine dissolved in water to keep frozen cells and sterilize it the way I described, so no additives will have to be used, just an idea :)

  • found it. vitamin shoppe. and amazon <3

  • I found glycerin at Rite Aid in the FIRST AID aisle. Also at wal mart in the FIRST AID aisle.

  • i did this, super easy....I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL !!! AHH

  • Would a mixing medium help my brow powder stay on longer ? I currently use wax and then brow powder on top.

  • If you want to preserve it and keep it longer as well as make it smell refreshing you can add Grapefruit extract available at most healthfood stores. This is what is used to preserve natural beuty products it also works as a mild stabelizer. I would use 7-10 drops for every 2 oz of product . Its very cheap as well and can be used to make everything smell good from your beuty products to homeade air and linen freshener.

  • @bonzaibb12 Citrus extracts in cosmetics and skin care depletes collagen. DO NOT use it, no matter how good it smells.

    Fragrence is not skincare.

  • @aussiedonna50 I was not aware of that however I was recommending it as a preservative. Most natural and Organic cosmetic products use Grapefruit extract. Since you do not agree this is suitable what do you recommend as a safe preservative and stabilizer.

  • don't pharmacies sell glycerin? (in Germany they all do, and some people like to use glycerin to care for their car door seals, or put it in the water of their Christmas trees to keep them fresh longer...)

  • VERY HELPFUL!! AND A MONEY SAVER!!!! WHAT PRESERVATIVES ARE USED IN MIXING MEDIUMS TO MAKE THEM LAST EVEN LONGER????

  • Can you use this mixing medium to press mineral eyeshadows or will the shadow go bad after a couple of weeks?

  • OMG...I LOVE WATCHING YOU!!!!

  • I found the Glycerin at walmart but i was reading the back label and it says not to use around eye area x.x and that this is mainly used for dry and chapped areas etc...

  • can i use any liquid glycerin?or is there a certain kind of glycerin?

  • In what section of the store might you find this? Thanks!

  • @cookiecravingperson In stores like Walmart, ShopKo and in grocery stores it would be in the pharmacy area near the laxatives. Look for either a small clear bottle (like Koren's) or a small brown bottle. In craft stores (Michael's or Hobby Lobby) check the baking area since Wilson (baking supply company) sells it as well for icing. Yes, it's weird but true.

  • Vegetable glycerin can I use this?

  • Could I use like the Elf Makeup Mist & Set as a mixing medium?? I spray it into the lid of my mineral shadows and use it as a liquid eyeliner, but could I use it to press mineral shadows and revive my gel liner?

  • I've used a bit of lotion before and it worked fine... is that bad or something...? :c

  • can u use this to press your mineral shadows?

  • thank u!

  • Thank u!

  • If you're too lazy to make your own toner (as I am) use an alcohol-free toner. It has water, glycerin and then a smattering of other ingredients that generally don't irritate.

  • thank you Koren!

  • mixing medium is the same as fix plus by mac?

  • You just made my day! since we cant buy M.A.C. Pro. products here in Denmark, so thank you, i have a photoshoot on saturday, so its blend, blend and try out how i can make it run :oP

  • also you can find gycerin in craft stores. i know this cuz i used to use it to make personal care products. ie : lip glosses, soaps, and edible umm naughty stuff :X. even hair supply stores cuz it can be used to add to hair to keep your curls wt looking.

  • is it ok to use this mixing medium for glitter pigment?

  • hey mr enkore :). i purchased my glycerine @ cvs and the ingredient just say vegetable glycerin. will that work? it's smaller and cheaper. it's hard 2 find the one that ur having on ur vid. :(

  • @xjanrehsmeyx have u try ur vegetable glycerin yet? i cant find that glycerin he have in this video too. i went to target and walgreen but they didnt have it bc i live in Alaska so i think we dont have rite aid over here. again have u try ur? is it work? if so please let me know so i can buy or order 1 for me. Thanks!

  • @eg9vtec @eg9vtec yes i have tried my vegetable glycerin and it does work! and a few days ago i went to riteaide and found the ONE bottle of glycerin that he's using in this vid, but i haven't tried mixing that yet because i wanted to finish my vegetable glycerin. so eg9 i hope this helps so u won't stress on tryin to find the 1 he's usin'. :)

FYI: the vegetable glycerin will also works if u wunna revive your gel liners and yes enkore has a vid on dat 2. :) .. he's da BOMB! luv him!

  • @xjanrehsmeyx In what aile would you have to look at Rite aid for Glycerin? please help

  • @reedleycali1 it's at the first aid aisle w/da bandages and stuff. gud luck tho cuz i only found ONE bottle of it. like koren said, it's hard to find. i guess wen u do find it buy a couple if u use it alot, if not jus keep an eye out for it wen ur half way gone n get ready to go on a mission and find em' again. :D .. gud luck.

  • @reedleycali1 u can always find gycerin in drug stores..the brand is usual 'Swan' brand in the brown bottle

  • ty again!

  • omg thtzz awsome

  • For those looking for stores that sell Glycerin.

CVS sells a liquid glycerin for $4.99

RiteAid (as Koren mentioned) sells it.

    Walgreens sells one for $5.99

You might also be able to find it at Target, ShopKo and Walmart in the pharmacy area OR they maybe able to special order it for you.

    Other brands include:

    Africare 100% Glycerin Oil

    Gabels

    Ben Nye

You might also be able to find it in a health food store or higher end grocery store that specializes in organic products. Good luck!

  • @zadidoll

Thank u 4 the info. i will try to hit 1 of those stores 2mrw! :D

  • @zadidoll Craft stores such as Michael's and Hobby Lobby sells glycerin too for soap makers in liquid form as well as brick form too. :-D

  • This was really difficult to find. I checked Walgreens and Target, Meijer, and Rite Aid, and finally found it at Walmart for 2.89

  • @temachtianibeti You're right about it being difficult to find. My local Walgreens and RiteAid do not sell it in the store, they sell it online. I found mine at Albertsons and later at ShopKo (for 69 cents since it was on clearance). The product is in small brown bottles and not the tall clear one that Koren showed in his video. For those still looking for it you can also find it in craft stores like Michaels where they sell Wilson baking products since it's used in icing (weird but true).

  • @zadidoll I get a super high quality one from an herbal shop calle Mountain Rose herbs they have many uniques natural Organic oils and beuty products.

  • @ewazxc1 FUCK YOU. (;

& koren, your eye's are really pretty.

  • What is the intro music called? I remember this music and absolutely love it!

  • Thank you for sharing, I was just looking for a mixing medium now I can try this process.

  • Thank you for sharing, I was just looking for a mixing medium now I can try this process.

  • sorry but what is the diferrence of a mix medium and a primer??

  • Hi Koren Iwent back as far as I could but could find the answer to, can I use a mixing medium as a pressing medium to avoid alcohol?

  • Glycerin is exactly why homemade natural soaps are sooooo much better for you, the natural glycerine is left in the soap, not removed like it is from EVERY commercial soap product out their today. Not to mention most soap makers use lots of other skin loving ingredients like shea and cocoa butters, plus much more.

  • thxs! very useful!!!!

  • can you use this mixing medium for mineral pressing and matte pigments?

  • can you use this home made mixing medium to press loose pigments?

  • i found glycerine for about $3.50 at super wal-mart near the pharmacy section

  • Glycerin can be found at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and cake stores. Not sure if its 99.5% tho

  • I found glycerin at my local bakery supply store :D

  • awesome..

  • Thanks again! Love ur videos!

  • ur new haircut is realy good!!!!!!!!

  • ZOMG, Bruce Lee! Lol! oxox Love ya Koren!

  • i love your bangs like that.

  • omg, love the hair! you should keep this style forever! i love it!

  • Hello,Thanks for this useful tip.

  • can you just use regular tap water for this?

  • @nicebluechica i would at least boil the tap water for 5 minutes minimum to kill off all the germs. tap water is basicallys ok for all different kinds of use, but you will keep the selfmade mixing medium (as he said) for up to 4 weeks and this would give the germs enough time to grow. this would be bad, especially when you use it for your eyes. purified water is cleared of germs already, so you don't have to boil it anymore. :)

  • i used suppositories....... bad?

  • u can get glycerin cheaper at walmart

  • CVS has glycerine

  • I love watching your videos for the tips and great information but I also love watching your gorgeous expressive face :) Donna xoxo

  • could u plzz tell me wats the shelf of this home made mixing medium?????

  • Glycerin is also used in cooking and can be found in the baking section of supermarkets. (In the UK, anyway)

  • great info - ty :)

  • Glycerin is used well for eyeshadow EXCEPT loose glitter pigments or nonglitter pigments! LADIES!! Try EYEDROPS for glitter pigments! WORK BEST!! EYEDROPS can work for any pigments or eyeshadows!

  • is glycerin a medicine? or is it another thingg?

  • @beautybyHEART glycerin is a humectant and an external emollient. Basically it traps water. It's not necessarily considered medicine, it can be used for irritated bowls and constipation (as a suppository) but it's not something you need a prescription for.

  • Korrine; can this be used as a mixing medium for making pressed pigments and eyeshadows?

  • Thanks so much it hope me a lot .

  • Koren, you look cute with your hair like that. You shouldn't hide it by wearing a hat or bandanna.

  • You are absolutely gifted! Thank you for sharing :) God bless your endeavors.

  • Hey everyone who's looking for glycerine in the UK I got a 200ml bottle in Boots for 1.39 :)

  • they also have it at WALMART!! for around 3 or so bucks!

  • can u use any kind of water from a bottle?

  • Fantastic! Thanks Koren!!! :D

  • i wonder...can you use vegetable glycerin ? im gonna try it soon. i have lots i use in my hair.

  • could i use this for pressing my mineral foundation?

  • @thistar92 Yep, it works for pressing mineral foundation too. :-)

  • Thanks so much!

  • i like ur hair like this <3

  • This is such a great idea! Now II need some glycerin!

  • Michaels arts and crafts sells glycerin in their Wilton (cake decorating) section. I dont remember what we sell it for or how big the bottle is, but its there lol

  • OMG

  • I found Glycerin in CVS in beauty section for $ 4.99

  • That is so smart!

  • you are truely amazing..umust be really proud f urself that you are helping so many people with the knowledge you have.. good that we have youtube and we can reach u ..

  • Thanks yous!!!!! :D

  • Thanks for this great tip, will have to give it a try :)

Btw, i love what you've done with ur hair

  • is this like Fix+?

  • yeah this a homemade version though but it does the same kind if thing. Not exactly the same but it gets the job done for me.

  • I have oily skin, including my eyelids, and the formula given didn't work for me. The product just slid around and smeared.

I altered the formula for 4 tsp water, 1 tsp glycerin, and 1/2 tsp alchohol. This works quite well for me. Although you do have to be careful not to accidently touch your eye or waterline, as the achohol will sting!

  • Try using witch hazel instead of alcohol. Safer for the face and a natural astringent. :)

  • ur so sweet how u answer everybody questions u dont make people feel dum for asking u commend scene questions

  • COOL!!! THANK U =) VERY NICE!

  • Its crazy that some people pay $30 for mixing medium when you can make your own for pennies! Love this tip!

  • isnt it gonna be hard to wash the brush later on? like the hairs are gonna be sticky.. no?

  • OMG, this is the first time I have ever seen Koren's hair! I love it!

  • whats the difference using water, and mixing medium?

  • Mixing Medium (like glycerin based) locks out moisture and seals makeup so it wont run or anything. Almost like powdering face paint to seal it but with pigments.

  • i've used honey as a sub for glycerin..its also a humectant. and b4 you ask..no honey water is not sticky..well it can be if you use too much honey. thats what i use when i cant find glycerin.

  • hello again. great video. is there anything else we can do with this medium?

  • wow, what a great tip, thanks. is it waterproof now, the eyeliner?

  • ....6 minutes on a youtube video, forever in a landfill..

    lmao jk

  • CVS/Longs had glycerin in liquid form...it was $4.99

  • Hey enkore, Thanks for all your great videos. I had a concern actually. I went and bought the glycerin from rite aid like you had reccomended. The exact same one. However, when I read the back label, it clearly says, ...."avoid contact with eyes...". That cant possibly be a good thing --whether or not diluted. I'm concerned some people might have reactions or even worse.

    Please look into it.

    Thanks so much.

  • It's a common safety precaution. It's not something you'd want to use like eyedrops, but it's gentle. It's used as a main ingredient in baby shampoos, btw. You can even eat most kinds! Glycerine is also commonly used as a sweetener and in store-bought icings. It IS generally safe for consumption but will burn when it gets in your eyes undiluted.

  • So supposed to be a reply to DAconqu3r3r... stupid computer!

  • What about isoprop alcohol to make it last longer? Ever tried it?

  • is this like a fix + ??

  • yes exactly if you use cucumber water.

  • ok why are you so cool? rofl

btw love your hair in this vid

  • The formula is great!!! thanks Koren,I've used this with some loose pigments and used it as a liquid liner.Absolutely fabulous

  • Ciao, is homemade mixing medium able to seal also Mac Glitter in skin? Thank you.

  • i don't think so, you'll need primer for that, i recommend urban decay's primer potion. :)

  • Really? I've got the Urban Decay Primer Potion... but are you sure it could seal glitter into skin? It's not like a glou, in my opinion...

  • yeah i tried it once, and it worked for me, but if it doesn't really work for you, you can use 'spirit gum', which is an adhesive that you can use to stick the glitter on your face.

i don't think it's available in a store, but you'll probably find on ebay.

    hope this helped. :)

  • Oh, I've never heard of "Spirit Gum": I'll try to find it. Thank you ;-)

  • creppy watch 'nappers from us

  • Brazilians use hairspray on their legs to make them shiny and firm during carnival so I've decided to try it as a finish spray on my face after aplying make up. It worked amazinly well. I used pantene classic touchable hairspray. Warning: Close your eyes very well and don't apply it too close to your face. Spray it as you spray on your hair.

  • can we use this homemade mixing medium to press mineral eyeshadows?? please help....

  • good question. Why dont you try searching it?

  • Aw, I can't make (or use) MM because I'm allergic to glycerin. :( :( :( Does MAC's face and body MM have glycerin in it?

  • im not very sure but i think he might be busy teaching people how to do make-up and making videos. I'll research it for you though and when i get you an answer ill tell you right away ^^

  • Since the finished product is liquid, and you have your wet brush- would it make pressed eyeshadows crusty?

  • i dont want to be a hater or anything....but thing thing he does with his eyes is really creeeeepy :/

  • i know its scary
