  • okay, anyone that can answer this fr us please do..We have 4 total ducks( 1 male rouen, 1 female rouen 1 male cayuga and 1 female cayuga) one of the females lays one egg a day, larger than reg egg and white in color..question is this. heard that if a female lays a black egg it is fertilized? true? Of course I think i heard that about cayugas...any info?

  • Ahh I stumble back to this video... Lucky recently disappeared... A kid came by and asked if we had a dog because there was a duck on our porch. The pond was frozen, so he came home. My mom told him yeah, it's ours. Lucky went missing that night. I had soo much history with him, I can't believe he's gone. I think that kid took him =[

  • Wow I got my "Rouen drake" I named lucky(almost died from raccoon-so he's lucky!) from a horrible place! Very muddy-no clean water, never handled. The lady was disabled- and the breeding most likely got outta hand. But anyway, his chest is like spotted, not dark like theirs. Kinda like a cheetah xD but it's a boy for sure!

  • ok ude im useing my bro's acc i have 2 mallard's 1 has a yellowish bek other back with a pale tip and do they keep their green head etc and brown feather's for the girls all their life or they change with season as normal mallard's?

  • the one labeled april 30 is the one of the baby ducks...:-)

  • that video response is our chickens..sorry;-(

  • so these are all rouen, correct? And the males have the green around the neck and are prettier, right? or is it reversed? Wehave two rouen left...bought 1 peking, 4 rouen and 5 of some other type that havent figured out yet..lol...Lost 3 of the original ten..But doing all we can to keep em alive...So wonderful birds they all are:-)

  • Rouen ducks are basicly just fat mallards that can't fly. The breed was developed to replace the common boring peking duck, and add a mallard type duck to ponds and lakes making them look more natural. Since they can't fly they are idea for keeping year round. The mallard type breeds were crossed with the peking then back crossed to mallards to get rid of any white, and make them too heavy for flight. However, some rare birds will fly but not far, and have some white on them.

  • I have 2 rouen ducks and 5 mallard ducks, BUT my rouen ducks can fly! I thought they could not fly? They cannot fly as long distance as the mallard ducks, but they still can get FAR off the ground and fly a good amount. IS this normal? I'm happy they can fly, but I just want to know if it's normal.

  • @ciciironwill27 Yes its normal...If you dont want them to fly away just trim the feather at the end of one wing about a inch and a half...... He will get us to it very fast and it dosent hurt the duck at all ...

  • @86mustang07 Thanks, but ima let them keep flying, idc that they can fly i was just wondering LOL. thanks again. and sadly only 4 made it to adulthood. now i have 2 rouens and 2 mallards. I died b/c of sickness. one flew away and has not come back (gone for 2 months so it might be alive, but idk) and the other 1 was hit by a car. i went from 7 to 4, maybe 5, i think those are some good odds, i've heard of stories where non make it to adultshood. so im happy with the 4 i have. i love em. :)

  • what are they lookin at? lol!
