@Crezelda This cat is also 17 years old. I also wouldn't allow any other rat to do this... in fact, Chu the rat had jumped her enclosure for the hundredth time. I've since fixed the problem and moved the rats to a room where I can now close the door. I'm a very strong believer that you don't mix species ever.
@Epicz300 No not wild rats! I rescue from shelters, classifieds and other organizations. But never from pet stores either. They are an evil establishments making money off the suffering of animals.

@Iloverats73m On average, rats live to 2 years but if you are really careful in their care with the right food and habitat and you are lucky enough to find a rat with good genetics, then they can reach 3 years and a little more. Mine live around 30 months but I've had a few live between 39 to 45 months.
@jorats I didnt have a big play area for my rats, which i think is amazing btw. But they did have a really big house 3 floors, and lots of toys for rats and such, there was 4 of them. My bedroom was kind of their play area lol. My rats are gone now though, had a great time having them. First lived to 2 yrs. Second 2 1/2 yrs. 3rd about 2 and 3/4 yrs, and my 4th who also had kids, lived to 3 1/2 yrs. Continue making vids there really engjoyable to watch, good work :)
@Iloverats73m I've found that female rats live a little longer than males tho. Getting them fixed at about 6 months helps 2 prevent any breast tumors to develop.

Then telling me I should read something about rats before buying some... and then proceeding to tell me they've had rats for 6 years and are a vet. Failing to notice that I have plenty of informational videos about rats and have had them for 8 years. I just really despise ignorance.
@jorats Plus, cats arent always mean to rats, I have 3 cats that get along just well with my rats and theyre not even old or something, they're just used to my rats running around, they dont prey on them... People are so ignorant. Cat and rats are easy to get along.
@N3zum1H1m3 That's true, it all depends on the animal's personality. I've seen some really cute videos of rats and cats loving each other. It's the same thing with dogs. Some get alone well while other dogs would love nothing more than to eat the rats. As a good rule though, always be careful though when mixing species. :)
@N3zum1H1m3 I totally agree! I always watch my cats when the rats are out, but I never had any problems with them being together! When one of my cats was a baby, he'd try to play with the rats a little too rough, but he learned very quickly not to and now the rats can climb on him and he doesn't even mind :)

I remember this lady was trying to give some kittens away and I was going to take one, until she found out I had a pit bull. While I admire her concern for the kittens and not giving them to anyone she thought "unfit," she was ignorant. I later got a kitten from someone else, and he and the dog are best friends. She even became his surrogate mom, and nursed him...for two years! lol

@MissyouBradders Even cats and dogs can get along, just because our media portrays cats mice dogs and rats as enemies doesn't mean you should assume everything on TV is true, I mean look at how our media portrays rats themselves, the media treats them as these diseased filthy vile creatures who are always portrayed as villains in nearly all the media there is, when Jorats video proves that that couldn't be further from the truth since pet rats cute smart social and clean, I know not all *2bcont.
