In any conversation the second someone has to make a threat of any kind that means that you have made them think about what the truth is and they are in the wrong and hate it. The funny thing is that the hell as you think of it now (brimstone, seven layers, and punishment for eternity) was adopted by the Catholic church by a guy named Dante, you might have heard of him but I don't know, you seem kind of ignorant when it comes to religious matters.

I've dealt with those kind of "argument failed... resort to threats and raised fists" people a lot in the past few years, in public venues like campus and bars (religion is a bad bar topic unless you like violence...) but I am a large bear-like humanoid so they kind of think twice before hitting me. WIthout argueing with anyone, I would just like to point something out. The Apostels and Early Church never taught Hell was a place of fire and brimestone. That is what we think of hell today, but that was never taught untill the dark ages. So, when someone says "You will burn in Hell", you can take comfort in the fact that they probably don't know Christianity very well. However, as to your point, if you don't believe in Hell, then the threat of it won't affect you.

Hi, about your question as to how fundys would feel. If I had to guess, and I do, I'd say it might be like telling a criminal who thinks they are above the law that it's only a matter of time till they are cought and go to prison. People of weaker faith probably would get discuraged though. Also some people might just not belive it.

Everybody goes to "hell", from the Greek word "Hades", which simply means "the grave". People who don't study (like yourself) are left getting their impressions by those who are under the influence of the master deceiver. Hell, and the Lake of Fire, are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ENTIRELY. The servant who does NOT blow a trumpet of warning, will have blood on their hands, for NOT letting the world know that their house is on fire (so to speak). The reason for this, is that you will be without excuse. Your refusal to heed the warning will stand as a witness against you, in the day of judgment. In any conversation the second someone has to make a threat of any kind that means that you have made them think about what the truth is and they are in the wrong and hate it. The difference with Christians is that they will make the threat of hell and then go on knowingly believing in an obvious lie. Love your vids keep it up.

Its quite clear that this scenario is a person on a small hill looking at the horizon, to see people as small as grashoppers you cannot go to far up or away, the horizon seem like a circle, and the heaven is like a curtain.

@filoIII Actually, Hell itself was only merely mentioned in the Bible. It was never described as anything more than a place that sinners went to and that there was fire there. The funny thing is that the hell as you think of it now (brimstone, seven layers, and punishment for eternity) was adopted by the Catholic church by a guy named Dante, you might have heard of him but I don't know, you seem kind of ignorant when it comes to religious matters.

I've dealt with those kind of "argument failed... resort to threats and raised fists" people a lot in the past few years, in public venues like campus and bars (religion is a bad bar topic unless you like violence...) but I am a large bear-like humanoid so they kind of think twice before hitting me. So I get a bit of leeway there.
I think they walk away a bit more hurt when they realize I beat their ass with truth and argument, not large fists.

WIthout argueing with anyone, I would just like to point something out. The Apostels and Early Church never taught Hell was a place of fire and brimestone. That is what we think of hell today, but that was never taught untill the dark ages. So, when someone says "You will burn in Hell", you can take comfort in the fact that they probably don't know Christianity very well. However, as to your point, if you don't believe in Hell, then the threat of it won't affect you.

If I am wrong about the non-existence of Hell, demonstrate to me why I'm wrong with corroborating evidence and I will reverse my atheism. Faith is necessary to you precisely because there is no evidence for the Christian hypothesis, hence you operate outside the bounds of reason, hence you cannot say "Hell exists" and expect not to be scorned. A 3 year old could grasp that.

Let me tell you something... Everyone on this planet has certain insecurities, We would be machines if we didn't had them. So please understand the basic concept of insecurity before saying something stupid like that. Looking to fight? What !? I just presented to you some of your thinking flaws. When I was talking about everyone's insecurity, I meant the human capacity to respond to claims bassed on other's beliefs. Everybody goes to "hell", from the Greek word "Hades", which simply means "the grave". People who don't study (like yourself) are left getting their impressions by those who are under the influence of the master deceiver. Hell, and the Lake of Fire, are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ENTIRELY. And the Lake of Fire only burns until the wicked are CONSUMED. What you need, is to stop being so SMUG, and start doing some honest HOMEWORK. That way you can judge God's word by HIS word, and not man's distortions.

I came to your opinion after reading ch. 38 of Hobbes's Leviathan and actually I have no idea what the CofE generally thinks about this, presumably a bit of everything. By the way, "eternal hellfire" is a Catholic teaching, adopted by many "Protestants", who are equally erroneous regarding "hell". The bible teaches that the wages of sin is DEATH, not eternal life in hell. The wicked will be destroyed, not kept alive in agony. That is a lie from Satan himself, in an effort to get people (like yourself) to hate God, His word, and his people. Hell is an Old English word for "the grave". The Lake of Fire is where the wicked will be cast, and destroyed. Not "hell".

Actually, it's not a "last line of defense". It's a requirement by the word of God. The servant who does NOT blow a trumpet of warning, will have blood on their hands, for NOT letting the world know that their house is on fire (so to speak). The reason for this, is that you will be without excuse. Your refusal to heed the warning will stand as a witness against you, in the day of judgment. It is the right thing to do, to warn someone of impending danger. You attack and hate the messenger.

Come on, you know the answer to this question. Hell has NEVER been any kind of deterrent for adults, it only works on kids and mentally inadaquate people. VIOLENCE keeps religion in control, biblical threats haven't worked for centuries.

Isn't it a crime to condone torture? If you knew that someone was being tortured or that someone was planning to torture someone then aren't you obligated to tell the police? I think it should be a serious crime to condone it.
This will give the religious people their well-deserved head ache to either go to jail or report to the police that an infinitely sadistic invisible man is planning to torture billions of people for an eternity.
This matter should be settled in court.

When they say you are going to hell then they are little pathetic children and somewhere deep inside they should know full well that their religion is bullshit. If it were true that they in fact really actually were convinced of hell then the only possible course of action for them would be to try to save everyone from it because one single person in hell is an infinitely bigger crime than the sum of all atrocious crimes in the history of man and it makes their god the infinity of sadism.

Well it always strikes me that they essentially need these concepts that appeal to the deepest insecurities of human beings, not just hell but heaven as well. It strikes me that theism tries so hard to sell itself, and apologists are like car salesman trying to convince you that you can't live without something you know you dont need.
