I like how you delay the sound from the cannons firing...makes it ultra-realistic...I gotta wonder what that huge thing is.

My only gripe is when the jets get wiped out...doesn't really look that good, the jets just suddenly disappear and you see that smoky explosion...just doesn't look that big, I'd expect a huge explosion capable of wiping out a jet fighter squadron to be more spherical..plus maybe have wrecked jets falling out of the sky...

This shit is really frightening. The ambient audio really makes it live. It's like an alien invasion Cloverfield. On this segment I only just "got" the fact that the ships are an open matrix, a webwork of structure with that energy source somewhere in the heart, which only deepens the WTF element of this. Perhaps air flows through the craft as they travel in our atmosphere... our conventional weapons somehow diverted through the matrix harmlessly. This is really fresh! Kamakasi B-52s!

You're definitly right on the hand held camera advice, this was my first attemp at compositing and now when I look back on it, I cringe..! I had often times thought of removing this part 1 and 2 from the series because it was too much of a W.I.P., but like you said, it has some entertainment value in it so I keep it up! I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the series which has better use of these techniques. Cheers!!!

manbird...one question...how do you get the quick out of focus effect when zooming in....ive trued played with the focus but it spacks out when i change it about...any tips.

You just have to play with the effect a bit to get it just right. Takes lots of practice. What's wrong with yours?

I checked your videos and I love the settings. I think the Keyframing in that program are a little tricky. You're right, it's easy to have a keyframe adjusts it's curves to the point where it transistions all wrong. And I know VERy little about animating in that program..which is partly why i started with the huge and slow UFOs! For me, I had to "destroy object animation" quite a bit until I got it right.

The next installement I'm working on shows the Main mother ship arriving (where the Los Roques UFO weapons platforms come from), which is far bigger than any ship shown in the series so far. Then there will be another video that shows a tremendous nuclear response last ditch effort against tens of thousands of these things, that may or may not have an effect.....stay tuned!

Thankyou! I used Vue 6 for this one. This was my first try at compositing so it's a little rough. But Vue 6 was used to create the cities and of course the UFO, the editing was done in Sony Vegas.

I just figured that because of those final words on the screen. "and millions more are on there way" right after that scene. And it really wouldn't make sense for them to fire launchers from down on the ground when they could just as easily do it from space out of harms way.

Very true. THese things are kinda of strange the way I make them behave, partially becuase they are almost like sherman tanks in that they fire seemingly machinegun like turrets and move mechanically. So this might be something I can develope, perhaps create a different type of UFO that is not as advanced as the ones in usual movies, yet more powerfull and unalive/spooky.

Hi Escaping! You're right about the signal!! I figured most people would assume it was a sort of nuclear launch, but it WAS a signal for the other 10's of millions of the smaller one mile wide weapons platforms to come. You put a smile on my face!

You're almost right. I used flightsimulator for some of it. No offense taken. It's not supposed to look real. It's supposed to be fun. To make this over a city requires something different. Sometimes prohibitively so, since I don't have months to spend modelling out an entire city or buying premade ones, for this short series. So I use the tools that I have to portray my idea of this film. But in 30 hours, this is pretty much the best you're gonna get!! There's still much more to learn.... :)
