Has anyone had problems with this? I followed this tutorial exactly, received no errors when finished. My ATV2 screen blanked out and never came back on. The Apple logo came on but then screen was just blank and blinking blank like as if ATV2 wasn't connected at all when it was fully connected. I was only able to resolve by reflashing my ATV2. Now, I am scared shit*less to try again as I don't want the same thing to happen. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do to fix?

@evomasterryan AppleTV is ios firmware 4.2.1 and above I believe... lowtide is for iOS 4.2.0 and below... Might be wrong on the exact firmware

@myhsv np, if I remember correctly at the end of that line, authentication token failure it asks you if you want to continue then y/n?

So type y and press enter and you should be good. Let me know if thats not the case.

No problemo, it should be as easy as typing apt-get install whatever the new package is since apt-get install is the command to install a app. so in this case it should be as simple as copying and pasting the following code.

apt-get install com.plex.client.plugin

then the rest of the code should still work fine. I will make a note of this in my command list. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and let me know if it doesn't work!

What password are you supposed to type in after you root the ip? I have been typing in my wpa router password and it hasnt been working and my apple tv has no password.

i type the apt-get update and it was installing but it didnt finished the installation and it just said there E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. What can i do about this?? thanks

I don´t if someone already asked you that, but can i watch my movies from a external drive attached to the micro usb port? does it (movie) play with subtitles (.srt)? Sorry man, but i´m kind of a noob on this...

@jcbrodt as of right now it is not possible. I am sure the there are people out there that will work on providing that functionality in the future, but ATV is pretty new thats why there is only ssh command line stuff to prompt things. I would way rather hook up my ext hd to my atv then have to leave my computer on for my atv to stream its content.!!!

@JnTL Just have your ATV plugged into your TV using the HDMI cable, nothing else. You will ssh into your ATV using the wifi network of your house. No cables necessary, just go into the ATV setting and make sure its using the same internet as your computer, and open up Terminal.

@icglocmac I dont have a windows to verify this, but I googled how to you ssh your apple tv with windows and I got back WinSCP or Putty, most people seem to recommend Putty though! Hope that helps
