For newcomers to Jim Hall's artistry, I would strongly recommend the recordings of the Paul Desmond Quartet w/Jim Hall - they are usually listed that way in the title. Also, a record Paul Desmond made w/Hall called Bossa Antigua.
Hey ohboy321321, maybe your humor indeed is out of my league. like another here, i couldn't distinguish it from the moronic comments one often encounters on YouTube. yeah, you had me going with that "hare-brained talentless lounge act" bit. but it's nice to finally hear that you're a man of musical taste who can appreciate jim hall's immense talent. now that i know that, i'll be able to sleep at night. (now that's sarcasm!)
Hey,ohboy321321, you certainly revealed your musical ignorance not knowing who either bill evans or jill hall were. and calling them "hare-brained, talentless lounge acts" showed your lack of taste, too. i guess with your limited musical scope you can't be expected to appreciate the lyrical genius of both players - they're clearly out of your league. that's why you admire a fucking lightweight hack like john mayer, instead. he's so annoying they do a parody of him singing on SNL. ha ha ha!!!
you just revealed your limited comedic scope. my humor is clearly out of your league. thats why i posted my original comment: i knew someone like you would get all up in arms about it, as if i personally attacked a member of your family. so i guess all of that analysis of my taste in music was a waste of time, huh. thanks for validating my sarcasm, slick! i hope knowing that i actually like this song brings you some emotional relief
.... i don't even know how to respond to your comment.. vanessa carlton? john mayer? these are your musical idols? they're merely pop stars.
You need to broaden your horizon, any self respecting musician, or human being for that matter could appreciate this music. Clearly you don't know much other than what MTV feeds you.
you respond to it by laughing. do you really think a real fan of that garbage just stumbles across this song by chance, if at all? your sense of humor isnt nearly as refined as your musical taste!
i am writing/performing my thesis on jim hall!! i am road-tripping from chicago to grand rapids to see him and bill frisell in october! the world of music is such a better place because of jim hall. thank you for posting!! i have this on vinyl, but it was hip with the painting.
im listening to it for the 5th straight time now. it's brilliant..

This is so great! The painting seems to match it the music so well. Can anyone recommend a place to start with Jim Hall?
