If people didn't drop so much shit on the ground there wouldn't be so much to throw in the air. I've never seen the wave with so many airborne object. Funny as. But banning, hardly policeable is it?
i work at the scg as crowd safety the mexican wave is not illegal its banned act from cricket association, and yes we usaully can pik the single instigater.
Yeah all illeagal, but having a kickass time. I love that joke, it's so old and out dated but the Brits still find it funny. A bit like there country...
Logistically it creates too much rubbish when people throw things up into the air. Which is fair enough, because a lot of people get beer splashed onto them. But realistically, it's a stupid ruule. Hence the flouting of the ban.
wasn't that bad actually. must've been a sea breeze thing which made the place cooler than the other suburbs that were copping the 35+ degrees. or maybe it was just the flying beer that made the difference...
it's a great atmosphere....!!

what is the logic behind making the wave illegal?
Obobbyss 3 years ago
apparently when people do this they throw beer and stuff in the air, so they tried to ban it. doesnt stop it though.
lionspremiers08 2 years ago
It was because people were throwing bottles and heavy items causing injury to others, not because it was putting the players off.

You used to be able to bring in your own esky full of beer (24 can limit though!!) in the 1970s.
Used to be a few half full cans flying about and the odd BBQ chicken too.
And there was often fighting on the hill.
The memories ...
