The collapse of the wave-function by observation does not mean your sole intention of measuring changes reality, nor does it mean that your conscious decision of observing does. The fact is that, if you want to measure the position of, say, an electron, you have to interact with it via light waves (for you to see it), and this physical interaction influences it's stance.
