I'm sure Protestants were intimidated after the Treaty. Most of the Protestants in the South were landowners or otherwise more well off, so I don't think the Irish peasantry was eager for a bloodbath. The haves are usually protected. Even when they lose. The Ulster statelet was deliberately conceived to be an enclave of Protest hegonemy. No one seems to remember willie Brady. Looked great in one of those fisherman's sweaters.
yes i agree wit seanousboy sr1m version is the best i heard and i saw them live in germany last month and never in my life hav i witnes so much people fainting these dudes are simple amazing they are going to be very very big and they seem not to even know how gd they are real fucking down 2 earth people we even had a drink and a spliff wit them after which made my wifes evening lovely blokes
beautiful version of this grt song but i have 2 agree with the comment that says secrets revealed one movement version is by far the most unique version i have ever have the pleasure of listening to
Alli is lovely from the hand of God,,..and don't you forget it...ultimately, there is no tragedy...but I will say this....throughout the world,, there isn't a one who can sketch it according the Irish way...
a sad day in irish history 12 may 1916 sean mac dermid and james connely shoot, also 12 may 1919 sean hogan is rescued in knocklong by dan breen and sean tracey,12 may 1921 paddy dalton shoot dead co kerry,12 may 1981 francis hughes second hungar stricker dies,12 may i was born
we did the commemoration for that two years ago martin ferris daughter spoke at it gave a great speech. There is one this year for it should be coming up soon coloured party band etc
from kerry great song and great lads true republicans not like some to day .wolf tones way is the best for ireland. to unite all irish men what a statement wolf tone the hero of ireland
I visited the valley of Knockanure last year and the Kerry writer Gabriel Fitzmaurice sang this haunting ballad there, in front of the cross. Moving experience.
Paddy Dalton was my Grandmothers cousin...that would make my grandmother and your grandparnet cousins...which would make us god knows but of the same stock
Excellent version of the tune! The Wolfe Tones made a good job of it but this is the way it should be done! Two questions though......Who is the lady singing and does she have a CD out?
The lady singing is a great singer called Peggy Sweeney and as far as i'm aware she hasn't got a cd out which is a pity as she is an amazing singer she would be a brilliant ballad singer.
excellent singing so calm and natural, the knockanure accent make it surely- great song
