  • very cool thanks for posting this.

  • My local liquor store that specializes in craft beers has a bottle of Utopias.

  • This video is hilarious, a couple random guys standing in a kitchen drinking a $385 bottle of beer after some mexican food. The priest shirt just makes it even more ridiculous lol!! Good job guys.

ps I would have loved to see the bong of this hahaha

  • @gaallegos a bong of it? never. I'd shit tar.

    -spoon

  • whats with the priest shirt?

  • @nwpamundsen it makes me feel closer to God while drinking

    -most reverend fr. spoon

  • @nwpamundsen i didnt noticed until you said somethin lol

  • badass

  • the clergymen's shirt just lays the icing on the $385 cake. my uncle let me have a glass of his utopias this past christmas, it actually tastes more like a cognac than beer. i don't think its worth the 400 dollars, but its really good!

  • oh yeah we'd never pay that much for one thats why we liked the free gift :)

    cheers!

    spoon

  • JESUS, what a brew !! I just read up on Samuel Adams, those commercials drive me crazy !

I never see em here in Florida, crummy gas stations =\=\=\

I thought Mickey's was the bombest beer, jesus, I didn't know beer existed like 10% or higher, that's wild !! Good shit shouldidrinkthat l0l0l0l

  • word came out this week of a beer at 40% ABV! that'll put hair on your ass!

    cheers!

    spoon

  • @shouldidrinkthat atomic penguin

  • I wish that guy was my priest..

  • Aye no need to be bastards about it! Even a priest can appreciate a good beer every now and then.

  • Nuclear Penguin lol

  • oooohhhhhh man I know of Nuclear Penguin. We just started getting BrewDog around here recently and I love everything I've had.

    cheers!

    spoon

  • Nuclear Penguin tastes like they just brewed it to be as boozy as possible and said to hell with taste. Yech. Sam Adam's 2009 Utopia was just amazing. I've rarely tasted wines as complex and layers as SAU, certian never a beer before.

  • the Nuclear Pengui kicks its ass but it looks like a grate beer

  • Is that a Catholic priest?

  • seriously?

    -Father Spoon

  • The only reason that the beer has no carbonation is becasue the percentage of alcohol is so high that the alcohol acutally fights off any corbonation thats in the bottle....hense why none of your hard liqour is carbonated....heard that one on the radio today!!!

  • after I stopped recording my buddy who was there (and is an alcohol rep) was giving me all of the details on it. amazing what Sammy Adams does!

    cheers

    -spoon

  • Is your friend a priest?

  • I'm the hippest man of the cloth ever

    Cheers!

    -fatherspoon

  • wow i wanna be your friend!!

  • Thats amazing what they can do with just yeast. Normally that concentration of alcohol would require distillation.

  • So this is a flat beer? No bubbles? Do you drink it cold or room temperature like a brandy or something?

  • there is no carbonation to this one but I wouldn't say its flat. Don't want you to think its like flat soda pop. I drank it at room temp which I think is fitting for this. It drinks like a port wine.

    cheers!

    -spoon

  • Yeah, cold. Put ice cubes in it. And you do it like a shot. And you can do a lot of it, cuz it doesn't have much alcohol, it's cheap and you can find it anywhere. I cook with it sometimes.

  • I can appreciate where you are coming from , but for the money spent is was drank at a rather odd time and in a sense "wasted" but it's your choice and all the power to ya for sipping $300 in your kitchen with one buddy :)

  • the money spend was $0.00 it was a gift and split with 2 buddies in my kitchen :)

    cheers!

    -spoon

  • abovefilms,

Samuel Adams Utopias is not offered in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, or West Virginia. So you should be able to get this when available IF they ship to CA which I believe they do. Also if im not mistaken this is released around the holiday season.

  • where the heck can i get this in los angeles?

  • it's all good. We usually get a lot of BMC drinkers who give us hell because we appreciate good beer and that we drink these for the craftsmanship it takes to brew... and not the :hey lets get drunk really quick and f*ck shite up!"

Most of our videos are things fans of our podcast suggest us make, purely as entertainment.

  • And thats how you waste one utopia, my friends.

  • friends who get together once every 1-2 years drinking a rare beer. Yeah that's being wasteful. That my friends is how you should drink it.

  • So you drink it because its rare? thank you for proving my point.

Cheers to you for getting one. Im just saying it looks like you have no idea what youre drinking and that "OH SHT WE GONNA GET HAMMERED NAO" mentality.

  • "So you drink it because its rare? thank you for proving my point."

So drinking a rare beer is wasteful then eh? If you like to save beer and stare at it then by all means go for it. One reason for craft beer is celebration and that's what we did. I fail to see how any of that would lead to ""OH SHT WE GONNA GET HAMMERED NAO" mentality". in no way would we get hammered with the serving sizes we had. We savored it the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

  • I was just giving out my first impression, i do apologize if i misjudged the situation.

Its just that its difficult enough to find affordable Utopias without the demand that comes from the BMC/"get hammered quick" type drinkers.

    No harm, intended.

  • Man...if only I could find a place that sells the stuff, I'd buy a bottle.

  • You can usually find a good deal on it through Ebay. Just check with your state laws for shipping in alcohol.

  • Shit! I want some. But I can't ship to TN.

  • i just looked it up and its 600 dollars a bottle

  • Damn, that's expensive! But considering what the stuff is, it ought to be.

  • he's a preist hahaha good shit man

    CHEERS.

  • Nice video. Considering how easily (and relatively cheaply) one can get most Trappist beers, I can't imagine Utopias being worth the price or hassle. But if you don't have to pay for it....

  • We'd never pay for a bottle of it. Once you have it you're good for life.

    Cheers!

    -spoon

  • how'd you get that? on ebay? heard they go for like $200

  • Drew (who you see first) bought it when it first came out for $75 and sat on it for years. Right before that we checked ebay and it was going for almost $500. Was it worth it? yeah because we didnt have to pay for it :)

    cheers!

    spoon

  • hey, other than ebay where can i get this stuff? i live in NY and ebay is usually for $400-$600.

    any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Your best bet is to buy on Ebay or beg Sammy Adams to hook you up. Some specialty stores carry it but rare.

  • where do you get them and what is the cost?

  • I can't look at a bottle of that without salivating

  • he said fuzzy instead of fizzy

  • isn't this pretty much a cognac

  • At first I was thinking a cognac/brandy but by the finish it was more of a port wine. Don't think I could ever drink one again.

  • whoa, I only spent $140 on my 2007 bottle.. did you say $380?? maybe I'll sell the one I have left.

    Cool vid, though

  • Keep in mind that this is an early release also and not a recent one. I had looked up the price on Ebay before we made the video.

    cheers!

    father spoon

  • nice... Is he really a priest? Because if he is = thats fucken awesome. You can special order utopias from Jensons or Bristol farms for 245.00 or around there.

  • More of an ordained minister than a priest but I guess it depends on religion. That's absolutely a special occasion beer. Would I buy one? probably not... but it's tempting.

    cheers!

    -father spoon

  • Yeah, I can't say I enjoy their bock that comes in the small blue bottles and costs 6 dollars either - its like rancid chocolate syrup. Based on that, I'm not sure how much promise a product with a much bigger price tag from the same company's going to be.

  • Would we ever pay that amount for this beer? HELL naw. Since this was brought as a gift it was bottoms up :)

  • you no it sucks ,waste of money. should of got an ounce of chronic

  • i wonter what dirt you must smoke if it only goes for 150 per O

  • It was free jackass. go smoke another one and play in traffic.

  • ohh don't be nyasty, kandace!
