  • Nice...wish we could wear them these days.

  • Lovely-- thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful dress. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Omg!! You are seriously brilliant!! Where can I buy the pattern for that??? Did you build the corset in or made it separately?

  • Where did you get it??

  • @Mixedbeauty3 I made it myself!

  • how did they waer this stuff when it got 100 degrees

  • A gorgeous piece-simple marvelous, simple and stunning!

  • Your dress is just beautiful!

  • People did not wear glasses back then. Apart from that, excellent work. It is like stepping back in time.

  • @BronxRapper Actually people DID wear glasses back then. When you look at old Victorian photos (or Tin Type or daguerreotypes... popular in the 1840's but costly) you can see many folks wearing glasses... young women included. In fact, I own a pair of glasses (passed down through the family) that date somewhere from the mid 1800's.

    BTW, the gown is GORGEOUS!!!!

  • @BronxRapper People DID wear glasses in the 1840s. In fact, Benjamin Franklin invented bifocals.

  • You look wonderful !

I know that dress cost you a pretty penny. everyday I dress on period clothing. Infact I always have since I was 11 years old.

  • Wow lucky! I heard those dresses are very expensive! I wish I could wear one someday!

  • is the contrast piping usual for this time period and are those buttons on the front? i LOVE the look and color - its very flattering. may have to try 1840's too! :)

  • This is not victorian.

  • @UchihaLilith89 Yes it is.

  • @UchihaLilith89

Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837. This dress is in the style of the early 1840s, which, while still at the beginning of Victoria's reign, is definitely Victorian.

  • @UchihaLilith89 Yes, Queen Victoria had quite a long run as ruler... and her era spans many different fashions. While this is very early in her reign this gown is certainly victorian.

    LOVELY GOWN!

  • @UchihaLilith89 Yes it is, early Victorian.

  • To be or not to be......

  • My girl friend is menight (amish ) and wears old dresses if we ever get married she will convert to my church, but she will still dress in 19th century clothing becouse she do's not feel comfurtable wearing modern clothing I think this type of dress would look good on her and would not stand out as much as menight (amish) clothing

  • Do you have the pattern for it?

  • I adapted the pattern from a couple of the 1840s bodice and sleeve options in Jean Hunnisett's "Period Costumes for Stage & Screen 1800-1909".

  • Nice dress. Where do you wear these dresses you make at.
