its called noodling. they take barrels or old tubs and cut a "doggy door" in them and the catfish use them to "hang out" in. this is according to a southern buddy who used to noodle. ive seen his pics at his house and they are even bigger than these two. its a southern thing i guess.

the catfish spawn in big holes. they sink barrels so the cats will get in em. They protect their spot, so they won't leave. wiggle your fingers and they will bite your hand, or on a big cat such as those, they'll just about swallow your arm.

You have obviously never seen or heard of noodling. Not trying to be rude, but it's a common sport here in the south. Male Catfish protect their brood for about 3 weeks after they hatch not including the time before hatching. They typically will bite quite literally ANYTHING that comes near the nest during this time. Including human arms. It is actually such a successful method, that some states are considering regulating or outlawing it

there are certain areas and certain types of fish where you can fish like this. you find their burrows (or holes) in the sand/dirt at the bottom. all you do is stick your arm in and the fish will bite you. you must need to make sure you push your arm out through their gills and you have them caught. although they do have teeth...
