It is all well and good to play the blame game but the fact of the matter is drugs is so widespread & apparant that we should be using ANY tactic at this point to save lives. In my opinion you dont need to take a certain drug to understand it, the result & consequences of it say enough. You will also find that programs & initiatives created are often developed by or with people who have either taken drugs or still do, so blaming the government or education is not helping matters....
Assuming you are a parent lucky enough to get conversation started, what do you say without appearing to condone it. And what do you say when they ask if you took it when you were their age and what do you say to the informed ones that tell you your glass of wine or your cigarette is far worse? I'm a parent and very interested in how other parents cope.
The weak minded people are the ones who unquestioningly accepted whatever they were told by their third grade teachers, government funded commercials and the inexperienced
yeah you are...caus obviously it mustn't be a very good job or a very good girl since you need drugs to make you feel better huh? so absolutely 110% you are a fucking loser..next!!!
People who take drugs are losers end of story who get sucked in or pressured in. They're pussies who can't keep up and dipshit tossers. Drug dealers should have their heads chopped off like in the middle east and other countries and drug takers should have their hands chopped off. Bring back capital punishment for these tosspots
this is awesome. very biased opinion from some people. the man that was there in place of the gov rep was totally clueless about drugs. he is going off figures and other people. not cool.
in my opinion the majority of anti-drug campaigners let the fear of the unknown prevail in their judgement. until they have tried it themselves how can they ever possibly understand? the harsh politics that surrounds drug use is not the answer... what people must understand is the drug culture will never go away. prohibition is not the answer and the reality of it can be seen right before your eyes folks.
entirely agree; the harm minimization approach accepts that drug use has always been a part of society and will always be a part of society.Simply striking fear in parents, as these advertisements did, will not prevent all teens from experimenting and risk taking behavior. If 1 informed ppl about drugs they can make their own decisions about it and feel informed no matter their choice. after all ppl will make the connection that users dont do drugs cos of the risks they do it cos of the rewards.
Thus it is my belief if one's goal was to curb the drug using trend (despite drug related crime & illnesses going down since harm min implementation drug use has actually gone up) the anti drug campaigns need to target the desires and motivation for ppl to use drugs. Some slogan like "are you really having fun?" will be more relevant to this demographic of society then "u take 1 pill a AND U WILL DIE!!!!!!!!" I'd love to hear more thoughts on the issue even if u completely disagree with me :)
thats very true...and how did the father know that the pill that she had taken was pure MDMA as he says in this discussion...no doubt he is totally unaware and sees that she has taken a drug so blames that. to biased.
It is simple - education, awareness, decriminalisation, & regulation is key to combating the current problems (directly & indirectly) associated to recreational drug use. Also, it is rather ironic that the people in power are applying out-dated ideas to a modern problems.
the people in the clubs are stoopid, especially those 2 dumb bitches and the stupid rasta bong head, dim wits who have no idea about he compounds they are taking, do some research, read some chemistry, its not xtc its mdma, mda, mbdb, pma ,tma ,,methylone, mdpv, dont take it until u know !
Good on you enlighten. I think what you guys do is the most realistic approach to dealing with kind of issue. Thanks for the video as well.
The problem is the advertisments aren't the proper medium to reach out to people our age. We see right through the ads, and none of us will be scared enough to effect us. We know they are scare campaigns, and the greater part of drug users aren't watching telly but are partying hard.

The Howard government doesn't care about saving lives. All they care about is restricting choice.
