Yes, India is subsidizing the 'high end' American labor force. This 'brain drain' is real and we Americans benefit greatly from these students. I think the solution is not to blame the USA or the students for leaving. The problem is India's byzantine government and the massive amount of red tape and bureaucracy that stifles entrepreneurs. Very much mistaken point of view. The education was similar to any other colleges. If you see the syllabus is same and even the prescribed books is same. Campus/Workshops are same and even the professor's qualifications is similar. The only thing which is different in IITs is entrance exam JEE that make the whole difference.

India has adopted a management system which is a combination of British era occupational standards mingled with manu smrithi teachings. In USA an undergraduate like Bill Gates is allowed to develop softwares and market them all over the world. In USA trade qualified people (ITI equivallent) holds managerial positions but in India ITI people remain as worker through out his career. This happens in India because Manu Smirithi teachings says that worker (Shudra) should be allowed to come up.

Not only India's IIT graduates can compete with American counter parts even India's ITI graduates are also capable of competing with American counter parts. American education system give much importance to practical oriented education where as India gives theory oriented education. Quite naturally Indian IIT graduates have edge over American counter parts. But American engineers good in R&D. Let's face it - even though IITians are a great means to develop India, they are NOT the only means to! Where are the other engineering colleges? Surely, they're not relaxed because IITIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THE WHOLE DEVELOPEMENT THINGY?

But as an intellectual person I think my point is fair enough! I am IN THE LINE SIR!!! Very much mistaken point of view. The education was similar to any other colleges. If you see the syllabus is same and even the prescribed books is same. Campus/Workshops are same and even the professor's qualifications is similar. The only thing which is different in IITs is entrance exam JEE that make the whole difference.

@sandeepgiri123; In the IIT, there is no prescribed syllabus. A PhD in respective field with some research experience is the MINIMUM qualification for a teacher at IIT. The methodology of teaching is completely different from others. 400 thousand students cannot be fools every year!

I really wanted to get into IIT. did well in CBSE uptill 10th and then was forced to change to state board. I still joined up correspondance course and studied but didn't get thru.
