Holla! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (just google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got amazing Six pack abs and lost a lot of weight with it.
Hi there.. Do you bleed the tuna after catching the little guys or is that for bigger tuna? Also do you put them on ice for the trip home? Thanks for the video, better then some I've seen, meanly for the commentary.
you may want practice taking less tuna. If every boat that goes out takes 40+ tuna do you expect to have tuna to catch in a few years? Keep in mind the commercial guys really beat up on them. 2 tuna per person fishing is plenty when the average 12-20 pounds and bigger. Nice job on the carking! Responsible fishing will leave fish to catch and enjoy for generations.
The fishery on the west coast here is troll caught only. We take very few albacore and we do it in a very sustainable way. The Monterey Bay Aquarium rates this fishery as the "best choice." The take is a very small percentage of biomass and is certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.
where did you catch these fish?? humans are gradually and gradually destroying the/our oceans with excessing killing of animals and complete destruction of ecosystems!! :(
I'm not going to say anything negative about the way he "carked" the albie, he's much better than me, however, I'd ask you to watch some of the other vids on youtube, namely this o0nn7ʇ1ııǝɐ=ʌ¿ɥɔʇɐʍ/ɯoɔ˙ǝqnʇnoʎ˙ʍʍʍ//:dʇʇɥ
I understand that they are two very different fish, and the anatomy (skeletal structure) are completely different. However, I'd like to point out how nothing goes to waste with these particular fish mongers.
It's a great example of how all fish should be respected.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
1:16 parasitic worm---dark red channel---do not eat that part raw!!!
1:28 big red dots---Yaks!! red cysts where worm eggs, worm larvae and little worms thrived. HaHaHa! So-called "Tuna Cleaning"--too late for the tuna itself!!!!
@oizsie The red channel is the blood line you trim this off. The red dot was where the tuna was gaffed. There were no worms, cysts, or eggs in any of this meat.
@oizsie For you information, pelagic fish such as tuna, or in this case, Albacore contain the least amount of parasites. Younger (smaller), tuna such as the one in the is video have even less. Those dark red areas shown in the video are definitely NOT parasites. As bndfishing pointed out, the dark red area is the "bloodline", and it's common among almost all fish in one way or another.
Try a little research on fish anatomy before you start spouting off.
@krogshede #1 that is not a tunafish. it's a true albacore. #2 any true pro yields 42-43% on any tuna over 20lbs., if they know what they are doing! 70% is a stretch unless you have the luxury to clean one fish a day ; try 250+ in less than 4hrs. you can read the newspaper through the carcass. #3 finning a tunafish is ridiculous. if you know how to trace you avoid all problem spots. you don't have to cut ; the knife is more of an assit to loin the tuna fish. come by pcyc to see for yourself!
Right on fellas.. We just spent 4 hours peelin some YFT we chunked. This is how you loin a tuna. There are alot of peiple that have no idea about tuna fishing and what is waste and whatnot. @wenjilu Blue Fin tuna the belly meat is what it's all about. Albacore Tuna are not the same sort of quality for Sushi. Still good looking fish and I'm sure they were freaking great fun to catch!! Nice work on the cleaning.. made me hungry!!
Too many fish off California!? I thought the sardine fishery collapsed out of site and that many species of abalone were harvested beyond common sense?
Also spearfishing should be more restricted due to its tendency to select the largest and most fecund fish. Try using a rod, catching the fish and letting it go! That's my way : )
@mnidg84 Spearfishing is for food only.. we don't abuse fish and release them back.. Try freediving to 60+ feet shooting a fish and getting it to the boat and then filleting and eating.. that's our way.

stop making up stupid words. Its called "preparation". I know your trying to make yourself feel special by giving it a name, but its unnecessary. Fish preparation. Besides, carking is already a word. It means "to burdan yourself with worry".
Oh, and when your preparing your fish, try not to waste so much. You do realise that Tuna is becomming an endangered species, right?

@keneta666 the toro your wailing about is actually right behind the gill and above that little fin on their side, it's not along the belly, that meat tastes terrible.
@BrothersFreedive by 'prized belly' i was referring to the whole belly not specifically the otoro and chutoro which you are wailing about. and as far as chutoro tasting terrible that is your opinion which many would disagree with as it is easily utilized in specialty dishes and is still considered a choice cut
@keneta666 chutoro is only good for negi toro with a lot of green onions cause it smells awful and is mostly fat rather than nicely marbled. The normal toro is only good raw, and these folks don't eat it raw obviously. if you were to cook toro it also tastes and looks terrible. clearly these people have no use for it.
so interesting.. I think fishing is fun, but I'm not a big fish eater. Kinda grosses me out. Are there any fish that don't have that salmon/tuna/fishy taste? Kind of like tilapia?
Ummmmm, it's hard to fish when you're puking over the side. I think I'm destined to catch shellfish, crabs and fish from shore! Have a great seafaring day! :o) <: == <
I just filleted my first whole tuna and did a pretty good job, thanks to your video. I bought a 20 lb. tuna at Westport, WA and now it's all in pretty fillets. THANKS!
What a great life having a boat going in the ocean caching 50 frinken tuna come home freinds kids faimly man it dont get better then that. One day I to hope to be there.
People who say you leave to much meat on a fish are the same people who steam their fish and eat everything... You would cry if you saw how much of a snapper is wasted lol
aww... i would kill just to catch one tuna... i bet that was alot of fun.... and how many did you say... 40 somthing... that sounds like alot of fun... i at one time caught about 7 cat fish... all about 13 pounds... some where around there... but it seems to me that gutting and cutting or carking the fish... is that which i injoy the most... but when i cook it... its so good... i love fish.... thank GOD for fish... haha
Gte your facts right: The FDA sets the mercury limits not the EPA. The Methyl mercury limits are set to be 1ppm wich is ten time lower than the loest amount known to casue harm to the fetus in a pregnant woman- so thelimit for non pregnant people is much hiigher, this making tuna sowrdifsh and shark very safe to eat. The fat in Blue fin and other fish is good the for the heart and mind-propaganda onyl goes so far befor people do their own thinking.
Not to mention the troll caught tuna on the west coast have a lot lower mercury content than albacore from other parts of the ocean, we have the young fast fish.
albacore is not expensive you can go down to the docks in westport washington and buy it for about 1,75 a pound for whole fish and about 3.75 for loins.
Dude you should watch the japanese guy do it its under my favourites. The title's all in japanese. Their awesome at precision cutting fishes and sushi. This is not bad but really messy
Fact.....A single six-ounce can of albacore, sold as " white tuna" exceeds the Us Environmental Protection Agency's limit by thirty per cent. Bluefin is a brain food that makes you stupider. Single serving typically contains over one part per million of mercury about sixty times more than a similar serving of sardines. Question...why do people get so hostile on the comment pages when someone enters a perfectly valid point, like MixingLaboratory?
If you thought this was a riveting fishing video, then you must see Uncle Humphrey's How to fillet a mullet video. Prepare yourself for the edge of your seat.
Yeah this is a great vid, I sometimes go Albacore fishing up here in British Columbia in the summer....
Im really happy to see how you mention to use for fingers to peel the loin after the first cut to often I see people screw it up by trying to do everything with the knife!
The tuna we get off the Oregon coast are 2-4 year old albacore. Unfortunalty we don't get many of the really big tuna but the albacore we get are in prime condition and the best eating.
Holla! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (just google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got amazing Six pack abs and lost a lot of weight with it.

THANKS!
aspenglow24 2 years ago

People who say you leave to much meat on a fish are the same people who steam their fish and eat everything... You would cry if you saw how much of a snapper is wasted lol

The EPA is known for making outrageous claims. They just aim to stop people from eating fish, period. Everything you eat has mercury in it.
mmmmmarcus 2 years ago
nice! beautiful!
desongliu 2 years ago

Justinw699 2 years ago
when you got 200 to do by the dock, you gotta cut a little faster than that lol. great video though

hektoram 2 years ago
albacore is not expensive you can go down to the docks in westport washington and buy it for about 1,75 a pound for whole fish and about 3.75 for loins.
mod40fan 2 years ago
Shh that is a national secret. Sheesh now every one is going to go there and buy and it will cost more. Thanks..

kny4eva 3 years ago 4
if you dont eat it all the time the mercury is harmless
robertman910 3 years ago
Thanks for sharing, do you keep the belly meat or just the loins?
Will use your tech in the future, cheers

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Absolutely loaded with MERCURY. Digest that you moron.
MixingLaboratory 3 years ago
why so angry?
JohnGa66 3 years ago
Fact.....A single six-ounce can of albacore, sold as " white tuna" exceeds the Us Environmental Protection Agency's limit by thirty per cent. Bluefin is a brain food that makes you stupider. Single serving typically contains over one part per million of mercury about sixty times more than a similar serving of sardines. Question...why do people get so hostile on the comment pages when someone enters a perfectly valid point, like MixingLaboratory?

Some folks just don't like or can't take the truth. 068694 hits the nail on the head. Thanks.
MixingLaboratory 3 years ago
Even if it's the truth, what is the point of saying it? It is a stupid comment for the video.

If you thought this was a riveting fishing video, then you must see Uncle Humphrey's How to fillet a mullet video. Prepare yourself for the edge of your seat.

Yeah this is a great vid, I sometimes go Albacore fishing up here in British Columbia in the summer....
Im really happy to see how you mention to use for fingers to peel the loin after the first cut to often I see people screw it up by trying to do everything with the knife!

largemouthbassrigs 3 years ago
in hawaii we just peel off the skin without cutting off the top and bottom of the fish then we just fillet the whole side
ILMfylms 3 years ago
The tuna we get off the Oregon coast are 2-4 year old albacore. Unfortunalty we don't get many of the really big tuna but the albacore we get are in prime condition and the best eating.
