  • It's very hard to say what species of prey this is. It's small and black, so probably a blackbird, or maybe a starling. We now have over 50 prey species recorded in Derby - from swift to ruddy duck.

  • which species was the one being ate?

  • Yes - as I said in the description, both chicks eventually fed perfectly well and grew up to fly over the skies of Derby city before leaving home in the autumn.

  • lol...did no one read the video description? It says both chicks were eventually fed.

  • We often see a peregrine falcon come over our house low being chased away by a couple of crows,il have to video it.

  • SO SAD, yet very interesting how the chick finally turned its back as if it had reached some desperate state of independence, and now was in search of its own solution.

  • It's an example of a mother giving all her resources to one offspring instead of sharing between two in order to maximise her fitness- this way, she will gain more grandchildren should the one offspring she has given all her resources to survive.

  • I always feel so bad for the poor chicks who don't get any food. :(

  • how much is a female chick

  • @kolovee depends on what you want and how much she charge.

  • This video should be titled "Derby Peregrine Falcon 7 - Feeding the CHICK" since the other one is starving. ):

  • one of the chicks never got any :(

  • some pigeon just got served...literally

  • hee hee, so qute when it drops its head down

  • what about the other one

  • survival of the fittest :(

  • lol

  • Aww, oh my gosh. That's so adorable. <3 The one to the right looked so disappointed, but it's good to know that he(or she) got fed too.

  • uh... 1 way 2 get rid of our rat problem...

  • brilliant

  • thanks for sharing what we didn't get to see. i was feeling a lot of concern for the other chick.

  • A fascinating glimpse of feeding time in the nest. Very well done to all concerned .......
