yeah i was about 3 rows back from the front, i remember this riff palying while everyone was like wtf is going on and panicking, was actually really scary
luckily the rest of the gig was fucking amazing =]
ratm were insanely good on friday..i didn't want it to end!! i wanted to find the guy that looked after me at the front of the audience..think his name was alex, was wearing a red check shirt and had lip piercing (and an amaaazing tattoo!!), staying in yellow 2. if this is you, or you know who it is..please message me as i want to say thank you!! xx ps please don't put this as spam..i really wanna find him!!
Seriously, out of the 100,000+ people at Reading on Friday how many of them do you think were there to hear a party political broadcast? Hardly any of them, unlike the a small minority of hardcore fans I went there to have a good time; despite what RATM might say, you are allowed to, if you don't take yourself and life too seriously.
I agree with you dude. Im not arsed about the Politics. I suppose I agree with some of what there saying, but the point is I was there for some awesome live music.
Try not taking life seriously when you cant afford to clothe and feed yourself, or when the bombs are dropping on your head and half your family's dead. This kind of attitude is whats wrong with the world; if youre comfortable, then everything is ok, fuck everything else. Afterall, everythings 'just a laugh' innit? All for your own personal kicks.
totally totally sick... the crowd was amazing such intense moshing but at the same time all like brothers watching a fucking sick band together looking out for each other
The sound seemed fine where I was, but I'm no expert
OMFG......this shit was just fukin awesome...the crowd was fukin mental.Fuk there politics and all that crap.....and m8 if you thought the sound was a bit dodgy....go fukin closer instead of being a pussy
They were awesome to see but i thought the sound sucked BIG time. Metallica really showed them up on the suday. I blame Festival Republics sounds techs for screwing it up!
No its not lol....what a loud of shite. Reading council wouldnt put a limit on the sound for an even like reading which must make them a f*cking mint. Anyway they werent any where near as loud as metallica. I was next to the Sound stage and them moved upto the golden cirle and it was still quiet. Even then i think they could have been better despite the sound issues. Having said that it was an awesome set!
i was so high in this gig i definately just got a flashback and a rush. thanks for the film. they were definately the best there, better than metallica - which says something. rock on
i was there at leeds, the best thing ive ever seen live. ive never seen a band get every person jumping, the pits and jumping to every song made saturday the best day at leeds easilyyy
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why does such a brilliant band have to behave this way? They poked their noses into political issues beyond their element all the way through the 90's, and now they are preaching the same sh*t to a new generation. When will they realise that they are musicians, not world leaders. The same goes for U2!
EVERY citizen on this planet has a right and in my opinion responsibility to make sure that REAL issues are discussed and that the truth about real world events is known. its idiots like you who believe the rubbish your fed through news networks that keep the dictators we have for polititians in their comfortable little thrones.
This band woke me up and inspired me to read and investigate for myself the horrors that are comited in my name.
sorry mate but it realy iritates me when people deny the true perpose of music, which is to tell stories, and what better story than a real one that effects everyone in the world.
Right.....that is exactly the sort of crap I would expect to hear from someone who buys into RATM's propaganda spew. Musically they are fantastic. Politically they have an agenda equally as distorted as any news network or government.
***Just because you idolise someone, it doesn't mean they are right***
Finally, someone who shares the same view point as me. I don't see the problem with filming them anyway, as most of the morons watching don't care about the political situation.
i dont buy anything u not listening to the point 2 narrow minded u will wake up n smell the coffee but it will be 2 little n 2 late and i dont idolise ratm like yeah but never mind a
when will you realise that narrow minded thoughts like that got our country in the shit like it is cause no one does fuck all about it i recently had to take my birth cetificate to work to prove i am english should be in this country working i say wake up know your enemy long live rage
The whole basis for the formation of the band, was their politics. The essense of the band is politics. Ever actually listened to the lyrics? They are nothing without their message.
Thats what makes them so great, they mean something.
Yes you are right; their political stance is what generates those lyrics. However, not being one to analyze words I just enjoy the sound (call me shallow for being truthful if you like). My biggest grievance with RATM is the way they preach their idealism's to a majority that only want to hear the music.
Thats the fans problem, if someone likes Rage only for their sound and music, they don't have a right to expect Rage to lose their own original purpose just for them. I absolutly loved the political message while rage were playing wake up, and when they played 'the international' (socialist anthem) before the encore. My favourite bands are those with political lyrics, and it irritates me when people can't appreciate that some bands want to make a difference to the world and not just entertain.
kind of harsh thinking that you hear all their music and youre on their music page, but you dislike the message they all agree on and push for in their music. so its like "we like your 'beats', just shut up when youre talking". thats a stab to the back !!
Rage isn't letting the BBC or other broadcasters put them on TV because they won't be sold for a price. The bbc only want Rage on TV cause they're so fucking awesome, they don't care about their political message.
Rage haven't sold out, and last night were absolutely fucking amazing!
Thanks for this, must have been awesome! As a lifelong Rage fan I'm seriously gutted I missed this. The fact that Rage didn't allow the BBC to broadcast this was a further kick in the balls.
I'd love to hear Zack justify that decision. Whatever happened to reaching out to as many people as possible? Who do they think they are...makes me think it's all about the money now :(
yeh it says on the bbc website that Rage Against The Machine have choosen not to be recorded for TV or radio on this tour. Doesnt say why. they have a video of tom morrello doin Lazarus on the down, and thats it.
well aperently its coz rage said they didnt want it to be shown, but i also heard they said kill the president so maybe they didnt want them to say anything like that again, i fucking sih i was there
Whilst they were fucking awesome, there was stuff to critisize. Zach spoke very little, infact he didn't even use the word "England" at all, they could've been playing anywhere (apart from the Tony Blair reference).
Everything was rehearsed and had been done almost exactly the same way as every other tour venue (including the wake up speech, the russian song, everything).
I always thought of a Rage concert as more of a publicity event, rather than them simply playing their tracks.
It was a mental gig without a doubt and I had such a great time, but I do know what you mean. I went to see them at New York last year, and even though it was one of the most intense gigs of my life, they didn't have that fire they had when they were just coming into the scene back in the 90s. I guess it's cos they are older and they are going for a stadium kind of style. Rather than the raw small shows where they knocked out more lethal tunes like a fistfull of steel and township rebellion.
Nooo!!! I was gonna go just to see rage! But just before I left my house the ticket supplier emailed me saying they didnt have my ticket!!!! Sucked!!!!!!
LMAO!! speds!!! every1s like DA-DA-DA-DA-DADA-DADA

However Outrunner you are obv a proper rage fan man and well done for doing wat they didnt do posting vid footage of it :)

to be honest somebody who doesn't pay attention to the words in songs when they are probably more important that the music in this case,
obviously doesn't pay attention to what is actually happening to our world.
the value of your opinion on politics and the place it has in music has been undermined by yourself.

But if it was all the money they would have done the recording afterall, as the BBC would have paid RAGE for the coverage.
