Strange, ever since you left things have been getting worse for the wolves. Idaho was pushing a live bait bill, Wyoming is having wolves sport hunted in 10% of the state and the other 90% is 'shoot on sight'. Now Wisconsin has passed a bill allowing wolves to be hunted with dogs, across roads, on roads (AKA drive-by hunting)... Yup, lets hope wolves are doing good in Canada, because they won't be here in the US...
I'd like to thank congress for delisting wolves because now we have an open hunt on them. Over 200 killed so far this year in Idaho and Montana. Good shooting boys, keep up the good work.

@SharpnoseWolfy That's the thing: I don't think there is anything I CAN do. If I try to help the wolf species by breeding up their numbers, the government will just decide that there are too many of them and then I'll be back at square one.

I have once journeyed through a remote section of woods with an injun guide named Apahtu. He regaled me of tales of his tribe of the Wachatu people, where the wolf is considered the most majestic animal. As the sun was retiring for the night we were gathering wood for kindle for a small camp fire, and we heard three distinct howls in the distance. Apahtu said the three howls under a full moon were a sign of his ancients reassuring us that we were in good hands.
Later that night as we were sitting in camp resting on a days long hike, a lone wolf came and sat by our fire for a few minutes. We said nothing, but poured it some water in a small bowl. It drank and gave three howls to the moon and left.

The elk were not out of control and it was not wrong to get rid of the Wolf. What is out of control is your imagined guilt. You need to understand that Nature will not balance itself "Man is the only creature on Earth who understands the concept of Balance". The harmony in Yellowstone pre-Wolf and Grizz will never be seen again. And if something isn't done soon the "Poor" Buffalo are headed for yet another Holocaust. Just like your pet needs control so does Nature.
It wouldn't have been a problem if humans hadn't come along and started killing them too. It had been happening for hundreds of years with no problems. If anything needs to be seperated from wildlife, it's humans.
We complain about animal overpopulation, yet, there are BILLIONS of humans while there are fewer than 1,000 of certain animal species remaining. It's already been proven that humans are very destructive, look at passenger pidgeons. They were once populating everywhere and because humans thought it'd be fun to start kiling them, there were none left in a very short matter of time.
Nature needs to be left alone to run it's own course. Humans need to die orr at least get the birth/death rate under control. You say you understand the concept of balance but a human is being born every 4.2 seconds one dies once every 7 seconds. Over time, this causes a drastic problem.
If people were to get this under control I'd understand but, we complain about African children dying, if there were less people, there'd be more food therefore the only solution to problems like this is by lowering the amount of humans in the world. They don't have to be killed even. A population limit like they have in some places would easily solve the problem over time.
Don't blame elk and deer dying only on the wolves, they eat only what they need to survive, don't blame anyone but humans because they're the cause and as long as you do nothing against it, you're part of it. All comments are directed at FreeCoyote but feel free to argue with me.

Be reasonable. It would have happened either way. The wolves would have been forced out of their territory in most places near Yellowstone and gone there anyways in search of territory and food. HOWL has no guilt, real or imagined, for there is no guilt in protecting a species that might be gone before your accursed buffalo and elk could ever think of it. It's two against one now-it's my war as well.

Everyone identifies with the Wolf but no one identifies with the victims of the Wolf. The Elk and Buffalo are both Plains animals and have adapted to the Mts and were only able to do that because the Wolf and Grizz had been marginalized. And I disagree 100% with the instinct thing; if we lived solely off instinct, our life would be hectic. We're far too intelligent to live just off of it. We need our HUMAN instinct, the ones that we learn from the golden rule;
"Do onto others only what you wish to be done to yourself."
Anyways, I DO agree with one thing ... Help our wolves live. ;) Just try not to be so hard on the human race. We're the wolves greatest ally in the fight.

@KittyKraz13 What proof is there that it is all instinct? All we have are the words of scientists. Science is all theory. Not only that, I know quite a few animals who serve much more purpose by living than some humans. When there are humans sitting on their butts, expecting other people to do everything for them and there are humans randomly attacking people for pointless material possessions, they are below the animals. If we lived by instinct, the world would be better off.

Be reasonable. It would have happened either way. The wolves would have been forced out of their territory in most places near Yellowstone and gone there anyways in search of territory and food. HOWL has no guilt, real or imagined, for there is no guilt in protecting a species that might be gone before your accursed buffalo and elk could ever think of it. It's two against one now-it's my war as well.

Everyone identifies with the Wolf but no one identifies with the victims of the Wolf. The Elk and Buffalo are both Plains animals and have adapted to the Mts and were only able to do that because the Wolf and Grizz had been marginalized. They were never intended to face the Wolf in the Deep snow of Yellowstone what you fools have done is put the Elk and Buffalo of Yellowstone in a death Trap. Depraved !!!!!

well the elk were intended to face wolf in the deep snow of any place even yellowstone but it because of us that mass killings and over pouplation of wolves for we tried to right our wrongs of killing all of them and then the elk got out of control and now the wolves are out of control...if we had left nature be it would be balanced unlike it is now
