  • back 100 years ago they didn't have electric everything. it ran off on kerosene, diesel .

They could put drive belts on it for anything, processing grain, water pump, some kind of saw.

  • where are the reaquired emmision control devices?

  • I looks homemade. 5stars

  • LIke! The Coolest ever!!!!!

  • most ecologically friendly engine.XD still sounds awesome

  • These look fantastically dangerous. Getting tangled in one would be a remorseless gursome death.

  • haha that blue one got a little exited there for a minute

  • It's so neat to see this thing actually doing some work, go baby go!! Yea things operated a little less safe back then, it was before idiot proofing. It's neat to see who much work that thing can still produce, and how inertia was so important. Great video, I really enjoyed watching it.

  • @TheRealSergentSiler

Wow ur stupid that's great technology back then

  • Good old boys with their good old toys ..Ha Ha.

  • i love old ppl becasuse they love old things

  • I'd love to be there! The sound, the smell! Awesome!

  • Those are some interesting enigines. Are they petrol, disel, or steam powered?

  • These are beautiful pieces of art! Thanks for posting and preserving history!!

  • What do they call the wood splitter rig? That was amazing cutting 1/10 of a second cut, wow

  • That is a heck of a way to chop wood... neat engines otherwise.

  • @TherealSergentSiler They used these engine to keep steady rpm`s whenever the rpm is to low it "hits" and repeats

  • Propably wont get your hands into that belt or wood splitter :-)

  • beautiful machinery!!!

  • @TheRealSergentSiler This was hi-tech 100 years ago.

  • @TheRealSergentSiler Mainly because that was the only technology available at the time. Solid fuel injection was a few years off-once fuel injection was perfected, Diesels really took off (around the mid 30's).

  • @TheRealSergentSiler how on earth is it crap, its 100 year old technology

  • @TheRealSergentSiler they no crap they nice

  • @TheRealSergentSiler fuckin dumb ass

  • @TheRealSergentSiler hmmm your stupid that was high technology a long time ago with the creation of these what you seem to think is crappy engines we wouldnt be where we are now DUH!

  • @TheRealSergentSiler gotta start somewhere faggot

  • Cool!

  • diesel?

  • @karol13go steam

  • working around a large spinning open air flywheel, what could go wrong?

  • thats the real meaning of internal combustion!

  • I can only imagine what a treat this must have been for those elderly gentlemen who probably remember when their dad or granddad actually used equipment like this to make a living. Seeing these old beasts running and being used in the demonstrations is really like breathing life back to the past! Reminds me of when I got my hand stuck in the "rollers" of my Mom's washing machine!

  • analog temperature of combustion chamber test @ 2:06...

test passed... not too hot... lol

  • @240SSONLY hahaha

  • @ps2sallad not too many people get it... hahahha

check out some of my sports driving videos

  • WOW.... THIS LOOKS LIKE MARRY POPPINS TIMES ENGINE... FOR MAKING NEWS PAPER OR SOME THING...!!!! lol

remarkable, interesting starting gyro motion weird...

  • thanks for the cool video nice to see all thoes old motors

  • excellent sound quality

  • was the second one a 2-stroke?

  • WHOA that blue one real missed it didnt it?

i mean i have never seen ANY machince do that ever.

  • chuga chuga chuga woo woo

  • thats the miss stroke. dont build them like they used to :)

  • its the blow off valve buddy

  • The hop just after 3:36 is quite nice!

  • I think it is a valve that let out some compression before the engine is hot enough to run good.

This engines don't have sparkplugs. It is a bulb at the top that must be preheated (blowtorch) before you can start. Then when the engine have run for a while the bulb get hot of the compression.

  • how do you get involved in these events. I am studying to become a mechanical engineer and this seems like it would be alot of fun to watch. Is there any events similar to this in the charlotte area?

  • You have no idea what your talking about.

  • Its cool to see history of engines

  • JESUS CHRIST MY EARS

  • LOUDER THAN HELL

  • i'm 21 years old and looking for one

  • LMFAO!!

  • sounds like my old Pinto

  • lol

  • Brilliant, I love the sound of these old things.

  • It is sad, but this hobby will die out. no one young to carry it on

  • Wow - excellent video with very interesting engines! 5*!

  • What WAS that second engine? It looked and sounded rather mighty.... 0.0

  • WAY!! to many stupid people around these days to have something like this.

Very cool I love this old stuff.

  • Very nice engines - great video!

    5 Stars!

  • ficou com meda de filmar de perto? bicha! motor véio não explode

  • Great place to take your children!!

  • unless you want them the be pimped...

  • I agree!! If it wasn't for my grandfather taking me to events like this one and steam traction rallies, I may not have been so determined at becoming an engineer. Now I'm a Chief ;)

  • at 3:38 that was awsome when at start to jump around

  • jump around ! jump jump... ;)

  • jump up jump up and get down......

My coventry victor diesel jumped a bit but now its got a stronger trolley.

  • rustyknutt: at least jetdog is trying to learn something of which he currently knows nothing about; that's smart. Whadda YOU got besides insults for people you've never met coming from your own feelings of inadequacy? Don't hammer the guy; he's trying to learn.

  • cool stuff, that wood-splitter looks insanely dangerous. I want one.

  • wat is the old iron anyway????

  • are they gas or steem powerd?

  • i am highly ammused, no joke

  • I like the chopper and splitter getup. I wouldn't be putting my hands near it though!

  • where those steam engines?

what are they priced at and where could i get on?

  • I love the two at the end.. the saw and the splitter. I bet the splitter uses less fuel than one of these new hydraulic ones. I know it is faster than one i have used many times. Please, more info on the show. Is it every year or was this just once? I'm in Norway but don't mind a drive for something like this.

  • Where is this show please?

  • Sweden.

  • a Hit and Miss Engine?

  • Yes that´s the big problem on this sort of event.

  • OSHA didn't exist when all of that stuff was made, lol. People then used common sense, hmm don't put hands in too far they might get cut off.

  • Awesome.

  • The OSHA safety guy cracks me up lol.

  • Jeez, Louise - An OSHA nightmare, for certain! Also, I'm guessing you need to be feeding seasoned wood to this thing.

I can't believe the guy feeding it isn't even wearing gloves. Seems to me that an unsuccessful split could generate quite a kick.

  • So what? I'll promise you if he gets his hand in there it doesn't matter if he has gloves on or not!

  • OK, that makes sense. Still it doesn't look like the axe sticks out very far, from the notch in the table but maybe it simply doesn't need to. Wouldn't mind having one to play with ! Gotta get my cutoff saw for my Allis Chalmers model G in operation ! Thanks

  • So, how does that log splitter work ?

  • It´s a rotating "knife" inside the house.

  • I watched it again, still don't get it, would love to see it turned slowly, by hand. Obviously an OSHA nightmare ! ha Thanks

  • Well, seems that the Beijers Vimmerby oil engine just about wanted to destroy the trailer upon statup.

  • My, My, these things would be so much easier to start with an electric starter...

Still, once started, they are nice engines. :)

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • I was on the sidewalk... Can't get any farther away where I was... And name-calling? Seriously how old are you?

  • DracoSilverscar you moron, modern semi truck diesels don't idle at 3000rpm... Try 500

  • Hot-bulb engines can be a pain to start up, especially trying to get a two-stroke one to start up in the right direction.

  • try a Bolinder BM150 on a cold Scottish morning! :P

  • I like this sound! :-)

  • That hit and miss with the sawmill and log splitter on the belt is so AWESOME!!!

  • Correction. Did my maths wrong... 200 times a second counting each cylender and ignoring the exhaust stroke. ;p

  • Of course I don't think that! But a couple puffs a second is better than whats an 18 wheeler idle at? 3k RPM? V8's and V10's usually? that would be... firing 25 times a second? as compared to 3 or 4?

  • You should learn more about diesel engines before criticizing them. Those old engines are horribly inefficient compared to modern designs. Current diesel engines pollute less then gasoline engines and are more efficient.

  • I will admit that but these (When running in good nick atleast.) tend to put out a lot less in the same amount of time that newer engines do. Also i'm sorry but I'm asthmatic and have been the victem of a bigass deisel truck spewing a cloud of black smoke when the driver stepped on it to get up a hill... Was a new chevy too.

  • Great video, I wish I could afford to restore old engines like that and keep them running.

  • The description says it's a petroleum engine...actually I doubt it would run on crude oil very long; it would plug up the pump and the spray nozzle.

  • Great vid... I'm amazed old engines like these arent still in use instead of those polluting diesel buggers around now... These are far more reliable as they have to be about a century old rusted a bit and they still do thier job on command and well... great vid!

  • Great Vid!!!Although im surprised some fuckin do-gooder hasnt flagged it as inappropriate with all those exposed drive belts everywhere

  • I love how much the light blue ones jumps all around as it catches and fires a few times!

  • Some of those old engines will overspeed upon startup; that's why it was jumping around like that. i like the engine-driven wood splitter in in the last part of the video.
