dude, beckham is bigger than any team he's ever played for. He is one of the top three most recognizable sports figures in the world. bottom line his name is one of the most recognizable in the world, more so than even his team's names; man utd or real madrid.

in turn, the other manu players didn't need bodyguards because they didn't have near the celebrity.
