  • Cute kitty!!! :)

  • I hear ya - gimme the pleasure and keep it comming like you do!!!

  • super! this was really helpful!! :)just bought a harp yesterday

  • Great Video!

at 0.23 you sound like Yoda =D ROFL!

  • I LOVE THIIS GUY! Am hoping his hoodle diddle technique will help me with note bending...it certainly is a different approach so if you haven't seen that video, don't miss it!

  • "now watch what i can do with tongueblocking"

    What???

  • the audio in this vid is so blurry

i could hear the harmonica properly but not

    his voice

  • at 2:50...some animal sneaked in, behind you..did you notice?haha,

    anyways grat video, thanks

  • nighttrainjames, I've been watching all your videos and you are a great teacher. I've been playing my hohner "c" for only 3 days now, but have been able to learn and apply your techniques. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, your passion for the harp, your time and your great sence of humor. I'll be a fan for life my friend!

  • your hilarious and a great teacher! bravo!

  • You have a great sense of humor and you are a great teacher. Do you know what key i should get for my first harmonica? I'm tied between the marine band and the blues harp and so far I'm liking the blues harp. But what key should I get? Thanks!

  • you can find lessons and examples on the internet mainly for the 10 hole "C" harp. I suggest C.

  • yeah definitly get a C for your first. Blues Harp is a good choice too, I find it easier to bend with them. the wood combs make it look better too

  • For $20 you can buy the hohner piedmont blues set. It has the A, B-flat, C, D, E, F and G. They sound good and they will cover a large spectrum for cheap. Keys are tones and tones are flavors and what an F harp will inspire you to do may be completely different than how a G harp inspires you.

I put my case together one harp at a time...all marine bands. Now I favor Seydels. After all, It ain't the harp...

  • i dont understand why people have trouble with harp...but this is really cool!

  • Thanks, that was helpful and I like your cat ~ My cat loves when I sing, not sure how she feels about the harmonica, she sleeps through it

  • I mean I can* get a half note bend, not a full. Also, is there a harmonica tuning that is easier at achieving bends than another. Say a lower tuned harp might be easier than a higher tuned harp?

    Thanks.

  • My experience is that the higher keys are easier to bend. Buy yourself a hohner special 20 in the key of D (cross A). That's the one on which I first learned to bend notes on (about 10 years ago).

  • practice bending on the 2 3 and 4 hole draws. if you really want to fine tune your harp, take it apart and file the reeds down. check out Adam Gussow's video: Blues Harmonica Secrets Revealed (Gussow.016)

  • Man, that is a creepy cat at 1:55

  • Harry loves the harp. He lost a front leg in a 350 Olds motor, but ya can't barely tell, 'cept when he's walkin. He comes when I'm listening to harmonica on youtube, also. O, I too am mad for riffer;) NTJ

  • I didn't mean to offend. That is really cool that he comes when you play harp. I think you are a really great player, however, I am having trouble achieving a full bend on the first 3 holes of my c-Harp. I saw your hoodle-diddle technique, but I still seem to have a problem achieving a full step bend, I cant get a half note, but not a full ;(. Have any advice?

  • que bueno video.. muy interesante.. gracias!

  • I was wondering, could this sound ok if i have a C?

  • C's fine. The higher the pitch the less wind to make it work. The lower pitch lends itself to a comfortable, rolling rythem easily. Get a cheap A and G, if you ain't got em already. NTJ

  • i appreciate you sharing your gifts of music and life for others to enjoy....im a single dad of 4 how do i relate too my kids these days and times? i sit with my 12,13,and 10yr old boys and watch these vids and learn together even my 7 yr old girl has picked up a "jelly" thaks and keep sharing your gift thanks! and didnt know you were "famous" lol saw youe news clip! =0) take care friend!

  • Man - I think I've found a harmonica buddy who loves the instrument as much as me but you obviously have much more experience! We appreciate it

  • Throwing harp at people xD

  • John Popper does it all the time. NTJ

  • @ShadowAce34 Ow!! Something hit me in the...Hey! Free harmonica!

  • THERE! Another cat xD

  • xD? Is that a cat, JD? I never saw the letters joined before. Kinda makes me want to throw a harp @ someone, LOL! NTJ

  • xD is like a guy laughting so hard while his eyes looks like an X.

  • for a easy song it sounds nice

  • G harp Sunny Boy style. No nasty ringing sound on this harp. I love the key of G. When you played on the high end though I detected a hint of the ringing noise that is seems to be from an issue with your microphone. Please save some money and get a good microphone? I love your playing but your mic is torturing my ears on some of your videos.

  • My "microphone" is inside the C-875 Camera I am using. These vids are not about what I sound like, they are about sharing love of an instrument. I've had several harmonica buddies throughout my life, through youtube I have hundreds and I LOVE talkin harp and there is an entire community here that appreciates that and participates. I could use my Sennheiser, my aesthetic or my green bullet mikes, but they will STILL wind up being channeled through a camera mike smaller than your pinky nail. NTJ

  • which is the easiest harp song??

  • the one you can do with the least amount of effort. NTJ

  • lol the cat up in the corner must think your crazy... :P

  • hello friend , I watched your tutorials and I got myself a harmonica - I bought a hohner silver star for the good start. you inspired me and I want to learn to play it. thanks for your help and I'm looking forward to next lessons. keep up the good work.

  • Harp players have a friend for life:) It's a beautful instrument. NTJ

  • very good i hope that i learn this too^^

and Nice Cat in the Background^^ she likes Music

  • Nice video! Keep up the good work. Great.
