Wrestler tests positive for Hepatitis C before WWE debut

I believe Bob Orton, when he had a short run a couple years ago in WWE, got pulled off TV after he told management "he forgot" he had Hepatitis C. Appareently The Undertaker freaked the fuck out since Orton may have been busted open in a match with him.

I hope & pray his Hep C will go into remission. It's terrible that it happened. I have Hepatitis C, and thankfully I'm in remission. I ended up with Hep C through a tainted blood transfusion during open heart surgery in 1972. Maybe these promoters should open their eyes and think twice about these athletes getting in contact with each other's blood.

@collegestudent27 Abby has Hep C. He cut Devon with a razor blade that he had just used on himself. Abby's blood went directly in to Devon's body when he cut him with it which led to the spread of the disease. If Abby was negative it would be a different story but it has been years now and he still has not shown any negative test results.

If a boxer got cut with a Hep C covered blade in a boxing match that has nothing to do with the assumed risk of just bleeding with someone. The risk is much higher and the chance of infection is greatly increased. I doubt Devon would have agreed to the match had he known there was a possibility he'd be cut with an infected blade. Wrestling is supposed to a performance.

In addition, they wrestled several matches where they bladed. If in fact Abby did infect him, we cant discount Devon's recklessness. This is in no way comparable to boxing which is supervised by medical professionals...Abby is no doctor. This was more like unprotected sex with a girl u met at the club.

@standgordon He is not taking WWE to court because of this incident. He is taking them to court because it is against human rights to discriminate against an athlete based on Hep C status. That is why he can still compete in Olympic wrestling and is an alternate for Canada in the London games. WWE should warn people not to do bloody matches but they dont. Instead they promote guys like Abdullah which only encourages the problem in the lower leagues.

I have seen Devon wrestle live a few times on small events and you can tell from watching him that he belongs in the big time. I was really happy to hear that he will be Canada's alternate for the 2012 London games in Greco Roman wrestling. It is a step in the right direction for him.

@alansalt Well the only thing really that ties Abdullah and WWE together is that Abdullah was entered into the WWE Hall of Fame last year.. So I guess in that way WWE was promoting him.
