I have been waging a battle for some years now, trying to clean up the Wenner-run committee's dirty act and start inducting REAL Rock artists: artists like ROKY ERICKSON, STEVE MARRIOTT, IGGY POP(both solo and with the STOOGES), TODD RUNDGREN, etc. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach to see shit like Donna Summers and Madonna get inducted yet REAL Rockers get ignored year after year after year...

the r-n-r hal of fame is a fucking joke. the first members were inducted in 86, and hendrix gets inducted in 92. cream, and the doors get inducted in 93. the grateful dead and john lennon get inducted in 94. bruce springsteen and paul mccartney in 99?!?! what the hell. it shouldnt take 20 years to induct the most influential musicians into the hall of fame. and alot of great rock musicians havent even been inducted. and madonna over people like mick jagger and ozzy?! bullshit if you ask ,me...

I guess it all depends on what generation you were born into. As for me, I was born in the early 50's but embraced so-called 'rock n' roll' music around 1957 and all of the 60's to the 80's. I pretty much stopped listening to music on the radio in 1990, as I felt that 'all the good stuff' has already been done. Now I spend my days listening to NPR and grateful for it. Mind you, this is just my opinion.

aaaargh i am 40 this year....and i'm as passionate as i have ever been about it. but i look for it in other places....music blogs, british rock magazines, emusic....i am not letting getting older stop me from looking for music. top 40 radio isn't very good anymore yes but there's so much to explore...and npr is cool and all, but ya know...here's a suggestion-look for a podcast named Sound Opinions...really great....helps me keep up w/ new music I may be missing out on...

cool... i love the stooges. I've just never seen them live. I've seen iggy four times and he was awesome every time. I would like to catch them sometime. Although I don't like their latest music. I much prefer Fun House or Raw Power. Would be awesome to see Williamson back though. That would be funny since he's been this squeaky clean business guy for years.
