  • Well there's 10.01 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Rose lied to Giamatti's board of inquiry and when caught in the lies, signed an agreement to being banned from baseball. Rose did it to himself, first by gambling on baseball while a coach, then lying about it, then by agreeing to the ban in an ill-considered attempt to save his own ass.

If he had simply 'fessed-up, taken the heat like a man, done the time and the penance, then baseball would have let him back in.

  • True assholes were Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson. I'd have to rate ball players who took performance enhancing drugs a far more serious offense than gambling on games. Hornsby a member of the K.K.K. so what ?!? Who the hell likes integration?

  • There is indeed some facts to this guy's story. Hornsby was indeed a Klan member. And everyone knows about Ty Cobb. Look, I don't like Pete Rose one bit myself. As far as I'm concerned, he's an arrogant, egotistical bonehead. But the truth is he belongs in the so called Hall of Fame. Why? Because the "fame' should be accepting of players' performances ON THE FIELD-nothing else. If that's NOT the case, then other past hall of famers should be removed from the "club". NUFF SAID!!

  • @TheAssasin2525 how about Orlando Cepeda, who went to Prison for dealing drugs?

  • First of all, I am not trying to justify any of that. But the only reason that gambling is considered unforgivable is because of the Black Sox scandal. Baseball almost did not survive that.

  • your case against the babe is weak. no one should be kept out of the hall for chasing pussy

  • PISS ON HALL OF FAME . I don't need that country club and its sportswriters to tell me who is great . I watched the game . People today get too caught up in the HOF , and as a result too many great players are ignored or put in a second class , which is unfortunate . Pete Rose is a winner .

  • This guy has the record for having the most records of MLB all time. 17 time All Star and Most hits in History being two of the records...Two bad be didnt just Beat his wife, Use dope, or Use Steroids....He bet on Baseball. Fuck you Bud Selig

  • Put Pet in the HOF. He deserves to be there.

  • very good video, you make a compelling argument. no doubt some real pieces of shit are in the hall but here's the diff. if it was just pete's sad personality he'd be in there right now. but it's gambling. granted it's a disease or addiction like many things that won't get you banned, who doubts ty cobb wasn't a psychopath?

but it's gambling. gambling is more than just a serious character flaw, it throws the game itself into question, it undermines the the legitimacy of the game itself.

  • Pete Rose deserves to be in the hall of fame. Visit reinstatepeterosecom to show your support.

  • Pete Rose belongs in the HHOF, no doubt. But the aholes in baseball will only put him in after he dies, I just know it. They don't want Pete to have the satisfaction.

  • This dick head who made this video took the information from Wikipedia dumbass

  • The violin music playing fits the situation. Pete knew the rules. Period.

  • Great player who played harder than anyone else, but does't get in the hall for making a mistake after he quit playing, a joke. PETE ROSE SHOULD BE IN THE HALL, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE IS AN ASS AND A JOKE WHO DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT THIS MAN DID FOR THE GAME IN THE 60S, 70S AND 80S! Watch the videos when he played, they speak for themselves!

  • who gives a shit about the hall of fame ? I watched the man play

  • Pete Rose is more deserving of a Hall of Fame induction than Barry Bonds.

  • Shoeless Joe should be in the hall, they haven't put him for whatever reason. JOE MUST BE IN THE HALL!

  • FREE PETE

  • He could have gone against the game's integrity as a manager. As a player though his achievements were well-earned, and for that he deserves to be in the hof. As a player, not a player and manager.

  • @BLong114 Player or Manager rules are rules-Managers have to abide by the rules also-Pete Rose made a poor choice in choosing to bet on baseball-They can't change the rules just for Pete Rose-

  • @curtisjones400 Why not? They still allow players who were taking PED's to play. That is striclty against the rules. It is still up to debate whether or not to allow Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, etc. into the HOF. What they did was worse because they cheated to win. Rose just bet on games. Maybe he bet on his team to lose and intentionally sat players etc., but that was about all he could do, and doing that would hurt his stats. They make every situation unique in its penalties.

  • Yeah he bet on baseball but thats way better than taking roids.

  • Not a convincing video. He BET ON BASEBALL. The rules are very clear about that in EVERY CLUBHOUSE!

Sorry Pete, I'll always love you for how you helped the '80 Phillies win it all, but actions must have consequences.

  • Rose deserve the Hall of fame Its about time he gose in .

  • @Wehategod As much as people would like to see Pete Rose in the hall of fame (including myself) he broke the rules-they can't make a special rule just for him-he's not allowed in-You even have people running around saying that Barry Bonds should not be in the Hall of Fame but Pete Rose should-Neither one of them should be in the Hall of Fame-they both broke the rules

  • Rose was dick who could swing a bat, he had control of the team and could have them lose if he needed money end of story

  • @brnape ...No the storys not over till hes in the hall of fame where he belongs. Your a dick for being a dick.

  • uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

  • There's ONE rule in baseball, it's posted in every single clubhouse and it's not a secret. Don't bet on baseball. He did and the punishment is banishment. It's not for moral reasons, it's in order to maintain a level of trust with the fans. Pete's accomplishments are recognized in the Hall he just doesn't have a plaque, just like Shoeless Joe.

  • and k's

  • why are there not a ton of racist black guys in this cute video.ARE YOU A NEGROPHOBE OR WHAT

  • Pete's biggest sin was playing in Cincy. Put him in a Yankees or Mets uniform or even a Dodgers uni and they put him in in a flash. The Reds beat the Mets for the pennant in 73, beat the Red Sox in 75 and crushed the Yanks in 76 for all the marbles. Darryl Strawberry, Steve Howe and Dwight Gooden are all eligible for the hall (ableit won't enter), why not Pete?? He played the way you're supposed to play.

  • Comment removed

  • @mistermattmoose Do your research homework better. The Mets upset the Reds in the NLCS 1973.

  • You could add Ferguson Jenkins to the "Banned for life, then reinstated" list. He was banned for life by Bowie Kuhn for crack possession north of the border, appealed, and won.

  • Fegurson Jenkins, Cap Anson, Orlando Cepeda and other players hall of the fame hypocrits

  • You refering to Pete Rose as a fool... How many Series rings do you have? Who,outside your circle of friens and family even know you exsist? Thought so good day.

  • I believe that if Pete Rose bet on the reds as a player he should be allowed in the hall of fame -i would play my butt off also if i had money riding on the game

  • Screw all the talk he never bet on crap. He should defiantly be in the hall of fame.

  • @XxGavynxX FALSE. He admitted to betting on baseball.

  • I believe that one day Yes Pete “Charlie Hustle” Rose will be inducted into the Hall of Fame but likely posthumously. It was Ty Cobb’s 4,189 career hits who Rose surpassed. Cobb batted .400 3 times has the highest lifetime BA. @ .366 and won 12 batting titles 9 in a row from 1907-1915. Cobb was voted in with 98.23% approval. Rose was a great player no doubt and 3 championships to Cobb’s none speaks volumes but Cobbs #’s are considerably better.

  • LOL @ Pete Rose being the greatest hitter of all time, he's not close. He's also all-time leader in plate appearances and at-bats. I could think of 20+ guys I'd rather have at the plate. Craig Biggio has more hits than Ted Wililams, Babe Ruth, Griffey, Jr., etc. etc. That means Biggio was a better hitter than all of those?

  • Comment removed

  • The guy's the greatest hitter EVER, fucking put him in the Hall of Fame. Ty Cobb's racist, fan-attacking ass is there.

  • I wish Ty Cobb and Pete Rose were still in there prime. I would love to see some baseball the way they played it. I also wish they showed up to your house and beat some sense into you.

  • Pete Rose ain't a pimple on Ty Cobb's ass!

  • There was plenty of evidence against Rose that he bet on the game. The conduct of others or his statistics make him any less guilty.

  • Pete Rose is a LYING SACK OF SHIT!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This has to be one of the saddest examples of rationalization. Rose was caught breaking specific rules of conduct that bar him from induction. Running out a list of dubious characters weakens your case as you dont address the question pertaining to Rose. "I know you are but what am I" didnt get it done in grade school, why should it here.

  • you think pretty highly of yourself for someone who cant spell reported right

  • It's like this.Pete Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.No ifs ands or buts.

  • Awesome piece, JPizzle.....Pete Rose never put any kind of crap in his body and played the game the right way...meanwhile a lot of so-called heroes back in the day went out and got drunk or did drugs every night, slept around, tore up bars/nightclubs/hotels...you name it! Enough already, Bud Selig and let Charlie Hustle take his rightful place in the Hall!

  • thr precedent has been set. It pains me vecause Pete Rose was my favorite player as a kid. Pete bet on baseball and on his own team, the Reds. I do however think Shoeless Joe Jackson should be in the hall. Joe got a "lifetime ban" Joe's dead. Let him in posthimously

  • the least interesting thing to me about Rose is all the scandal . I am a fan of baseball, the game ,not the MLB organization itself although i do watch MLB because it showcases the best baseball . Pete Rose played winning baseball . The teams h e played for tended to win when Rose played .I realize the dangers that inner wagering can do to any game . Rose did not throw baseball game s.that does make to me

  • You have no clue at what you're talking about. Embarrassing really. That said Pete Rose should be in the hall.

  • I get the feeling that Bud Selig has wavered a bit on the ban on Rose and personally would like to allow him to enter the HOF. I think (and all of this is just speculation) that one reason that he hasn't removed the ban has to do with fierce opposition from some members of the Hall who may have even threatened to leave the Hall if Rose got in. I think that the late Bob Feller might have even been one of those people, but again this is just speculation.

  • OK I have to get in on this one, does Tommy Lasorda belong in the HOF??? most people say YES, why he only played 3 yrs and got 1 base hit. Oh you mean he's inducted as a manger..Hmmm.. interesting, so you can be inducted a manager and/or a player. Well then Pete broke the rules as a manager so waive his right to induction as a manager NOT a player.

  • None of this would matter if Pete had admitted guilt back in 1989. Had he done that, all would have been forgiven as Pete would already be in the HOF. But like the tough macho man that Pete is, admitting guilt is akin to being called a "coward" or a "pussy" - a red-ass like Pete would never let that happen to him. So, he lied by saying he never bet on baseball (but later admitted guilt in that stupid book he wrote). Tough shit. Pete Rose is not getting in the HOF. Deal with it.

  • Bob Lemke call me at 715-445-2709 for a free blowjob today!

  • Come one. Any athlete in ANY sport that gets caught gambling (or even working honestly in a casino) is banned for life from all sports. Drugs will only get an athlete a comparative "slap on the wrist". Pete's a whiny little faggot.

  • The HOF is a country club. Rose isn't in because A. Bartlett Giamati had a personal vendetta against him that ran for years. He and his flunky assistant who later was also made the commissioner had no respect for the game and did everything they could to ruin it.

  • M.L.B., antitrust status and monopoly status if M.L.B. and Selig won't consider his entry when others just as worthy, but much more problems socially (separate but equal) are in. Why was he on one ballot of the hall of fame anyhow, and this was after things went down.

  • you think he would have bet them to win and thus done everything in his power to win the game in order to win the bet? It's not like he could pull a pitcher who has a shut out and put in a reliever who is not that good and make it so obvious he is trying to lose? His job depended on the Reds winning so there is another reason I why he should be pardoned. Maybe Obama or the Governor of Ohio can pardon him and the senators can attach something to a bill regarding Pete Rose, the Hall of Fame,

  • With those points and I bet many many more, you should write a paper sighting the pros and cons and your sources and send it to Selig. (for what good it will do I don't know) But you seem to have a pretty valid argument. If Selig won't do something maybe a news outlet will or the government of Ohio/Cincinnati/Senators/Congressmen. I'm with you. A final, but logical point. Even if he did bet on baseball and had he done the incredibly idiotic thing and bet on a game involving his team don't

  • after the 1977 season which George Foster won the NL MVP there was a luncheon where jokes were made about Rose betting on football games. People had to be morons to think he didn't bet on baseball also probably throughout his career.

  • @TheTruthMustPrevail big deal

  • This video is Beautiful! and funny as hell. Being a Reds fan for years, I LOVE Pete Rose and think he def deserves to be in the hall of fame!

  • @jendub225 to hell with the hall of fame .its just some museum

  • Pete should have come clean about his gambling back in 1989, when this all went down. Instead, he lied about it- Pete would later admit it in that book he wrote a few years ago- and was belligerent to people who pressed the issue. Had he admitted guilt over 20 years ago, Pete would be in the HOF. but he isn't. And he shouldn't be. Ever.

  • Peter Rose knew the consequences of getting cought betting on baseball games. He didn't care. He is a cheat and will never be in the Hall of Fame

  • Technically weren't Pete Rose's sins against the league more than they were to the game of baseball? And isn't it the BASEBALL Hall of Fame, not the MLB Hall of Fame?

  • Great video! I agree with PandemicStrike... If the rest aren't kicked out... Rose shouldn't be either.

  • This is a awesome video because its all true. An BTW if Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire and all the others that have admitted to using steroids or, are still using steroids, are candidates for the hall of fame have a chance so should Pete Rose.

  • In my younger days, always thought of Rose as nothing but a "hot dog player", but I never cut him short on his abilities. He's one of the GREATEST baseball players we've ever had. Shouldn't be any question that he should go into the Hall of Fame. There are many other players in baseball who have "tarnished" their careers for things as bad or worse than Pete! My gosh, put the man in the Hall of

Fame where he belongs. I don't see why he can't be forgiven as well as the other "bad boys".

  • i was lmfao at 8:02

  • The Hall of Fame without Charley Hustle is not worthy of the name.

  • i cant believe cobb did all that stuff

  • Here is the problem with your little story. Pete Rose LIED for 15 years about it. Also there is an absolute NO Gambling rule that is posted in the locker rooms. He bet on is team and he never admitted to it until he felt he had to. Then makes money off his admissions. The let keep in mind he also attacked and assaulted a umpire during a game. Rose's numbers deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. He does not!

  • You need to read the book Hustle: The Myth, Life, and Lies of Pete Rose. After that see if you want him in the Hall of Fame. He is scum

  • pete rose and ichiro...which is excellent?

  • Charlie Hustle should be in the hall. We all know that. The thing about Cobb whipping his son because he flunked out of college just made me like him MORE! One thing about Rose, he always bet on the Reds to win. He ain't the sharpest tool but you can't question his will to win. Also I don't need 5 minutes of how whitey ford scuffed his balls

  • Rose bet on baseball for years . Read the book "Hustle: The Myth, Life and Lies of Pete Rose". . It's 100 percent facts . Rose fans won't like it but it's all true.

  • Toooo sloooowwwww..

  • Beautiful!

  • jhuffman21...you are SPOT ON!...excellent posts!

  • welldone kid

  • @jhuffman21 You are comparing apples to oranges and you probably should go back and look at the stats of OTHER players during Ty Cobb's tenure. You're comparing his stats to Pete Rose's stats which are incomparable. It was nothing for an averae hitter back then to hit .300 whereas today not too many hitters are above that mark. This is why Cobb's overall average as long as Ruth's and others are much higher and more impressive compared to today. Do your homework.

  • @jhuffman21 Yeh, his betting may be speculation, but it is a proven fact he beat down a defenseless fan in the stands which today is called attempted murder and is very much a violent act that is more worthy of a ban from baseball than placing some bets. So much for your allegation theory.

  • It is funny to read some of these, but there was no mention of Gaylord Perry who I believe is now in the HOF. He admitted many times to doctoring baseballs. That is by far CHEATING. To add to this list, why isn't Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Clemens banned from baseball? ALL have done steroids and all have obliterated records and stolen accomplishments via their own cheating. Seeing McGwire get to coach in St. Louis made me sick. But betting is far worse?

  • This looks like you've put your 10th grade English essay into slide show format and put in on youtube. Pete rose was an amazing player even if he did gamble on baseball. End of story

  • You can draw your own conclusion on whether Rose was guilty of betting on baseball or not. For me, Pete Rose and the Big Red Machine made me love the game. There are so many baseball records held by Pete Rose that may never be duplicated. In his own way, he set the stage of what a Hall of Fame player should be made of - a lot of hustle, a good bit of luck, some natural born talent, a passion for winning, a great love for the game and a hero to all of us.

  • wrong, they were not "allegations". Pete ADMITTED he gambled on baseball. GET IT or GET OUT

  • @huntersingle I normally don't delve into the often inherently prideful practice of replying to posts any longer, however, in light of your unfortunate comment I am compelled to make a rare exception. They WERE allegations at the time of Rose's ban and REMAINED SO until Rose's admission in March of 2007. He was banned based, technically, upon allegations. When someone plays with words, as you've done, it is often indicative of the absence of logically substantive content. Thanks for viewing.

  • @JPizzleStick Allegations or not, Rose first agreed to a ban (subject to his applying for reinstatement), then admitted betting, then admitted betting on his own team. The last is the single most serious offense in any sport (even if you bet for your team). He also flatly lied about all this for years. Before his confession, I thought he deserved admission to the Hall (but not back into baseball). But based on the lies and the confession, he NEVER will. Find another windmill to tilt at.

  • @JPizzleStick I Live in Cincinnati. I think he should be in the Hall. But come on. It was based on a little more than "Allegations". The "allegations" led to a little thing called.....The Dowd Report. A 225 page report supported by 8 volumes of exhibits that all pointed to one thing. He bet on baseball. Pete's ONLY shot at being reinstated was to come clean and be contrite. The ego on this guy is incredible though, so he chose to lie for twenty years. He is now screwed. He will never get in.

  • Didn't he accept the banishment in return for not having to admit guilt? He then did just that in 2008. As far as I'm concerned, he should remain banned from the sport.

  • @JPizzleStick Pete Rose signed an agreement to be put on the permanent ineligible list in exchange for Giamatti not bringing the allegations to a court hearing. Pete Rose agreed to be banned just so these allegations wouldn't be heard in court. Even though they were only allegations, there is still a reason the Rose agreed to be banned.

  • @huntersingle You are wrong. At the time he was banned, he didn't admit it. He also was pretty much told to accept the ban and when the storm blows over, he can appeal it. He was lead to believe that would happen. I don't think had he known they would carry it out this long, he would not have agreed to the ban. That's how people in power take advantage of unsuspecting people. In the long run, it is the FANS who are being punished more than anyone & a higher pct of fans want him in the HOF

  • @huntersingle It's discouraging to see those who claim to be baseball enthousiasts take this stance. Cobb, Tris Speaker, and Smokey Joe Wood were involved in a covered up scandal where they bet on their own teams when they played each other in 1926. Landis liked Cobb and kept it from the media. John McGraw owned a casino in Havana. How many of these examples are in the HOF? These precedents all seem to be forgotten. Maybe some of you who claim to be fans should educate yourselves

  • @huntersingle We all know that if Pete had a different skin tone he would have been back in the game years ago.

  • sadly, baseball is hypocritical. They take millions from the Casinos to pay their executives the extravagant salaries and the players extravagant salaries but they kick players/managers out if they bet on baseball games. If they prove that ROSE bet on the Reds to lose a game, then it would be justified but it seems Rose bet on the reds to win and that just showed he wasn't too smart.

  • Well, the pitchers back in Cobb's day were equivalent to some drunken after work softball players at best. So yea, he probably did have a better average and a lot of hits. Pitchers pitched 12 innings one day and maybe 9 the next. There were no middle relief, no 100mph closers. So, what would Pete have hit with the likes of those types of conditions? Furthermore, do you know the types of methamphetamine that was available back in Cobb's and Ruth's day? No wonder they were insane.

  • Regardless of anything, Pete Rose is a classic example of fallen human nature. The best analogy is that of Moses - an historic servant of God who was denied entry to the Promised Land because of his sin. His accomplishments didn't excuse his accountability. Likewise, Adam was cast from the Garden of Eden when he sinned and blamed God rather than repent and seek mercy. Rose did clearly break the rule, but like Adam, he was defiant and challenged authority, and that's what really did him in.

  • Great video. I can understand baseball's desire to severely punish Rose because the single thing that can destroy baseball is players betting on it, ruining its credibility. With that said, I think the punishment should be commensurate with the crime --- the simple rule of criminal justice. He seems to have bet on a few games and whatever damage baseball suffered was minor. He has done his time. Let's stop persecuting this man, who loves the game so much and did so much for it.

  • i think every one can accept cheating to win like in the case of whitey ford, like the old saying goes, "If your not cheating your not trying."

Anyways that was a great video very well put together bravo

  • Did you know Umpire Richie Garcia was censured for gambling back in 1989, but baseball didn't really investigate him to the enth degree. Finally, MLB dismissed Garcia early this year for blatently making bad calls. It just makes one wonder who baseball decides to investigate?

  • SO TRUE AND LETS NOT FORGET THE STEROIDS TAKERS THAT ARE COACHES AND PLAYERS NOW..... I HATED PETE ROSE AS A PLAYER (METS FAN HERE) BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH LET HIM BACK INTO BASEBALL AND ESPECIALLY THE HALL OF FAME!

  • smart video, nice job

  • Everyone knows and agrees that numbers alone would put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. Thie issue and the debate comes from whether he should be allowed in for breaking one of the most important rules in all of sports. It is well known that ALL club houses have signs and posters that tell the players not to gamble on games, and what the punishment WILL be if they are caught. However Pete Rose voluntarily took the risk and now he should pay the price. OhI forgot he was a nice guy, sorry.

  • pete deserves to be in the hall of fame if you disagree then your a close minded fool who is incapable of acknowledging true talent and some day i hiope people will disregard you for your past deeds.

  • Pete Rose was a racist

  • The MLB Hall of Fame is a complete joke until Pete Rose gets in. I have no use for nor interest in the HOF until the day Pete Rose is inducted. He was the best player I ever saw in my lifetime.

  • ...there all crooked men, ...so le tPete into the Hall of Fame. Amen.

  • Instead of Pete, let's just put the Cubs on Bud Selig's inelligible list!!!!

  • If Pete Rose stays out and Sammy Sosa gets into the Hall, we should all be throwing our syringes and corks at Bud Selig.

  • I talked to one of the DiMaggio's once and he said Ty Cobb wasn't particularly racist for his time and actually thought baseball should be integrated before many people did, but Cobb was just sociopathic.

  • pete rose cant get in but im sure barry bonds will. whats up with that.

  • Great video

  • tossing aisde the gambling topic, the baseball hall of fame is home to Cap Anson and Kenneshaw Moutain Landis. These two men were the contribitors to the segergation of major league baseball. Anson with his white players revolt of 1894 and Landis for his steadfast refusal to intergrate baseball during his tenure as commissiner. It's not wonder that Larry Doby and Jackie Robsinson didn't sign contracts till after Landis' 45 death. Racism good, betting bad as far as the hall is concerned.

  • Pete Rose is a putz period!! He is purely a disgrace to baseball.....he does nothing now but sit in a sports memorabilia store at Caesar's Palace signing autographs if you buy something like a ball or a bat.....nice life Pete. Sorry, I won't buy anything from him.....but I will chuckle when I see him sitting, idol, and not signing anything cause no one is buying anything for him to sign!!

  • @Sheldon66 Atheletes didn't make the kind of money they do today. In fact, back in the 60's a lot of pro football players had to have off season jobs. It's not Pete's fault he played at a time when atheletes couldn't retire off their salary.

  • Maybe you have not noticed, but times have changed. The world is suppose to be more civilized now. And as such, we must answer for our racial, murderous, and idiotic behavior.

  • An excellent video, thank you so much for making it. I knew Hornsby was supposedly a racist, but a KKK member? And I recall Mays and Mantle were banned for being greeters at Las Vegas. It's funny how the MLB very quietly never mentions this.

  • Ha-ha, just as I remember him from 1976!!

  • He was never a Yankee. Case closed.

  • We used to go the racetrack in Cincy (river downs) and see Pete there with a briefcase, which seemed odd. Learned from later newspaper reports that it was filled with cash, which he gambled away. Definitely addicted to gambling, but should not have been banned. Giamatti's death two weeks later felt like instant karma. Thanks for this excellent report, which is only the short list of HOF bad boys.

  • Killed a man for attacking him.

What was he supposed to do, sign an autograph for him you liberal pansy.

  • So why not petition the hall to remove undesirables rather than only worrying about whether Pete gets in?

  • great video

  • 14,053 at bats...4,256 hits....he made the most outs in Major League history then?

  • @BishopToKing7 bases on balls, fielders choices,...

  • Kane!!!!

  • pete is dumb? he's 68 and has a 29 yr old playmate girlfriend. he also makes a million plus a yr, 21 yrs after being removed from baseball.

  • @jhuffman21 I'm not going to bash Cobb, but if the gloves they used, the terrible ball fields and lack of competition(blacks), don't make a difference, than why are all the 400 hitters from that era? Not playing against every race is a huge difference.

  • @jhuffman21 cobb did not play against blacks, and they used gloves that were pretty much useless, adding at least 50 points to cobb's average. No knock against cobb, he was great, but to compare stats is useless. World series championships, rose 3 cobb o.

  • @jhuffman21 Speculation is, to your detriment, a two-headed beast. Cobb WAS CHARGED IN CRIMINAL COURT with game fixing and gambling accusations. Pete Rose was banned from baseball in 1989, but never actually admitted to the accusations until 2004. Cobb never admitted to anything. Therefore, ACCORDING TO YOUR LOGIC, Cobb was inducted, despite speculation, and Rose was banned, despite speculation. Cobb "allegedly" fixed games and bet on them, and Rose just bet on them. Thanks for playing.

  • @jhuffman21 I totally agree...all things being equal, it is immediately logical to say that Cobb was the best that has ever played. Love it or hate it, the facts don't lie. Cobb was the best. The fact remains, however, that both Cobb and Rose are indelibly guilty of wagering offenses, and thus we cannot logically have one in and the other out. Justice will be served when they're either both in the Hall or both out, but logic clearly dictates that we can't have it both ways. Thanks for viewing.

  • Ty cob was a punk ! I bet he picked his battles where he was always was a favorite.

Well the handycap thing says it all !

I will never eat corn again !

  • Professional athletes are our modern day gladiators and yet we expect these guys to turn the rage off when they leave the field. We are stupid people. We pay these guys to go as hard as they can, and cheer them for it, but curse them when they get out of control off the field. It is amazing to me. Put Rose in the Hall.

  • rose did nothing compare to the fuckin steroid monkeys..

for fuck sake stop the Insanity

  • lol, TY COBB. The man, the myth, the legend. He even looks like an asshole. Greatest baseball player of all time imo though, so I'm glad he is in the hall. Rose should be let in too. I don't think it will ever happen unfortunately.

  • WHAT YOU have here is a prime example of a red herring fallacy. Instead of arguing the point, you divert attention to other unrelated topic. the case for pete rose can be made without reverting to that

  • Rose is bigger than the hall of fame. Them keeping him out has made him even bigger. ALL TIME HITS LEADER. HMMMMM

  • Pete Rose shoukd get into the Hall of Fame. I never knew that Rogers Hornsby was in the KKK.

  • You are quite simply wrong: Rose is highly intelligent, just at different things than what aeronautical engineers (as you put it) are intelligent at. To be a great baseball player (like a great quarterback, point guard, etc.), you need to possess exceptional intelligence, and Rose was no exception to this rule. On your other point, though, that Rose should be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame: this is the no-brainer of the century. Shame on them for keeping him out.

  • great points here. we can all hope with time, MLB will come to there senses and reinstate this man that WAS the living, breathing example that makes baseball the greatest game on Earth.

  • Yep an absolute tragedy. We can only hope one day before Pete is gone they will change their mind.

  • Nice.
