  • (happy sigh) more great steam engineering

  • Love the whistle.

  • its like old train rolling on wheels :D

  • thats very quite.

  • Boy things really did move at a slower pace back in the good ole days. I wonder how many of tractors that no longer exist because of the metal scrapping during the wars!?!

  • Hi, first time for me to see this tractor, I have a couple of questions. First, I am old 60+ ..second I grew up on a farm, third I worked with old boilers at sawmills for years, now my questions, what pressure do you run the boiler, what chemicals do you use to keep the tubes from scaling (yes this is a fire tube boiler) and how often do you have to flush it between shows/firing up to keep the scale out and keep the tubes from rusting? Thanks for the memories, I know you take care of her. Mike

  • it just a old steam locomotive boiler that they just salvaged and put it on wheels

  • Does Longmont have an annual Tractor show???

  • that thing hauls ass

  • Very nice traction engine, First time I have saw one in that Fashion, Looks wonderful and sounds good too!

  • still better than Prius

  • She's a beauty!

  • slicks! cool

  • a machine as ugly as this one only tells me about the american greed to harvest a crop in short time and elemnate the need for humans,

  • Looks somewhat American.

  • It may be only 22hp.....but I bet it's got gobs of torque.

  • Thank you for sharing the history with everyone.

  • people ask... how much horsepower does your tractor haave?.... an old 40 horse tractor would proboally tow a brand new 2011 55-60 horse tractor because of the weight of it...

  • @johndeere471 Not just because of the extra traction the weight gives it,but due to the fact that this small horsepower engine has a couple of thousand foot pounds of torque.

  • WANNA BE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE

  • Where is a smoke ???????

  • Now THAT is one big traction engine. That boiler could be used on a locomotive if someone wanted to do that.

  • @LNERMallard It is a locomotive... Just with a different purpose

  • Wow this thing's a monster!! I love the "inverted" design with the pistons and flywheel underneath the boiler. Looks like it could be converted overnight to a locomotive with just a few adjustments!

  • I thought it was a train

  • freaking nice machine you got there i wish i could drive one

  • even?

  • torque!

  • wow some people cant understand antique farming.. just so you can learn somthing mr turtle kid, these tractors arnt made for speed, what do you exspect it to go 50 mph fuck no.. these were made to go as fast as a man walks so you can see whats going on... god it just pisses me off to see someone make fun of these pieces of art.. heck yes these were out in the field god damn kid, farming wouldnt be the same without these tractors... great job at the video my top five fideo

  • @FARMALLfarmall Well, you don't like people who make fun of old machinery (neither do I to me honest), but I don't like people that has to be rude and swear to make a point. So we're even. :)

  • omg a turtle can beat tht peice of shit

  • they used this out on the field??

  • Roadtrain Crossing

  • Jeśli cena ropy będzie drożeć w takim tępie to jescze do tej techniki wrócimy..

  • and then a herd of cows went by pulling a wagon.... simple as that

  • daj do pieca kurwa;p

  • Those big wheels would be handy to throw dogs under as they rolled- - it would smash the dumb ole doggys flat!...... that would def be cool!!!

  • excelente video, acabo de conocer al tatarabuelo del tractor de mi vecino, por dios menuda manera de bramar que se echa, un bramido asi a las 2 de la madrugada despierta hasta un muerto

  • wowwww great!!!

  • 19 century Mopar!! ;-))

  • Comment removed

  • he's coming around the turn! the cub cadet overtakes the steam engine!

  • This is pretty cool- LOVE those old antiques : D

  • nice one Always did think these tractors resembled a railroad steam loco

  • Slow ride, take it easy - Slow ride, take it easy \:D/

  • This is a very nice tractor.

  • Great video. Avery's are my favorite engines. Post more great Avery videos please.

  • at this rate you'll have the field plowed in 30 years

  • @uuuultra Not moving fast, but considering it would be pulling a 12 bottom plow! A smaller tractor pulling a 3 bottom plow would have to go 4 times faster than this to match plowing speed.

  • What's the top speed?

  • At first, I thought it had heavy metal playing in the backround! Lovely piece of history

  • What a monster! That's what a Tonka Toy woulda looked like in 1907 if they had been invented yet,

  • That is a train on wheels.

  • thats basically a locomotive but with larger wheels

  • @1990fordf150custom - NO Track is needed for this style steamer

  • @SkipW Aren't these tractors dangerous?

  • @SkipW What were they buring in it? It's running very clean!

  • @1990fordf150custom this is not at all like a locomotive this is very early farming my great grandfather had one just like this but black and green he told my grandma that he did not no what was happening now being able to pull a 16 row plow!!!

  • looks like a train.

  • I tip my hat to all those who maintain these beautiful machines.

  • My GOD!!! Hard to belive how far we have come in technology, that contraption there my friends is what started all the farm equipment we have today!!.

  • Nice vid of an unusual engine- that 22hp could be multiplied by 5 or 6 to get the actual hp.

  • Time passes so quickly. The man is proud of his inventions. Very good video with sound. Thank you for sharing Mario

  • Was this tractor born with a locomotive-styled cab?

  • lets go nordschleife!^^

  • what is the topspeed, 2-3 ft/s?

  • @animatorSimen these didn't have speed at all but had a shit load of pulling power

  • looks like a train

  • at least we know you wont be breaking the speed limit any time soon

  • They could use that thing for a steam roller to flatten roads---ha!

  • Does anyone know the length, width, and height of this tractor? Because it would be great to have a die-cast 1/16 scale model.

  • BEAST!!! :)

  • the little tractor ride went past it

  • this thing is from fairy tale :))

  • one of the best steam whisles ive ever herd

  • ridin' on skinnys

  • was that top speed?

  • dude walking would be faster than taking this thing i could run faster than this thing

  • @GeneralL33TSauce but u couldn't outpull it these were built for power not speed

  • it is like a lamborghini, just bigger

  • badass!

  • my grandpa told me these were so slow bulky and expensive..it was eaasier and less money to just use horses.... until the gas tractors came along athen they switched

  • @arlichar11 sometimes they used to use big winches to pull plow backward and forward across fields. they could move plow that a 20 horse team wouldn't move. They could plow a field using a plow 40 feet wide. Hell of a job though imagine just turning the old girl around on a plowed field.Warm job inwinter though.

  • How heavey is this thing? Awsome lap but that lawn tractor over took you in the third turn!

  • exalent, thank you.

  • Whats the efficiency rating on that old girl??

  • 1/4 mile in 4.9 years

  • haha if that boiler was on a fram of a mogul or like consolidation it would look so cool. does it have an injector?

  • Look out!!! You're gonna get run over by that thing in a half hour or so!!! Very cool people!

  • Great engineering!For people who save it-respect!

  • wow

  • The engine has plain wheels like a road roller so it was probably not build for heavy pulling

  • @MrDorfmann maybe they took the cleats off the wheels. After all it is now a show piece only eh?

  • amazing! That tractor is more like a train!

  • What was the lap time?

  • that. is a juggernaut lol

  • That's an odd design, with the engine under the boiler, instead of on top, as is the case with most traction engines. Also the cab, bell and whistle give it the appearance of a railway locomotive.

  • @SteamboatWilley maby it was one at one point

  • do a dyno run lol

  • Id love to build a scaled down version of this!

  • i have a 1904 port huron

  • That is a nice toy but may be it cost a ton of money to keep it up? i would`nt mind have of of those and driving it around an a sunny day while drinking wine ,

  • hi my name is steven montgomery my family owns this steam engine i am the one driving in thi clip in the blue with the hat on i will be more than happy to answer any questions you mite have thank you!

  • how long does it taek for the steam pressure to build up before you can take off

  • so clean and quiet!

  • He's like the John Browning of Tractors.

Only i guess at eight he built a steam engine instead of a rifle lol.

  • how did the head lights work ?

  • either carbide or kerosene lanterns

  • @SuperSlipman1 steam generator

  • nice...who needs r.r tracks,,,

  • It blows my mind how huge these things can be.

  • hi you have a very nice engine and a great story from an old engine driver you should remove the govener belt when driving the engine on the road on a down hill the engine can come up to speed then cut of the steam then yo got no brakes kind regards

  • Very nice, a real piece of American history.

    Thanks for posting.

    Bill

  • this that top speed

  • That's a great piece of American history you have there.

  • nice video

    5 stars

  • haha tthis is my steam traction engine it is an 1907 avery steam engine it weights about 18 tons it is 22 horse power and it is alot of fun to learn how to drive them and operate them!!!!!!

  • Very good video with good sound and good information.

    5*****

  • well i dunno about the rest of ya, but that's one awsome steam traction engine. my compliments to the current owner of what an outstanding engine he has.

  • Wow! Looks similar to the one in Elrose SK that was scrapped in 1940, for steel for the war effort. Best regards Lee Mason Leebm29

  • lol retired conductors must have like to own one of those lol

  • Yes, Skip, very good catch and this sound is still awesome, I love it!

    Send me more :D

  • 22 horse power is not much :P But it is 102 years old lol I always though steam engines had a lot of power

  • haha 3:40
