Per pietà, people, open your ears and listen, this singer is not just good she is great! Her voice is absolutely beautiful and her Fiordiligi has a soul and heart, the words are pronounced clearly and with emotion... And yes, it's a live performance, not a recording, don't expect total and dead perfection!
Nobody here neglects her voice, wich most of the time is quite beautiful, but she has taken some extrange risks with her voice and in my humble oppinion, she needs to relax, she's already a good singer.
And about perfection in a live recording it is possible, for example listen to Invernizzi, Hallenberg, Prina and McNair in their live recordings, they are just in perfection.
This was a good effort on her part, but she is NO Fiordiligi. I listened to the "Prendero" from this production, and though they paired well together, but her voice is just was to lightweight for Fiordiligi! She scoops and slides everywhere, and totally misses the technicality of the last 40 seconds, the trills are inaudible and she misses a note and has to find it again, (idk if its ornamentation or not, but it sounds wrong)
I agree, I like Cangemi she´s a very competent singer but sometimes her ambition is bigger than her actual vocal ressources , here she´s clearly aming too high
I prefer Roschmann or Bartoli or Vaness, Gens is good but is too light-weight for the role- and Persson is great too, but theres a certain something missing I can't put my finger on...
Ops, I forgot Roschmann...it's a great Fiordiligi; also Vaness, but I don't like Bartoli's Fiordiligi...well, I maybe delete this file (I don't know...)
Don't delete it! God knows theres someone out there that finds this the best version they've ever seen... and it does have the wonderful orchestra behind it!
Yeah, that someone out there would be me!!! That IS the best version I've ever seen (I actually saw the show on an other day, listened in to the radio for that broadcast, and I thought she was better on tuesday).
And that orchestra and that conductor are really really amazing.
Cangemi is a difficult case, have you heard her last cd? a weird selection of arias, and sometimes she reveals some little vocal failures (her "Son qual nave ch'agitata" is very disappointing, besides is a very difficult aria, I think that far far of what she can sing) and then she sing something that's from first course of singing (Nel cor piu non mi sento).
I'm really worried because of her, she can be a good singer (not excellent) but she's trying to kill her voice.
Oh yes! her last cd is VERY weird (to put it midly) Veronique is a good singer but her ambition/eagerness to sing beyond her voice is seriously harming her credibility as performer. the old saying "where there´s a will there is a way" does not work when it comes to opera LoL
don't be so mean! this is quite good if you consider that she's actually a mexican transexual.

I also agree...it's a great Cosi, but Cangemi isn't a great Fiordiligi...I prefer Persson or Gens :)
