i favorited this one because there's not a bunch of idiots yelling and whistling and screaming out the lyrics trying to sing along. people, he won't be around forever, so when you see him live please raise hell on the hell raising songs and be silent and solemn on the sad ones for pete sake.
@GRobb62 unfortuneatly theres two idiots now. . . somebody else disliked it. . don't worry i'm like 88. . he played this live last year in New Albany, my parents took me to see him live. . .his singer was better live trust me
this is freaking me out, my name is Sam Stone (you might of noticed my profile name) and I was born in 1999. I just searched my name and it came to this. oh, and good song.
@TheSamStoneZone Well Sam Stone this is one of the greatest songs ever written by one of the greatest writters ever. This song was a anthem of my generation. Your parents named you well :)
@misred1 well... my parents named me after Samuel Clemens otherwise know as Mark Twain. but I think there might be some john prine in the there somewhere.
@TheSamStoneZone Either way Sam both were great writers. I think you are 12 years old. I bet your grandparents know all about John Prine and Sam Stone. Ask them what the late 60's early 70's were like,Get them to show you some pics. Might be fun lol
@TheSamStoneZone I felt old reading that comment. People that were born in 1999 are listening to John Prine and navigating Youtube? Jesus.... Is it already 2011?
@TheSamStoneZone I just got a call from a Ford dealership for Sam Stone. I laughed and had to take time to find my pal John's song. Oh and Sam-- the Ford dealership wants to know if you're still interested in that F150. :o)
John, I got it way back when you and Steve were playing together. You are america, you are us and you are John Prine. the greatest song writer in our time... Love ya John..... Dennis
Thank you for this video! I'd be forever thankful if someone could find "Big Ol' Goofy World" from this same benefit. By the way folks, you should go grab this CD. You get great music and you get to help a great cause.
Jerry Hall and Lyle Johnson brought this LP back to the house from their gig at Warner Bros.Record Warehouse in Phoenix back in 1974. Jerry &I were Nam vets, though I was on the last year of a 4 year hitch...Hope you both read this if youre still kickin. JP's been a part of my daily life since...just purple hearts and monkeys on our back...huh, Jerry.
one of my favorite songs of all time...

Thank you Laurie, I knew Prine also from your videos.
I love his excellent compositions, some sad or happy or funny. And his voice so soothing.
