This is the best deus ex mod ever. But it's sad - there's something wrong with my TNM - King Kashue has told me something I should do, but...
There's nothing about it in my goals!!
There's still a goal about I should go to Kashue and Evil Invasion and "hear what they have to say about the spyware device". Can anyone help me out?? Good god I hate bugs!
Trestkon, with that logic couldn't one make a mod that bashes a nationality and then say "It's just a joke don't worry"? I do not think you guys intentionally "bashed newbies", but am still a bit bothered. To be fair, these four are in the beginning:
Training :"Board guests are immature and rightfully harassed" (paraphrased)
*Players banned* "No flame wars on my shift."
"Faster we take this newbie down..."
"Need you to rescue the mod so we can agree on bans."
Jonas I disagree that it doesn't glorify the dev team, having some as gods and some as bums is immaterial - the analogy of "running" Forum City and running PDX forums isn't really even a metaphor, it's an intended conversion.
But what you said about the option to join the 'bad' (I'm assuming) side - the choice existing is neat. Respect for that.
By the way, I'm not trying to be rude. My stomach just churns at poking fun at newbies or even the word "newb", etc.
In my opinion we poke just as much if not MORE fun at the people harassing the newbies. There are also opportunities to help the newbs; the initial mission with Master_Kale and his N00Bz is an example that can go in many different directions according to your choices.
Our intention was to make fun of *everybody*, not just a particular group or category of people. I'm flattered that you even take it seriously enough to think about these things, just don't lose track of the big picture :-)
You CAN in fact make a mod (or a film, or a book) that bashes a nationality and then say "it's just a joke, don't worry". In fact it's been done quite a lot, and if the nationality (or whatever satirised group) then allow themselves to be offended by the satire, it generally reflects most poorly on them - not on the satire. I think the reason you react like this is that newbs are a minority, and making fun of minorities is dangerous business, but that's why we make fun of everybody :P
A difference of tastes. I find referring to "newbies," "N00bZ," or "BoardGuests" collectively, offensive on its own. Implying "BoardGuests" as a whole are inferior and "below" the experienced veteran citizens adds insult to injury. To me, It is different than cracking jokes.
The irony is (and I'm VERY guilty of this from when I was young if you check my old DXE posts), the most stupid, inane garbage is posted by "popular" forum members, and on the other hand, guests usually ask good questions!

I don't have anything against you, Trestkon, but didn't it bother anyone that this mod glorifies the dev team (some even as "Gods") and isolates/discriminates everyone else? There is "banning of newbies", "harassment of board guests", Hell, the main plot of the game is saving an admin so BANNING can continue.
Also it doesn't glorify the dev team, some of the key developers have some of the least sympathetic roles in the game, for example That Guy or NVShacker (our main programmers) or myself. And if you don't want to save the moderators, join WorldCorp and kill him and all the other moderators instead : )

Yush, sounds like he does quite a few of the voices in this. Not that they all sound the same, mind you - I've just heard his voice so may times over the years it's easy to pick him out. ;) Very talented guy. I can't wait til your mod is finished, I am seriously considering getting my hands on DX just so I can play your mod. :}
It's quite worth it ;-) For $10 or less you get to play DX, and then then run around TNM for hours listening to the insane amounts of excellent voice acting. We're somewhere over 5 hours ingame right now, and once it's all in there it should be around 8.
Is it possible to knock him unconscious? I'm going for a non-lethal playthrough. Does it just take forever is it it impossible?
