Hi, is it necessary to connect the fast track pro to an external power supply, when we use a phantom power pick up for violin? are you sure that it will not work with the usb connected to my laptop?
@hellosarith Mostly these audio interfaces don't have to be connected to power supply for phantom power. I can't tell though, I don't own this device. Try to google it - as far as I know it should work on USB - on a powered one that is. USB with low power output may be good enough for mouse but not for the audio device with phantom power on. Generally - it suppose to work like this, I'd check it with the laptop in some shop if possible. :-)
Great video. I have M-audio fasttrack ultra, yamaha arranger keyboard (tyros) ,an electric guitar and RODE NT1a condenser mic. my mixer is Behringer ub1622fx. HOW DO I CONNECT ALL OF THIS? More important question is how do I record my vocals in stereo? I tried record mic in channel 1, playback the software (Sonar7) it only played mono... How do I get stereo? THanks.
@Unplugged704 In Reaper I have to setup stereo track with two inputs - this is pointless unless you have stereo microphone or record with two of them (not sure why). But you can always either pan the mono voice to any side or add some stereo effect.
@Unplugged704 I never said anything about two stereo inputs. 1 stereo is like 2 mono obviously. So you can record stereo track using two inputs (mono, of course)... but you can as well record two separate mono tracks, difference is rather minimal, and you can always combine them later. But do you actually have stereo microphone?
@QualityManful Thanks :-) No I don't teach - at least not for living, only occasionally. I definitely should not teach guitar though. :-) I'm from Slovakia.
@JohnTeoCH I have no experience by myself. I use only Reaper and I'm not lucky owner of FastTrack. It will work - or at least it should. It is normal ASIO capable audio device after all.
@JohnTeoCH It's compatible with cubase 5 and FL studio 9. Not sure about Adobe audition 3.0. By the way, I guess fast track pro is USB 1.1. Fast track ultra is better which is USB 2.0. I hope u know the difference bitween 1.1 & 2.0.

Thank you for all of the information. You should teach guitar to newbies!
You are very good at teaching , is that what you do for a living? What country are you from?
Forgive me, the Handle that was given to me by youtube is stupid!
I asked for Quality Man.
