  • DAT HYDROCITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

  • the coding and converting process must have taken a while

  • YOU SIR ARE AWESOME!!!!

  • I would have enjoyed a longer Lava Reef though :(

  • Wow, this is pretty neat! I'm enjoying this, this is pretty nice, an-

    2:51 - Flying Battery starts

    HOLY FUCK ALL MY DICKS ARE CUMMING

  • @hmp22 ...Dicks?

  • Or sonic colors......>_> 'Cuz that was a cool soundtrack too......

  • ^_^ Dude! I just downloaded this, and I am ROCKIN' OUT to this as we speak. Thnks a lot. Is it...at all possible to do this for Sonic Advance 3, or Unleashed?

  • I am really shocked someone was able to get NES spec sound so close to some of the best YM2612 music

    What is the CPU load like on an NES? Could this run alongside a game?

  • this is simply AMAZING. thanks for sharing :D

  • 1-UP Mushroom Hill Zone.

  • 9:16? NO WAY!

  • Wow. I don't know how but you managed to make Flying Battery sound a whole more badass than it was already... Along with other tracks.

  • How long did it take you to compile the whole album?

  • @OmegaUltima

    Says in the description that it was over 200 hours! o_o

  • excellent work!

  • Idk why ppl are giving you a hard time because any nes with the correct expansion chip could play any famitracker music possible.

  • BTW I need your DPCM samples so bad!!!

  • Holy crap you are amazing. SUBSCRIBE MODE ACTIVATED.

  • commodore 64 esque ftw

  • How d'ja get those drum samples?

  • @Alej9fl Ripped right from the game.Look up for "The Ultimate Megadrive/Genesis Soundfont".On that soundfont you have most of the samples.

  • @xan1242 I knew about the soundfont, but what I don't know is how to turn it into a DMC file.

  • @Alej9fl You don't have to turn it into DMC file.

  • This is bloody amazing! You, sir, captured my childhood in a nutshell and made it awesome. I salute your work. Keep on being awesome!

  • MY SOCKS AND JAW HAVE HIT THE FLOOR

    CHRIST ALMIGHTY AAHSGDASDASDGKJADSAFCA

    Downloadin'!

  • Where's the MP3 file? All I'm getting is RAR.

  • @bubblesishot46853 You've had two months to google what a RAR file is and yet you haven't done anything. I'm impressed.

  • @8BitDanooct1

    I have found a file changer, but I never figured how that works. It wouldn't let me change to an mp3.

  • @8BitDanooct1

    nevermind, I got it. Nice job!

  • @8BitDanooct1 You need a 7-zip file program opener. It takes RAR files an turns them into file folders thus you can acess them..

  • @SonicxE

    Or WinRAR. =D

  • This is truly beautiful. Good work!

  • Hydrocity Zone act 2 = Megaman in Sonic world.

  • The only complaint I could make is that it doesn't follow the NES' sound limitations. Not that it matters though, it sounds great.

  • @IceGod64 It's possible with Konami's VRC6 sound chip that was in for example the Japanese version of Castlevania 3

  • SEGA Does what Nintendon't!

    OH C'MON, THAT IS SO 1991!!

  • You...Are...God...I...So....fail...

  • That was fantastic. Some of the sounds I heard there sound like the original instruments? How did you do that :3 ?

  • words cannot express how much i love you right now... :'D

  • At 4:07 I just get this undeniable urge to righteously do the Carlton dance.

  • I think I love you too. *likes, faves, and subscribes.*

  • Amazing stuff! Had to download it, Sticks much to the original, Lovin' It!

  • @8BitDanooct1

    Could you upload Ice Cap Zone in Famitracker by itself, please?

  • ffviboss.mp3 updated

  • Well, this really is a magnificent little medley! One of the greatest soundtracks in video game history, adeptly rendered in a delightful 8-bit style!

    Congratulations sir, you've done the game(s) proud!

  • Man! I always loved the S&K theme! Sounds great in 8-bit!

  • ...why is it a rar file? I can't read rar

  • File Removed for Violation.

    Why why why why why why

  • @GhostSonic Sorry about that, I'm not sure what happened. The files have been reuploaded and are now available for download once again.

  • Downloaded like the fist of the motherfucking north star.

  • Hosted MP3s link is dead. >_<

  • @travelsonic Yes. Somehow the files got deleted. :s

  • I must flag for sexual Content because this gave me an eargasm

  • Pretty sweet, man. I think you're really awesome at arranging these kinds of medleys. It sounds almost exactly like the Genesis version, but the samples are different so you can tell it was done with Famitracker.

    Very good job. :D

  • Awesome, just awesome! You know what this needs now? A Master System style soundtrack, which with your style, might perform better than the Sonic Pocket Adventure soundtrack (which is mostly based on Sonic 3 and Knuckles). Keep up the good work!

  • Broken links.

  • Um that's not really 8-bit. The NES only had 4 channels.

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 That is true, but some Famicom games include external sound chips that add more channels to the 8-bit music. This set uses the VRC6 chip which was used in Castlevania 3 (Japanese version).

  • @AguFungus Oh ok. Didn't Super Mario Bros. 3 use an extra sound chip for the drum samples?

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 No, it used the original instead from the console.

  • This deserves so many more views than it has. Well done.

  • @RonjaNoku Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • @RonjaNoku Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • Michael Jackson....

  • Genesis does what Nintendon't!

    Not anymore!!

  • @geno344 So much for that Blast Processing.

  • @geno344 Well, the Genesis hasn't been on the market for what, 13 years?

  • @travelsonic It was a joke, relax.

  • @geno344 It was just a general comment meant ot be smart ass in nature, you seemed to be the one getting tense - just my perception - replying to me. ;)

  • These are just....Wow.

    I always wanted somebody to make some Sonic 3 music in 8-bit, but I didn't expect the entire soundtrack!

    You earned yourself a subscriber.

  • @sonicfan966 Thanks! Glad you found it to your liking.

  • @8BitDanooct1 this still sounds like 16-bit

  • 200 hours is pretty fast for something....something like this o_o

  • JESUS CHRIST DAN, 19000 views in 3 weeks. How the hell did you pull that off?! Are you getting some publicity or some shit? This has shattered your old record

  • @CPUMaster500 sonic retro

  • Subscribed

  • And what is that music at 4:37?

  • @NanosoftRussia Yes, this was made entirely by myself. The music at 4:37 is the Miniboss theme from Sonic & Knuckles.

  • You made this by yourself???

  • whats OST?

  • MASTER SYSTEM

  • Flying battery = win

  • WOW! It Fantastic!!!!

  • I swear during the Aquatic Ruin Zone act 2 I hear the drums used in Super mario Bros 2 (USA)

  • I believe I just heard the music of the gods.

  • hey you know that button above your vid well im pressing it

  • Sounds like a bunch of capcom tunes, great job!

  • Damn! The NES is capable of quite a lot, isnt it? This is pretty badass!

  • this would be AWESOME as an NES game!

  • *uses hacking skillz to replace every song in the game*

  • "with the right equipment"? You mean, if you were to add an extra cartridge pin to the NES for external sound hardware :P

    Otherwise, awesome.

  • @SuperSmashDolls An NES Powerpak with a quick resistor soldered on to the circuit board works a lot better, in my opinion.

  • @8BitDanooct1 Didn't know the Powerpak could emulate the VRC6 chip... but where does the sound come out of? I guess the cartridge itself...

  • @SuperSmashDolls

    Ugh. Emulation is the last thing you want for great sound... But it is the cheapest method.

  • Awesome work!

  • That simply incredible ! SO close to teh 16bit version.

    Do you plan some other ports ? I'd like to listen to a Bare Knuckle version.

    I still can't believe it was possible to do this. It's a dream, period.

  • 1:40 - FUCKING BARREL HOW DOES IT WORK

    *runs* man, ice cap is awesome but too short D:

  • GOD DAMMIT MAN. GO MAKE MONEY WITH THIS STUFF.

  • I love this.

  • If Master System had made a Sonic 3 N' Knuckles they'd best pick you. :D

  • @KidVideo95 master system sounds like shit.

    vrc6 is beautiful.

  • @Jaklub Well can't argue with that :P

  • Haha, I never would come at this video if Sonic Retro wouldn't link this. Nice job with this, sounds really awesome what you made!

  • You sir, are awesome.

  • 1:55

    MJ ? Was that an easter egg ?

  • Is it wrong to be reminded of Outrun ? (Also by Sega).

  • Real 8 bit :)

  • Holy hell! I had to just stop the video to login & say, GOOD JOB EVERYONE involved in this! These sound pretty much dead on. Konami rocks for making such an awesome chip & you rock for taking advantage of it.

  • @Metalzoner Thanks very much. I appreciate it kindly :D

  • holy shit hydrocity zone

  • Lava Reef Sonic 3 miniboss and Competition Select win this.

  • Now do the PC version songs.

  • Over 10,000 views already!

  • get this on 8bc!

  • Sounds good mang.

  • And by the way, you put in truly spectacular effort into this project, certainly the best collection of 8-bit Sonic mixes out there. Excellent job!

    I guess that the only piece of criticism I could give to this is how the Launch Base Act 1 theme loops, as the beginning of the loop point should be at 0:07 into the song and not at the very beginning. And also, the Marble Garden Act 1 MP3 file seems to be corrupted.

  • @BanjoSonic Oh wow, you are entirely right. The loop is wrong. How embarrassing, nice noticing skills. As for the MP3, it works fine for me and everyone else I've talked to. Maybe try redownloading it, or I could send it to you.

  • @8BitDanooct1 Well 7-Zip thought the MP3 was broken, but I downloaded the MP3 itself off your hosted MP3s page so it doesn't matter now.

  • OH MY F**KINIG GOD THANK YOU :D

    GREATEST YOUTUBE VIDEO EVAR!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome.

  • There..are no words to describe this AWESOME.

  • Awesome ! just...........AWESOME!

  • Absolutely incredible, man. Wonderfully crafted.

  • Wow. This one is soo going onto my Powerpak:) That way i can show it to others too.

    Astunnishing amazing work man.

  • I knew that I was right when I choose Sega over Nintendo.

  • Thanks for this MJ

  • 8-bit Doomsday Zone. Awesome.

  • Holy fuck, this is awesome.

  • I...I love you.

  • This is pretty cool - could you do a version with just five channels like the NES has? I'd be interested to see what kind of impact it has on the sound

  • Awesome! Didn't know NES synth could be this good.

  • At first I asked myself "Why would anyone waste their time doing this?" But as soon as I started listening to the music, I knew why it had to be done.

  • Amazing work, well done. =)

  • Wow, I don't think it gets too much more nerdy than this, :D

    Someone should write an 8-bit NES port of S3K to top this.

  • You did each and every one of them, wow!

    ...except for the ones from the PC version, but they don't count :P

  • Absolutely incredible work. Still going through the soundtrack, I love what I'm hearing.

  • Loved the Carnival Night Zone section.

  • Wow. Incredible work man.

  • I'm really learning how to appreciate the music in games these days I don't know why....but I am.

  • i would this in sonic advance style.

  • Dude! This rocks! this is some real effort! Real good work you put into this!

  • you are a true bro.

  • amazing work!

  • Beyond Amazing

  • S3&K 8-bit version fan hack, anyone? ;)

  • YEAHHHH!!!!! BACK TO THE OLD TIMES!!!!!!! XD

  • Amazing. it takes a lot of dedication to do such a large soundtrack in its entirety, and so accurately too.

    oh and np about the hydrocity zone thing

  • This is awesome, I listened to them all last night! :)

  • I didn't know the NES could sound so smexy :P good job man

  • GIVE THIS MAN A TROPHY OF JUSTICE... HOLY SHIT! So awesome... I'm stoked.

  • GTFO... man, it's almost perfect in 8bit.

  • The act 1 boss theme at 4:53.

    My favorite song from the game since it has some Michael Jackson cues to it!

  • And this is matrix? And you read it?

  • I'm only 35 seconds into the video and I am eargasming all over the place. :O

  • You see that one dislike there yeah I'm not gonna do that you will be blasted thing, because the dislikes will move up and my comment won't be relevant anymore.

    ~~~~~~~ dislike deleted by metal sonic.
  • I almost cried... Thank you... These tunes would never play on a real Nintendo, I think the music in Mr Gimmick was the limit for the NES... These tunes are so good tho... Love it...
  • @AZthehedgehog Yes they would work on a real Nintendo, The VRC7 is a chip used in some Japanese Famicom Carts. On a Japanese Nintendo system, these would playback perfectly on a flash cart supporting VRC7. It is actually possible to write the NSF files to acustom cart and play them back that way.
    The same is possible on a US/EUR NES system, but in that case, requires a simple hardware mod
    On the japanese Famicom, no mods are required.
  • @SoulessSentinel VRC6 sorry, not 7.
  • @SoulessSentinel Really? Like would all the songs fit onto one cartridge though, there's like 50 something songs... Hope I don't sound nit-picky, I'm generally interested..
  • @AZthehedgehog Have you ever played a NES game? They're usually filled with songs just like that as well, don't be eluded by the quantity of songs, because the way chiptunes are made (think MIDI files -- they have the notes arranged in the file instructing the computer to play it, but the file contains no soundwaves at all, which results in a file incredibly small,) they're meant to fit many of them in a game cartridge alongside with all the game data.
  • @20eric07 Not to mention that nowadays most people use flashcarts, which allow for nearly no limitations in terms of space.
  • @20eric07 Yeah, I grew up playing NES games thanks... I just don't have a vast knowledge of making music for them... I was thinking more about how game's were made back in the 80's, I should've said to avoid this...
  • @AZthehedgehog Haha that's alright. The point I was trying to make here really was that even in the 80's such songs COULD be done in a stock NES, they just weren't this complex at the time due to underpowered tools to make them, as opposed to today when we have open-source tools freely available for just about every platform.
  • @AZthehedgehog It's generally one NSF file per cartridge, as they are a special forrmat of NES rom containing only the code for controlling the sound hardware. NSF files are multi-track though, so, quite a large number would fit. The mod for a US/EUR NES is simple, two pins from the expansion port need routing to the cart port, that's all. although finding a cart with the VRC6 Chip to actually replace the ROM of, could prove difficult. I actually intend to try this
  • Incredible!
