when i went for my shodan, i had to perfrom randori, plus Bassai Dai - Kanku Dai - Jion - Empi - Jitte kata, right an essay on the history, meaning, and personal meaning of karate. I started Karate when i was four, and got my shodan when i was 17, none of this 'six year on averege crap.' We treained hard and realistically. Don't get me wrong I started JKD when I was 6, and Aikido when I was 19, and wouldn't rely on karate for shit. But people should try it before they compare it to mma crap

I keep reading comments about what karate 'can do.' Karate 'can' kill, karate 'can' cripple' Yeah, find me a modern school that teaches it's dan grades lethal techniques. Good luck finding one. Karate takes years of adaption to make it effective for the indvidual karateka, and this girl probably knows all the stuff she did wouldn't do jack in a real fight. So quit the comments about how she could 'kick our ass.' Black belts don't mean you can fight, means you can write essays and memorise kata

@KurtCobain198666 I agree in years to master however, i disagree that its not quickly lethal. I only attended 2 years of martial arts, 25 hours a week conservatively. My last test was thumb strikes to pop eyes on dead cow heads. I think you may have something to the weakness of instruction. There were a lot of black belts from different disciplines that had to start very low in order to join our dojo, Chinese Kempo teaches lethal methods as soon as you have progressed in body and mind.
