  • Hi,thanks for the info on the harmony video==it will be very helpfull to us. btw what chords are you using for the George Harrison rythmn part. We are using G-Em-C-D for the intro and changing the D for a D7 for the rest of the song until the end and coverting the D7 back to a G.

I can't quite make out your chords and would be a great help if you could let me know them as it may help a lot with us getting the harmonies. Cheers again.

  • @GrasbyMike It looks like you're playing the song in a different key--you're playing it in G, but it should be in the key of D. Here are the basic chords:

    D Bm | Em7 A

    Bridge:

    G | F#7 | Bm | D7 |

    G | E7 | A

    Hope that helps.

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub Thank you very much this will help us get the song right now. When we have will post on my page and let you know.

  • As a life long Beatles fan I can honestly say this is the best I have ever heard of a cover by anyone. Truly gifted and a great sound=well done and keep producing this fabulous sound. This is a song my brother and I are learning at present and are having challenges with the harmonies and this video is an inspiration. Many thanks for posting.

  • @GrasbyMike Thanks for the compliments. You may be interested to know that I've already posted another video of this song where you can listen to the individual harmony parts in isolation. It's called "'This Boy' harmony breakdown".

  • Mind Blown

  • Incredible

  • I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this is. Oh how much work and practice it probably took to do this, not to mention the video editing. Brilliant. Amazing.

  • i play this video all the time, its Brilliant.............Better than the original..

  • @andyh361971 Thanks!

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub where are you from? do you gig or are you a session player?

  • @andyh361971 I'm from New York. I gig regularly with a wedding band, and occasionally do non-wedding gigs. I'd love to do more session work.

  • Amazing!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • This is honestly one of the best videos I've ever seen, and you are truly gifted! I learned so much by watching your harmony breakdown video of this song, and then when you put it all together, it was just breathtaking. Thank you so much for doing it.

I'd sure love to see you do more Beatles. You're amazing!

  • @michelina411 Thanks for the compliments! I have other videos of Beatles songs (in case you haven't found them yet), and I'm working on many more.

  • I hadn't realized John's, Paul's and George's faces as the background in the videos :O

  • YOU WERE RIGHT I HIT THE NOTE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

  • @MrBradleighB Excellent! So glad to hear it (and thanks for sharing).

  • Ce type est champion du monde. CHAMPION DU MONDE !!!

    Merci

  • @atBishopsgate Merci to you!

  • Is your hofner bass a modern day one or one of them rare old ones? if it's the latter how much do they usually cost? great video by the way!

  • @Dazzer247 It's a modern Hofner. They make three versions of this bass: the German-made '62 reissue (which is expensive), the Contemporary series and the Icon (lowest price). The one I have is the Contemporary--it's much more affordable than the '62 reissue. Even though the Icon is even cheaper, it looks different from the other two, and I feel that it's not as well-made.

  • i need to show this to everyone i ever met ever just to show that this is the shit, you sure are amazing, any tips on hitting that note? i try but i always crack

  • @MrBradleighB Thanks! I'm guessing that you're asking about the high A in the bridge (on the word "my"). It's a matter of opening up and relaxing (not constricting anything), and just "going for it". Don't hold back (don't be afraid to be loud), and don't set yourself up for failure by thinking "oh no, I'm going to crack". Also, don't feel bad--even John had Paul and George join him on those notes when they performed the song live.

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub thanks! i'll try my best next time,i use this cover for practicing my harmonies and hitting the high A,i always try too hard,i mean i can do the solo its just that note, gets me everytime, even John cracked when he tried hitting that note on live shows, anyways thank you again and keep up these great covers.

  • This is disgustingly amazing.

From a Beatlehead, you are a king.

  • @Sandler41882 LOL. Thanks!

  • Absolutelly beautiful!!!

Could you do the same with "I'm waiting for the day" and "God only knows", from the Beach Boys?

  • Any true Beatles fan would know this song thumbs up! :)

  • well , i can forget all my dreams of impressing anyone by singing and playing "this boy", day-yum !!!

  • I can tell you are sincere and what a perferct selection

  • totally need!

I first thought it would suck because normally people fuck up the singing part, but you did very very well my friend!

  • Really and truly wonderful in every way. Talk about a labor of love, my goodness.

  • OMG nice cover man, thats great :D

  • Brilliant cover and the best one I've come across on YouTube! Is there any chance of a download link? I'd love to add it onto my iTunes. Thank-you so much for sharing your beautiful talent, Andrew!

  • what kind of editing program do you use? by the way great video really enjoyed it

    :)

  • @DifferntWorld The video was put together using Final Cut Express (Mac software).

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub

oh thanks man good program and cover :)

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub But is there any way to make these transitions and divisions of the screen automatically? It's pretty good.

  • @molanda I did it all manually, by setting keyframes with different attributes for position and scale for each of the individual video "windows". Same goes for the video windows that appear to pulse in time to the music at the start of my video of "When I'm Sixty-Four".

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub I see. Thanks for the explanation. I also edited some videos with Final Cut Express (with fewer cameras). They are on my channel.

I look forward for your next video. Cheers!

  • I've spent MANY hours doing home recording on this song. I know what you've done. thanks for sharing it with the world! you are a inspiration....and a teacher

  • @nyerndc I hope they see it (and my other videos).

  • @nyerndc You forgot george and john......... ;)

  • your amazing.

  • This is my Favorite Beatles song because of the harmonies involved. You have revealed in video what my mind was having a hard time replicating. A million thanks for this great vidoe and the truly authentic version of this masterpiece.

  • @audiodell Thanks! Glad you liked it.

  • go to work

  • Very very beautiful voice!

  • Superb attention to detail.

  • amazing

  • Great job! Here's my version (with my brother and friend) from 10+ years ago:

    soundcloudDOTcom/applecore-andy/bad-hair-day-this-boy-home

  • NOPE! COMPLETELY WRONG! YOU PLAYED THE BASS RIGHT HANDED! ahaha im kidding this is pretty dang good

  • In principle, i hate beatles covers. Until today.

  • Please... AND I LOVE HER!!! And Hello GoodBye... And Imagine Of Lennon... And Real Love... =0!!!!!! Yes Yes.... REAL LOVE! PLEASE MAN! Greetings From Mexico's State =D!!!!.... I'm Beatlemaniak!!!

  • "Unfortunately, the 325 is wired in such a way that you can't select the middle pickup by itself, so I had to temporarily rewire it to achieve this."

This shows how amazing this man is!!

  • @gwfan04 Thanks. I don't know if I would say "amazing"...perhaps "obsessively detail oriented" would be more like it :-)

By the way, thanks for reading the description that I wrote for the video (it seems that not many people do).

  • Well I was planning on doing a cover of this until I saw yours, and no I just don't see the point.. Great job.

  • Great video, production and a good tutorial for those who want to render the song. I am part a Beatle trio where everybody is above 55 YO, but we're gonna learn a lot from your perfect detailled rendition. Bravo!!!

  • Has someone ever told you you look a bit like Paul? In some camera angle you're a dead ringer for him. Good job, mate!

    Beatles FOREVER!!!

  • wow, im very impressed. I play 3 instruments also and just watched your vocal video for this. Perfection.

  • great do more :)

  • Wow man i am awestruck...This is such a fantastic effort and despite even being an avid Beatles fan i find very little difference except the fact that you re not John Paul George and Ringo...Way to go ...

  • genius!!!!!!!!

  • dude you are basically john, paul, george, and ringo in one!!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Again....wow. Bravo!

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub BRILLIANT!!! i was thinking the exact same thing ;)

  • YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, I loved this so much I tried to recreate it myself!

    soundcloud [dot ] com/enursha/thisboy

I'm no singer so mine is nothing in comparison, but it was fun to make nonetheless. Your harmony breakdown helped a ton!

  • this is Fabulous !! i love the beatles harmonies and u do the more than justice ! keep the harmony breakdown videos coming ! some songs are hard to hear the lower harmonies that george sings

  • Muito bem, cara! You're very good, man! You're not amateur, are you? As a Beatles fan, I beg you: post more Beatles cover songs of yours as soon as you have, please! (GILBERTO SAUGEN, from BRASIL)

  • great job... really impressed... well done sir!!!!

  • What software did you use for this? And how did you get the timing perfect? Also, do you purposely screw up your mouth when singing?

  • @adamdude I used Digital Performer (similar to ProTools) to record the audio, and Final Cut Express to edit the video. Each instrument/vocal was video'ed while doing the audio in Digital Performer. I then assembled the video clips in Final Cut (you can align the timing of each video clip individually). As far as my mouth...LOL...I mentioned that at the end of the text description above. I was just trying to get the vocal tone that sounded right to me. I didn't realize what it would look like...

  • I've been a fan of the Beatles since as far back as I can remember, I'm 57, and I was TOTALLY blown out of my chair watching this! I happened upon it looking up In My Life and am so glad I did! The former comment is correct, this should have 20X the views it does! So being posted on Facebook! Thank you for sharing your incredible talents!

  • @njnewf Thanks for the kind words! Also, thanks for posting it on Facebook. :)

  • All querido pq não tem mas video deste maravilhoso conjunto

que saudades dos seus video espetacular

    bjs

  • Wow.. you commented on my guitar cover as a "nice sound"...but you sound fantastic ! Great work, your vocals are amazing not to mention the guitar, bass and drums. Best cover I have ever heard

  • Excelente!

  • I guess there's only two voices, not three singing in the original recording. Anyway, it's a very good job, dude. Tell me: If I wanna hire you, should I pay for ONE ARTIST or for FOUR? (GILBERTO SAUGEN, FROM BRAZIL)

  • @gsaugen There are, in fact three voices on the original recording (John, George and Paul), and then four more voices during the middle section. Why do you feel that there are only two? Anyway, I'm glad you liked the video, and I like your comment :)

  • WOW! Your voice is great, your guitar playing is great, your drumming is great, your bass playing is great! I hope I can only dream of making a cover like this! My covers so far just can't compare! Great work!

  • Amazing work''

  • veryy cooll nice to editing :)

  • you remember me the fiftys boys bands

  • How the hell this video only has 8400 views? 20X that amount should be fairer

  • @TheFree2fry Thank you. Tell all your friends to watch the video! :)

  • Congratulations!!! It's a fantastic job the one you've made!!! It's been a pleasure to listen to you!!! I'm not commenting the technical details because it's an unknown world for me, I just want to emphasize how amazing your performance is!!! I like it very much!!! Greetings from the Canary Islands!!!

  • @MsFerrera73 Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it.

  • It'sa great cover is fantastic....what program do you use for editing the video?

  • @TheTarafa Thanks! I use Final Cut Express (Mac) to edit the video.

  • I can say this one is Super i likeit verry much!!!!!!

  • That was pure brilliance. Really enjoyed, thank you

  • just fantastic. you are loaded with talent

  • Above average cover, same for the video. Well done.

  • Andrew, this is magnificent. Your vocals (harmonies) are impeccable. Tell me something, what software did you use to create the split screen visual effects?

  • @citizenpoet Thanks! I use Final Cut Express (Mac) to edit the video.

  • this is awesome, you should write simmilar music

  • Wow. Purposely recreating the sloppy edit at 1:28. Amazing!

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • this is a very good cover, its really hard to get the timing on the singing when your doing it alone but you nailed it right on. oh i have a request for you, since i like your harmonies you should do Nowhere Man. i bet you'll nail it like you did to this one

  • Great job! I'm a fourteen year old musician, and I like to do the same sort of thing: record covers of songs playing and singing everything. Your recordings sound so professional. I was just wondering how you record everything...into a computer I assume. What kind of equipment/software do you use?

  • @tazrevo Thanks for the compliments. Great to hear that you like to do these kinds of recordings as well. I was your age when I first started recording. As far as my equipment/software: I record using a program called Digital Performer (made by a company called Mark of the Unicorn). It's a Mac-based multitrack recording program (that's also a MIDI sequencer). I use a Rode NT2-a mic, and MOTU 828 audio interface. Sometimes I use an ART TubePac mic preamp/compressor.

  • If you can do a single video for George's part, it'd be very appreciated, me and my cousin have been trying to figure it out forever, btw you're so talented! It's so freakin good.

  • @SgtPepperIsMoi I have posted the harmony breakdown video. Enjoy!

  • 1:01 to 1:28 still gives me goosebumps - good job man!

  • simplesmente maravilhosooooooooooooooooo

  • Great cover! Me and my friends are doing a cover of this song and im singing john's part but i cant quite get it right since they all sing in unison and i cant tell who sings which part. Any suggestions?

  • @jec4895 I've posted a video that shows each harmony part by itself. Hope you find it helpful.

  • the bass its hofner???

  • @martindelpumas Yes, it's a Hofner Contemporary series 500/1.

  • FANTASTICOOO... MUY BUENA INTERPRETACION... 10!!

  • Awesome Job!

  • Nice job! Pardon the request, but I'd love to see you cover 'Yes It Is'.

  • @slw59 "Yes It Is" is another one that I'm working on. Stay tuned... :)

  • Nice man, very, very well....

  • mismag822 sent me here

  • The Acoustic guitar tone sounds dead on...what mic are you using?

  • @cleanmonk32 Thanks. The mic is a Røde NT2-A.

  • HOLY CRAAAAP!!! EVEN A PROPER SIMULATED TAPE EDIT!!!!

  • Do Yellow Submarine please! How did you learn to play so many instruments?

  • @keyblader007 I started teaching myself piano and guitar when I was 12. Learning to play bass came from my guitar playing. I'm still working on the drums...

  • @AllYouNeedIsLub From what I see your great on the drums among the other 100 instruments you play lol!
