This song is cursed! It's practically the ONLY song of which he ever wrote the solo instead of improvising it. In an interview he once stated that there's always something going wrong with this song. I.e. once he had to improvise the solo once because of gain problems which turned out to be the volume knob on his guitar that was turned down. Satch is more about improvise, that's in his nature, but in a song like Crushin' Day you can't replace a solo this powerfull with an improvisation.
If you read in the lastest interveiw with guitar mag. he say's he didn't like playing it live, "its not my style anymore, but I get so many requests for it, so i play it for my fans" I also seen him play it in vancouver..
No, man, you´re wrong. Satch has played Crushing Day live a few times in the early days during the Surfing With The Alien tour and during the whole Strange Beautiful Music World Tour. I´ve seen him playing it when he came to Brazil!!! It was fantastic!!! And about "Echo", he doesn´t play it very much, but there´s an official live recordig of it in the Time Machine album (I think it is the last song of the second cd).
I love this song, and I wish he'd play it more often live. But yet he refuses to play it for some reason... It's probably because it's so finger-bendingly twisted even he has some trouble playing it lol. Why there are not to much videos from Joe playing this live?? I bet every likes this song, but why this is the first time I see this Live. Its strange
I thought Satch never played this live...EVER! Why is he playing this? It's my favorite Satch song too and I thought I would never be able to see it live. There might be hope! What made him change his mind?

Usually Satch doesn't like to play this song because it's solos are so damn dangerous too pull off. He did pretty well here though :P
