  • Wow!! This is so so great!

  • Wonderful stuff - thanks for that!

  • most nick drake covers suck. but i loved this...maybe cuz its not really by nd? well done on playing and singing

  • i envy you @: how did u learn to sound so similiarly to him :/

  • this is quite accurate, good job.

  • Congratulations man! Awesome play awesome voice!

  • Thats very cool, very much the same guitar and voice! Thumbs up!!

  • Awesome! Love the precision in your playing. This is killing me; can you PLEASE tab the third chord you're playing in the intro at .10 - .17. Also I can't for the life of me figure out that LAST CHORD! Bravo on an excellent rendition :)

    cheers,

    julie

  • really wel done. ;D

  • Hey, I've been dissecting this video for a while. Cheers for making a video that actually sounds like the song as it's played.

One thing that has me in the transcription is the E-like chord in the intro. The first 4 chords go Am, Am7/G, Asus4/F#(not sure on the name of it), and then Asus4/F. Right after that (0:18) it's an Am, then you use two chords that look very close to an E (this is going visually) at 0:22-0:25.

Any advice you could offer would aid me in tabbing this wonderful cover.

  • Glad you enjoy it. Yes, I do pride myself in being able to produce accurate renditions! The 2 chords you're asking about are 022200 (not sure of the name!) followed by an E. All the best, Frank.

  • @frankvyvyan You know, Those are the exact same chords I'm playing now. I guess I just have to listen a little closer to the picking pattern. It's a very fluid song, moves around a lot. Thanks for the clarification.

  • Great cover man! I'd love to learn this song but i'm afraid i'm not too at sharp learning picking patterns plus chords from just watching a video like this. If you ever find the time, a lesson of how to play this song would be greatly apprechiated! Cheers

  • Great cover, and you sold me on that guitar.

  • Which model is that...sounds good.

  • cheers - it's the 00-15.

  • @frankvyvyan

I was gonna ask that, actually, I should be getting one if I can find one which I can pay for :L

  • great!

  • beautiful guitar man. love the cover also.

  • Really well done

  • Love this song! Great cover.

    Like you guitar too. :-)

  • fantastic

  • Perfect.

    That's all.

    Plus 5 star,

    'couse I can't more..

  • can u post the chords?

  • Excellent stuff mate,*****

  • Amazing job man, If someone told me you were Nick Drake (I dont actually know what he looks like) I would believe it. You sound great-- Ive been looking for how to play this song for months now, and now I think I can work it out. Thanks man

  • lol - that's high praise indeed! Well, I did go to the same school as him, but that's my only connection. Glad to have helped you out with the playing.

  • damn! so tight (Y)!!

  • Let my first comment on youtube be for you. That says how much I like your version. :)

  • Brilliant! You've captured the soul of this song my friend! You've also covered all my favorite songs. Bravo and all stars to you ********!

    cheers

    julie

  • Nice job playing it, btw. I didn't say that before.

  • As much as I admire your loyalty to the classical technique, this song does actually require your thumb over the neck to fret the bass notes whilst playing the Am chord with hammer-ons. This is true for other innovative steel-string compositions, such as Davy Graham's 'Angi'. Time to get dirty, baby! :-)

  • Yeah.. I just can't do it. It's not pretention, it's just something I never developed. :/

  • yeah well you can take your classically training pretention elsewhere...here, we dont care much about it

  • ur brilliant, where did u work out the tabs?

  • cheers man - I learnt it by ear. Best tip I can give is that you need to use your thumb around the neck (on both the 2nd and 1st fret) in order to play the descending bass line on the E string.

  • hey that was 100% perfect. im very very impressed, thanks 4 that

  • well done

  • Drake is simply the greatest...very good cover! Congrats, thanks!

  • Fan freakin tastic. is the tuning in standard? or a typical Drake open one?

  • Cheers man. Yes, it's standard tuning - played in A minor.

  • got it dude, now i can play it till the day is done. :p lol

  • NICE ONE :)

  • awesome! encore!

  • Great work, the guitar is haunting just like on the original tapes!
