  • They should add the Steinberger piezo pickups! That will add the possibility for a full acoustic sound.

  • i think that is the best bass sound of all time.

  • @jamesha175 Absolutely. Cross a Stick with a fretless bass and you've got a WINNAR!!!

  • I thought it was impossible to tap on a fretless neck?

  • @RediForKing Tapping on a fretless bass?See Michael Manring.

  • Awesome as EVER Don!!!! Most Excellent :)

  • wow, an 8 string half fretless stick? I thought this was only real in my dreams... lol

  • Don- amazing! The coolest aspect has to be how you segue from crossed to uncrossed playing, in addition to going from plucking to tapping. Can't wait for another solo or duo album!

  • Now that is a toy I would love to play with. Great playing by the way.

  • Don schiff is awesome in everything he creates in his music.

  • This guy is a genious.

  • awesome

  • 1:51 now that is how you play a bass head stock or not

  • In "Emmett Chapman explains the NS/Stick"Emmett himself calls it a bass.

  • e w w w w he plays it like a bass and it has no headstock! :(

  • It was made as a concesion to bass players.See "Emmett Chapman explains th NS/Stick."

  • ...uh... that's what a stick is. sorry to disappoint you. I've seen this guy live, and he's amazing.

  • Which custom options are available for the NS/Stick? Is it possible to have only the upper octave of the bass strings (ie., above the 12th fret) FRETLESS & with white marks in the place of the frets? (IMHO, blank would look a little bit odd)

  • Amazing!

  • My left side brain hurts just from watching the right hand action. I had a fretless tapper and knows how insane it is to play in tune. He taps ON the frets place in the one region, and the same time, same hand, hand BEFORE the frets in the other. And the other hand is doing stuff too at the same time too.

But i hear Chapman put some of those multi tasking chips in his brain, thats why...

  • Impresionante instrumento. Muy bueno

  • I love this instrument, I actually patented it. (some strings with frets and some without) Way to go!!! you guys did a good job...Frank

  • lovely:inspiring!

  • Smart!

He uses the frets to help him hit the right notes!

    Don Schiff the great!

  • when i first read ur comment i was like "um, yea, thats wut they're there for, have u been under a non-musical rock for the past 300 years?" but then i realized that u were talking about using the frets to hit the right spots on the frettless side...

  • "um, yea, thats wut they're there for, have u been under a non-musical rock for the past 300 years?"

Hahaha I nearly laughed to death.

I have now the stick, AMAZING instrument... After all that waiting! Though it was worth it!

    Grreetings from Norway

  • i cant help but be jealous! im dying to get one but i cant scrape up the money...

  • Elegant work Mr Schiff

  • He makes the fretless look sooooooooo easy...

  • Don's great. No BS, great playing, I love how he describes his playing and instruments. No pompous musician attitude. Just down to earth, good guy.
