  • The sound was recorded with skystarseraph's ballsack.

  • 1:49 "A comedy lamprey just sucking the joy out of everything I touch"

  • This and every show Stephen does is the reason why when Obama was asked after he did the Daily Show, if he was going to do the Colbert Report, He responded no he wasn't. He was asked why not, Obama replied with a smile and chuckle, "because nobody beats Stephen".

  • King Colbert. This guy never has a bad set, and finishes every single joke off to reach its fullest laugh potential. Comics strive to be him, women dive to sleep with him, and Chevy Chase will now jump up to veto his presence at any more roasts he is attending.

  • Greg Giraldo may have been the all around most consistently "best" at Roasts (and he was, truly, the best), but Stephen Colbert's bit here was probably the cleverest. kudos.

  • GREY ON BEIGE!!!

  • Awesome.

  • those roasts are not as cool as the great comedy central roasts (sheen, trump, flave,Pam Anderson , shatner or even )

dunno why , but they seem so ......White .

  • @DentistD1G Because they were more personal attacks because Chevy Chase is a talentless dick who thinks he is better than his comedy peers because made made a few films. I do enjoy some of his films, but to say he is talented is an outright lie.

  • @darklordixor Vacation, Seems Like Old Times, Fletch are talentless?? I'd love to know who you think is talented then?

  • Stephen Colbert is such a badass....

  • This is really mean compared to other roasts. I actually feel bad for Chevy :l

  • Chevy Chase does look like a Mafia Don in this roast.

  • anyone else get the impression that chevy chase is a mafia don from this?

  • So Mr. Chase slit his arteries after this or what? burned to the ground by the good colbert. lol

  • @leshark I've never found him all that funny myself..

  • @leshark You have to have a certain level of intelligence and education to appreciate Stephen Colbert.

  • @ReklawLah HAHA thats the most retarded comment ive ever read... Im a third year medic, so i guess by your logic im too clever to understand his jokes.

  • @leshark You'd think that someone with your education would know how to use apostrophes and proper capitalization.

  • @ReklawLah Yeah nice comeback, attack someones grammar on the internet. You must be new round here... LOL try again mate.

  • @leshark Ok, I'll try again: "someone's".

  • @ReklawLah LOL you really are pathetic! Butthurt cos someone doesn't share you're opinion. BooHoo... Here have fun with this, i used the wrong "you're" just for you.

  • @leshark You dont need brain for going medical school. Every jurk can do that.

  • @kristianfagerheim coming from a person who liked the video "Real Evidence Aliens Were Here In The Past" HAHAHA!

  • @leshark Thats notn the same then I belive the shit. I belive i evulosjon, dumb ass!

  • Bow at the presence of GREATNESS you unworthy crowd! Colbert is totally on a different level than all of those other comedians.

  • Hoooooooly shit. That was fuckin epic.

  • To the top comment and the plan for the president's cabinet... It seems like God's plan, or 'Hairy Thundery', or 'Cosmic Muffin', whatever you consider God to be. Absolutely. What a great cabinet. Please fill in more jobs, and include more corpses, they are definitely more productive than the present crew!

  • I love Colbert, he didn't waste a single syllable. And how ironic that Chevy thought he was being disrespected by being roasted by a bunch of people he didn't know, but he ends up getting a comedy genius like Colbert right before he's about to blow up.

  • Vicious. Hilarious, but soo fucking vicious. wow. Reminds me of when Michael Scott got roasted on The Office.

  • Jeff ross is the best roaster ever

  • I hate when people compare Stephen Colbert and God

I mean hes good but hes not Stephen Colbert

  • @Airportris a wise man once said "Shut up! Stephen's talking"

  • @Airportris good comment

  • pierce, pierce,pierce, pierce you're a B!

  • good lord, that was brutal! The truth can be quite vicious.

  • This is the only one chevy seemed to find funny. he just looked pissed the rest of the time lol

  • chevy chase GTFO

  • He needs to play Kowalski for a live Penguins of Madagascar film lol

  • Coal Bear

  • What Will Rogers was to his era, Stephen Colbert is to this era. Read "I Am America (And So Can You). If you have any sense of humor & sarcasm, you'll "get it". If not, then you're probably a conservative, religious Tea Party Republican ( a very untreatable condition).

  • Colbert is so cute and wide-eyed and... gorgeous

  • you are fucking man colbert!!!!!

  • Even in a roast Colbert stays classy.

  • 240p, we meet again

  • @damouse8 fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck spamming

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha "sketcheteers"

  • chevy chase is the kevin costner of comedy

  • wow that's the most cruel and funny roast I've ever heard

  • Why can't we see this roast in full? I'm asking you Comedy *cough*.

  • hahaha comedy lamprey.

  • Colbert and Maron, nice roast

  • Up until I was about 15 years old, I thought Steven Colbert was Bob Saget.

  • @boriqua8993

    lol

  • @boriqua8993 Your funny meter must be broken if you thought Steven Colbert was Bob Sagat.

  • @dakels11

    hahah :D

  • Oh my god, this is the best roaster bit by far

  • Here's the plan.

    President=Colbert

VP= Stewart (colbert would never except 2nd best.. especially to stewart)

    Secretary of State=Lewis Black

Secretary of Defense= George Carlin's Corpse

    Secretary of Education= Jack Black

Secretary of Transportation= Chum Lee from Pawn Stars

I think these characters could do a fair and decent job. don't you?

  • @KingSturgill

    Carlins Corpse. Good choice.

  • @KingSturgill No.

  • @KingSturgill : You could fit in Bill Maher somewhere .... couldnt u?

  • @praggi6 what cabinet spot should he be?

  • @KingSturgill Department of Justice. :)

  • @KingSturgill Come on, where is the corpe of Bill Hicks?

  • @zelemont How the hell would he be able to do anything, he's dead!

  • @KingSturgill

Acting secretary of defense since George or his corpse isn't available: Joe Rogan.

  • @KingSturgill Hmmm I think You and I my friend, think alike.

  • @KingSturgill be better then whats in there now or has been in there in the last 200 years

  • @KingSturgill It's appalling how stupid you are.

  • @riojurkin you lack a decent sense of humor.

    how sad.

  • @klowdz1 No, but the idea that comedians could efficiently run this country is a bit ridiculous. I bet you're one of those people who take all of your news from Daily Show and Colbert Report without realizing it's satire.

  • @riojurkin Of course not. its comedy, told by a comedian/actor.their perspective is always good for a laugh. Please, stop being silly with people in the comment section and understand that it was just a joke. no need to heckle or act shitty.

As if 88 people want to see the late George Carlin's corpse as the secretary of defense..lol

  • @klowdz1 You're right it was a stupid joke. But thanks to freedom of speech I can say whatever the fuck I want about it. If you don't want this to continue then end it by not responding.

  • @riojurkin you sound upset young man.

    mmm your tears are delicious.

  • @klowdz1 That's pretty fucked up mr internet warrior

  • @riojurkin The statistics, according to Pew Research Center, show that people who watch The Daily Show are generally better informed than people who watch other 'real' news programs. The information is accurate, that's why it's funny.

  • @KingSturgill *accept

  • @KingSturgill You forgot louis ck, you gotta throw him in somewhere.

  • @KingSturgill

You know they could actually make it, but when you said Jack Black... you may as well put George Bush as Secretary if education.

  • @KingSturgill atleast george could keep a straight face in negotiations...

  • What was he talking about?

  • People need to find better reasons to start arguments. Try any video about either politics, religion, or a certain ethnic group. You'll find great arguments there.

Anyways, even if the top comment is long winded it's not half as bad as some of the comments. Check out what bkwparadox is saying lmfao!!!

  • sounds almost as mean as that bush roast lol

  • As per usual, Colbert rocks!

  • 666 likes? that explains everything.

  • @MarGoLuv i ruined that for ye

  • Shit that was brutal lol

  • STEEEE-VEN STEEEE-VEN!

  • @jimithingjames Perhaps. I think the Colbert Report is much funnier than the Daily Show. It's satire is brilliant and the way Colbert pulls it off is masterful.

  • @jimithingjames

Colbert honors Chevy Chase just as Antony's "Brutus is an honorable man" was a solemn eulogy of ol' Jules. Colbert's appeal lies not in his buffoonery (a bit much) or acting skills (few), but in his mastery of the "bon mot": facility in the twist of phrase with which a million of us might identify, even if ironically, but could never utter in day-to-day speech, despite its degree of smackalicious with which ignorance like yours should be fed. And that's The Word.

  • @bkwparadox seriously?

  • Chevy has voted this clip down 23 times already!

  • 1:56 Belzer was impressed!

  • Please make another 'Fletch'

  • Colbert is a genius.

  • community <3

  • stephen is a "Boss"

  • that.... was.... awesome!!!!!!!

  • 2:00 loved this part

  • chevy and the douche from law n order are the only ones wearing sunnies inside at night.

  • Much funnier than the usual spouting of profanity for the sake of shock and awe. Good job.

  • chevy is a dick.. he is an asshole in person.. and he looked like he didnt want to be there the whole time.. he pro9bably didnt

  • That was brilliantly funny but pretty brutal.

  • at the end i just had to say ouch!

  • @stevespell2. Well my my I am very impressed . No joke . Resembles alot of the side work I do so keep up the fight .

  • Love this . Hmm I'm a Canadian in Louisiana and I see way too much wrong but can they have the smarts to accomplish anything like that ? Haha doubt it but you caught my interest I'll check it out .

  • erbbgrnykwhtryj6etubrvtrdfgrgvtdfgv- ( face hitting keyboard while laughing )

  • 3:19 hahaha verbally raped Chevy

  • Chevy is doing a slow burn, because other than Paul Schaffer, almost nobody he ever worked with showed up for the event. That says a lot about how many bridges he has burned.

  • @KB4QAA Most of these roasts on comedy central have few people that actually worked with the roastee. Also remember Belushi and radner are dead (though belushi never really liked him) and Murray and him weren't friends. Steve Martin and Chase are friends and it was something that he and martin short did a short taping for him. Akyroid is the only one really missing I think, but after "Nothing But Trouble" they probably figure its best to stay far away from each other.

  • @snakeguy76 So... your argument against Chevy Chase burning bridges is confirming that he has in fact lost the support and/or never earned the support to begin with, of several colleagues?.........

  • @elijahw06 No as i understand he still close with many of these guys. whether he works with them on movies is different. We are talking about careers that spanned 40 years. They've each gone their own separate ways. Murray, martin and aykroyd have moved more into serious roles. Chase has always stayed with comedies. Its his choice, I don't think he burned bridges. Maybe he is a dick in real life but i've always enjoyed his performances (even in bad movies)

  • Sketchateers

  • Shut up Paul, Stephen's natural talent is as much of a phenomenon as the fact you're an abortion survivor.

  • Only Colbert could pull off roasting someone by saying how great he is.

  • That was brutal. Poor Chevy.

  • this was before anyone really knew who he was. ha ha must be from 2003 or 2004

  • @WHATYOUSAYCLOWN how big is the bag and how many dicks are inside of it lol

  • Colbert was unquestionably the best roaster of the night. But that shouldn’t be surprising because, after all, his job is to roast politicians and the media on a nightly basis. All of the comments on this clip are about how Colbert “destroyed” Chevy Chase, but his roast of Chevy was painless in comparison to how he mercilessly savaged George W. Bush (by the way, he didn’t use a single swear word in that roast either).

  • wow...brillant

  • Comment removed

  • 1:59 Richard Belzer gives Stephen a well deserved "Wow!"

  • It's great to see that Colbert respects Chevy Chase enough to use the highest aspects of his intellect, and that Chevy actually smiled and enjoyed himself compared to the horror show the entire roast was.

  • this is how you fucking roast.

  • why did Chevy go to his own roast dressed as a blind man going to prom?

  • @thefuzzyzombie So people wouldn't see the fire in his eyes.

  • @DanimalLawlz increasing the temperature of a reaction increases the rate at which it happens. So hot acid would react faster than colder acid.

  • @ggeoirgier

Complete bullshit, only a catalyst can increase the rate of a reaction, temperature is sometimes a catalyst, like if your melting ice, when dealing with acids everything changes. A chemistry teacher or anyone knowledgeable in the subject of basic Chemistry would be horrified by your "explanation" and even more terrible examples. There is nothing worse than ignorance trying to parade as knowledge.

  • @motioneccentrica

"only a catalyst can increase the rate of a reaction"

Absolutely wrong. So can pressure, so can temperature, and depending on the reaction, even _reducing temperature_ can increase the reaction rate (as in an entropically-driven reaction).

"There is nothing worse than ignorance trying to parade as knowledge."

Cute quote. It applies in spades to what you've written.

  • @MsCoralline

Pressure and temperature are catalysts if they are altering the rate of a reaction.

    Idiot.

Atleast google it before you continue to spew your stupidity.

  • @motioneccentrica

They are NOT catalysts. They're state functions.

Catalysts BY DEFINITION lower the free-energy of the rate-limiting steps of a reaction. Temperature and pressure (most commonly) simply shove more free-energy at the reaction; they don't LOWER the free energies at all.

You're wrong, and you were called out on it. Sorry. That's the way life is sometimes. Accept it and learn. And stop being a douchebag on YouTube.

  • @motioneccentrica Temperature nor pressure are a catalyst in the scientific definition of the word. A high school kid can tell you that. The scientific definition of catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of reaction (in both directions) without actually being consumed in the reaction.

  • Colbert has to be the greatest comedian/satirist of at least the last 30 years.

  • All these guys really hate each other in real life. This is the opportunity to vent out without payback.

  • @undefeated29 Nope.

  • Its funny how the second highest rated comment is kind of a more direct way of saying the highest.

  • Holy shit, did Chevy Chase like, murder Colbert's parents or something?

  • @facecycle its called a roast lol

  • @IsThisSpasificEnough Yeah I know but against other ones this seems way more brutal.

  • lol

  • That riff at 1:30 is a tribute to Chevy's freak-out scene in Christmas Vacation.

  • ouchhhh

  • great stuff stephen!!!

  • that attack to colbert in the beginning made him uneasy

  • Chevy should have laughed more.

  • I think its all for charity.

  • I've never understood the rational for agreeing to being roasted.

  • "He's chevy chase and your Not and if that doesn't cheer you up I don't know what will" LOL..

  • Some people have allowed themselves to be conditioned to believe that swearing - in itself - is automatically funny. It isn't. This roast segment comes across as incredibly harsh but it utilises outstanding subtlety and irony. Colbert uses a form of satire more scalding than hot acid. Brilliant execution, in both senses of the noun.

  • @marriedtoapoet I believe acid maintains its caustic properties regardless of temperature. Colbert isn't a good roast comedian, he's clearly better at interviews and political satire. Greg Giraldo and Jeffrey Ross are clearly better.

  • @DanimalLawlz

Um... I truly think you watched this video and undoubtly failed with ignorance to see that he truly in fact skinned Chevy Chase. Colbert is so clever and smart that i dont think you saw how sarcastic he was being. Greg Giraldo and Jeffrey Ross are good, however they could never roast somebody like that EVER. They have to use curse words and obnoxious language to roast somebody. Colbert is just to classy and clever. COLBERT 2012!!!

  • @mrdjjd1989 I watch Colbert's show every night, I'm pretty accustomed to his character. I just prefer less G-rated humour in my roasters.

  • @marriedtoapoet You are right, but Bob Saget disagrees with you 100%

  • @marriedtoapoet what?

  • @marriedtoapoet Are you fucking insane?

  • @marriedtoapoet can't people just write like a fucking journalist on their own time and cut the bullshit and get straight to the point, honestly, writing in that fashion doesn't make you seem smarter or correct.

  • @marriedtoapoet also you have to love his use of lovecraftian phrasing. A gentleman insult.

  • @marriedtoapoet what?

  • @marriedtoapoet

    lighten up Francis..

  • @marriedtoapoet And idiots like you are the reason we are stuck with this stupidity. Roasts used to be relevant to the roastee - they had people who knew the person being roasted. Now it's jsut a yuk fest for low brow retards. Grow the hell up.

  • @marriedtoapoet What are you, an English teacher? Your fancy description fails to mask what this really is...a RANT!!!!

  • @mrbennettg2 Frankly, a little eloquence is refreshing on a message board. On the internet, It's so rare to encounter people who have an IQ over 100.

  • @PerfectParticiple Huzzah! You've spoken the truth.
