Seen em and they are not accurate at all. Too many assumptions (false ones at that), and I am just not impressed. The responses from LDS scholars are far more powerful...
You honour me in the highest form possible, by increasing yourself because you were inspired. I can't think of anything more humbling. Thank you Kerry.
The book of Mormon is other than christianity. No matter how you clean a pig you got a pig. No matter how you use scholarly methods you still come up short of truth. This sucks because i ou as i was listening to your Hebrew stuff.
In other news, a noted Book of Mormon scholar was killed when a magnitude 6.0 earthquake dislodged the the footings of his massive bookcase, crushing him.
Ohhhhh,
I couldn't help it!
I am glad that you are sharing the knowledge from the library you have so I don't have to spend $50,000 on books. Thanks
The Hill Cumorah (according to "LDS scripture" and "the prophet Joseph Smith") was the site of a massive battle where massive numbers of men were killed. The "mormon Church" owns this land. Why don't they excavate it and bring forth the DNA and archeological evidence. You always say "just because we have not found it doesn't mean its not there" Why not? Because its all a fairy tale, and "the church" knows it.
Just Tuned in to your Book of mormon Vedio's So I thought i better start from the begining. Great to see all those books! made me smile how much you love those books. also made me smile when you pointed out books that I also have. I'll try and catch up now :)
THAT IS JUST AMAAAAZING!!! Now there is NO EXCUSE whatsoever on not studying the BookofMormon because I've read it and there's no new way of reading or studying it-MY GOODNESS! That whole library of yours is all about the BookofMormon. Some of the titles caught my interest-I'm definately going to watch your videos. Thank you for doing this BackyardProfessor. You've motivated my lazy butt to do more than just read the BookofMormon. Alofas, your Samoan brada from anada mada...Tupua.
Well, stay tuned, more to come. Thanks for your nice words and comments. Now quit slobbering all about my videos, and slobber about the Book of Mormon - LOL!
The BoM is either the most astonishingly well crafted hoax in history, or it's an inspired scripture. I don't think there's any middle ground. I can't wait to go through the BoM with you based on your video commentary. I'd encourage others out there to check out Through the Bible Radio's Bible bus which does a whirlwind tour of the old and new testaments in 365 days.
Take up my challenge with a twist.....why am I not surprised?! You do march to your own beat, honey, just like me. And listen to how silly this sounds, "my lazy butt" after a 16 hour workday, I'd like to see what hard-working is!
GRIN! Well, the longest I have ever worked is 50 hours. I had a piece of art going to a world class Mesoamerican archaeologist, and I almost didn't make the time cut. I worked everyday for a month about 20 hours a day, after 3 weeks, slept an entire day, then sprinted for 50 straight hours getting it done. It was astonishing to make such a gorgeous piece of art.
I think this is the most important work you can do here on youtube, doing a full commentary on the Book of Mormon, thanks for educating us with knowledge and insights. Doctrine and Covenants section 88 vs 118 for the win!
Well, I am going to throw myself into this with complete abandon. I am notgoing to give a Reader's Digest version, but the grand Encyclopedic version of this. I have just received a most astonishing gift of Heaven today. I am thrilled, awed, and absolutely humbled by it. I shall explain in a vid tonight. It couldn'tbe a more ***perfect*** beginning to my commentary. I truly mean that.
Hi BYP, as an atheist my main interest in religion is usually to learn about other peoples culture & improving my debating skills.
I don't know much about Mormonism other than the deluge of biased anti-Joseph Smith propaganda that exists (I call it propaganda based on the sound of one hand clapping).
Your infectious desire for knowledge & the genuine way you share it makes me look forward to your video analysis, although I must admit my interest will be more anthropological than spiritual.
I will certainly be deliving into the anthropological aspects ofthe Nephite and Lamanite cultures also. Thank you for your kindness. I think this will be my best videos yet. I am not finished with any of the other ideas either, and will make videos on other subjects, but I think for this year, I am going to put the peddle to the metal and let er rip it up. Woo hoo! This will be the Sunday School class we have always wanted, and never received. There will be things new and interesting for all.
Oh my freeeeeekin' gosh, I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. You don't trifle with this, how impressive. I want to read King Benjamin's speech. That is my FAVORITE treatment of the gospel in action. I look forward to your gifts. Wow, I'm humbled. (You're still naming resources, haha) Wow, wow wow. Yes, a serious commitment shows true devotion.
Hi BoMReader. I am subbed to you under Butterisa, I meant to make my statements to you and subscribe to you under my account and I ended up doing it under my wife's... lol
I didn't realize that until you showed up in her video comments. I still think that you are a great lady.
This was a cool challenge and it gets people like myself that may not believe the same interested to watch to see what others come up with. You got me glued to this video interested in the responses 2.
Yet Brigham Young did say that Mormon Theology was soooo simplistic that he could write it down on one piece of paper and fold it up and put it into his pocket... lol
I know none of us make perfect statements but that one by Brigham Young is laughable! ;=)
I cant find where to buy any of the books you just name. I really chould use a # to a book story. plan to get good # of the books you just named. I look for to some info
Sweet library BYP. A lot like my own. But you are missing some volumes, namely Brant Gardner's new series "Second Witness: Analytical and Contextual Commentary on the Book of Mormon".
Yes, I am painfully aware of that. I will repent as soon as my paycheck catches up to me however - lol...... Yes, I will not, nor would not want to leave out Brant's magnificent ideas and interpretations. We all at FAIR have learned so much from his mighty pen and mighty mouth - GRIN!
Those are various copies of the Dead Sea Scrolls in their Hebrew and Aramaic. A lot of Greek materials, manuscripts etc. That's one of the Bible sections in my bookshelves.
I really look foward to your series and commentaries, I'd love to get into your library for a day just to even browse through your collection and take away some good names and titles. Good luck!!!
Hey BYP I think that Biblica Book on the top shelf should come down before it falls on your head. That big book should be on the botton with the smaller texts on top. It would be much safer that way!...The cats always knock my stuff over..This series sound like it will be great!
Woah, that's a nice library of books you have there!
