  • Got the same B.B. ( beautiful Bass haha )

    It sounds awesome..

Dude you should have put much more bass in the EQ.. Sounds weird in the video.

    BASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS POWER

  • Fucking hell, the guy was just showing you what the bass looks and sounds like. I'm a bass player but for god's sake - all you people do is go on Youtube and say stuff like "He's a guitar player" "He's not good enough to have that bass" Give it a rest. I even saw one guy with the user name 'Idontusepicks' seriously? you care that much? You people either need another hobby or you need to be institutionalised.

  • @returnofthejippo Well said, dude.

  • can you do it again, all i heard was clank clank squeek clank

  • @PinkPurpleGreenBlue Sorry, it's long gone...you'll have to listen in between all the clank clank squeek clank's...or find your own...

  • @greengtrs nawwww man i'm just messin it's all good merry christmas

  • You may want to try some flatwounds with the finger noise...nice bass though.

  • @gar58 It doesn't bother me...but if finger noise bothers you (or anyone), flatwounds are worth a try...I don't like them so much myself...I like the sound of the bridge pickup and in a big rig (several hundred watts with an 8x10 cab or more) in a loud band situation, there is plenty of bass going on and it cuts through the mix...and there are plenty of famous bass players out there that like this kind of a sound...like Geddy Lee...or Marcus Miller. This was to show the bass, not my playing...

  • Your right fingers sound is not good, too thin and too much treble. As a bassist it would be better to have a fat sound by right fingers. I guess you need more serious right hand fingering to give a real bass player shape on your right fingers. It's just an opinion. Nice bass btw...

  • @danznokaze These demo's are almost never to show my skills as a player...maybe if it is a jamming/looping one I am showing that I can play, but this one and most of the videos I do are for the purpose of inserting a video in an eBay listing for the bass so you can see it and hear it (better than just pictures) and get an idea of what it can do. I have nails on my right hand because I am a guitar player first and I fingerpick...to get the best bass sound, I would need to cut off my nails...

  • @greengtrs Ah, that's it...It sounds creepy, never play bass with long nails yo...I do really dislike those sounds...

    Hahaha...

  • @danznokaze But you like the sounds of Marcus Miller...I don't get it...that's something I always like and try to set (as I think he is amazing)...that clarity for the highs and yet also a deep (but not muddy) sound for the lows. I think you just like to give me a hard time. Do you give a hard time to bass players who use a pick? Maybe you just don't like this bass...try some of my other bass videos...

  • youre not a bass player so why are u constantly buying so many good basses?

  • @PhoebusRose64 I love basses...I love playing bass (and when I'm jamming with other's I usually keep it more bass-ic...more or less lock in with the kick drum)...and I know a lot about them...I have sold every major brand for close to 20 years and have dealt with all the major high end (what some consider more boutique) companies as well...I don't have to be a great bass player to do that...and I'm not that bad...and you don't exactly intimidate me as plenty of other players I've helped have.

  • @greengtrs

no, you really are a pretty bad bass player to waste your money on soo many basses.

get one, and practice until you get better!!

  • @VanishingDigital You just like to talk s%*t...you obviously can't play a lick yourself so you just spew crap comments at everybody else.

    Your channel says it all...

It shouldn't matter to you what I waste my money on...having money doesn't mean I actually deserve to own these instruments (which I don't really own anyways). And you don't have to be good at playing bass (or guitar) to enjoy it and that's what it is really about. Enjoy your games!

  • @greengtrs

Excuse me? you have more basses then everyone i own and me combined (yes i do play bass) but you're not even close to anyone else. no i haven't uploaded any videos, but that's only because i don't really give a shit enough to buy a camera and set it up.

it matters to me because its not fair that someone at your skill level wastes his money on things he shouldn't have. look at the comments, the tone sucks and a bunch of people agree with me!

  • @VanishingDigital Let's try this from a different angle...I am a store owner...these (videos of) instruments are almost all just inventory. Unlike most store owners, I can (and love to) play a few instruments. I sell most of these on eBay and if/when you look at my ads or listings, you actually get to see the instrument you are thinking of buying and can tell that it works (better than a few pics could show). These videos aren't about showing my chops, they just show the instruments working.

  • @greengtrs

    ooooohhh

okay that clears everything up. okay, i thought you bought each and every one of those things, and just put them on youtube for whatever reason.

    ...

    ...

you wouldn't happen to have a standard jazz bass sunburst...?

  • @VanishingDigital Cool...finally...lol. I have like 225 videos so far and maybe 25 are of me just having fun (and that would mostly be on guitar and not bass as I am a guitar player first and foremost)...look up "greengtrs" and "looping" and most of those will come up in a list...the rest are of guitars and basses I've either sold or are selling currently. Visit my channel page for a link to my "live" on eBay stuff. I don't have any Jazz basses at the moment but I'm always looking...Subscribe!

  • @greengtrs

    haha okay.

  • dude wtf are you using a guitar amp or something?

  • @Mikanish I say what I use in the more info section under the video...and it IS a bass amp...just not a big bass amp...and when I push the lows too hard here (with my built in mic on the camcorder and especially with my old amp, everything in the house shakes and it distorts the tape...so it would wind up sounding bad anyways...this shows that the bass works fine and played loud through a rig with at least 4x10's, you would get great highs and decent lows (flatwound strings would help the lows).

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @spectorman09 What the #&^% were you expecting? I showed off a wide range of sounds...this wasn't a display of my playing chops...it was a demo of the bass for anyone interested in buying this one...for an eBay ad...much better than a few pictures ever could. Feel free to post a video response of how you think it should be.

  • i dont play bass. i play guitar....uhhh i may be wrong but....this bass sounds more trebly than bassy.....why would you go for that sound??

  • oh god why the hell so much treble goddd my ears bleed

  • @michael1400pizdec what kind of speakers are you listening to this with...I am using Klipsch which are pretty warm sounding...but I do try to show the full range from the brightest sounds it is capable of showing to the deepest (and this is a Jazz bass so it's not going to get terribly deep or warm anyways).

  • @greengtrs it does go warm

  • @VarykGerai Of course they do...check out at about the 4:00 mark...but for the most part, this is the sound I like here...next time I get one, I'll try to put more emphasis on the warm side of it...playing style and of course strings can make a huge difference...different metals, round or flatwound...silk core wrap, etc. I guess I was aiming at as close as I could get to Geddy Lee type of sound with the cheap little amp I've got.

  • @greengtrs I use creative inspire A300 and they sound with much treble...

  • @michael1400pizdec Hes a guitar player :P

  • take this idiot out of his misery

  • @juanshaggymierda You have been a member of the YouTube community since Oct. 2007 and you probably wonder why you only have 2 friends here...this review was a free service to you and you feel the need to piss all over it...nice! I guess someone was mean to you today and you thought (ha ha...not the right choice of words there) it would make you feel better to give someone you don't even know, will probably never meet a hard time. Have a great life!

  • @greengtrs ... my nuts..

  • @juanshaggymierda witty comeback!

  • dope jazz bud!

  • Hey man. Nice bass. Can you make me a list with the song you play? Greets

  • Very nice sound ,from this Fender i like very much , quality Fender US bass is the best of course !...

  • that amp is using this video?

  • This was a Marshall BassState B-65...small but nice for the home.

  • Tu es muy fantastico!!! Me gusta muy muy mucho

  • @DreamOfWaking21

    Muy muy mucho?

    Tu es?

  • i'm a noob at spanish....XD did i say something wrong?

  • @DreamOfWaking21

Its different to say very very much... that muy muy mucho...

I like "a lot of much"...

. -Me gusta muchisimo (correct way)

An is Eres fantastico, o tu eres fantastico, you are fantastic...

Tu es muy fantastico = You is very fantastic

    lol...

  • HAHA thanks.

Im in my first year of spanish....with a D

    HAHA

    complicated language.

  • @DreamOfWaking21 Actually, compared to languages such as German and English, Spanish is a very basic language.

  • this one or an american deluxe jazz bass or a g&l l2000? please give reasons.

  • What feels best and sounds best to you?

If you want more details than that answer, keep in mind that time = $

    send some $ please...

  • @greengtrs money is no problem my budget is around 2000-2500 and it is enough for the bass' that i listed. from what i listened g&l is one step ahead. wihch one would you choose from the 3 that i listed.

  • I sent you a message but like I said in the first response, it's what feels and sounds best to you...but I will say that there are so many nice basses in the Fender Jazz family of basses that you should widen your choices before narrowing them down...do you like passive or active electronics...classic or more modern feel...bright or deep sound...G & L is high quality but not really "better", just different...just like the Deluxe is not really better, just different.

  • i'd go for this one, or the deluxe

the g&l has good tone options, but a fender is a statement aswell as a great bass

  • i'd go with an eden wt550..

  • hey there.. i have the same bass ;) can you tell me something about your marshall amp? im about to buy one.. do you recomend it?? thanks man.. very good reviews..

  • @STcarpediem Dude buy an ampeg SVT you wont be sorry i swear.if you can get a old one with rocker switches. 300 watts its ( SVT) And im not a salesman. The power and tone is unlike anything else. Ask around. With a ampeg svt 8x10 cab. MAN! I will never buy another amp as long as i live. They are a little priceE. But worth every cent . EBAY I love mine so much I had to say something to you.BASS rules Peace brother!

  • dude, whats the exact model of that bass?

im trying to buy one exactly like yours

but i need the exact model and color dude

    please tell me

forgive mi bad english, im mexican (:

  • It was a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Blizzard Pearl. Gracias!

  • Man, i love the sound of an Jazz bass. However im saving up money for a Hofner HCT 500, is there any good starter Jazz bass for a little smaller price?

  • Find a used Mexican made Standard Jazz bass...they are great for the money...I've got a demo of one on here...look for "60th Anniv Fender Standard Jazz Bass for Sale Demo/Review".

  • Today's jazz basses sound like shit!!!

  • lol you play the same riff at the beginning of like all of your bass demo vids

  • I don't play much bass so I guess it's my comfort zone...it does give you a good means of comparing the different basses in the different videos...but I'll work on it...I'm trying to stay out of my comfort zone on my guitar videos lately too...

    Thanks for watching...

  • It's not a bad thing just something I noticed :)

  • no seria usar mejor una pua para ese tipo de bajo?

  • I like fingers best for bass (it is personal though and depends on the sound you want...and how fast and clear you need to play the part). If I really want the best sound, I would cut my nails short on my right hand but I am really a guitar player and use them for the guitar so keep them a little long. Google helped me to translate English to Spanish...

    Thanks for watching!

  • Best bass period

  • Good bass. Not the best though. There are many "best basses".

  • sacale sonido por dios... es un fender americano........

  • It might be the atheist in me, but if you pray long enough, it's bound to heal. Like if you pray for rain, it'll come. Go to a doctor, and remember that if "God" was so great, why doesn't he come down and fix all of our problems- the world's in a horrible state, and he's probably in heaven sipping Tequila surrounded by hot chicks.

  • If you want TheTylerGeissler to see your remark, you need to post it as a reply to his...just saying...

And the unfortunate truth for us as humans here on earth is that God (whether you believe in Him or not...and believing we evolved from some cess pool takes a much greater leap of faith in my opinion) gives us free will to choose...historically we have chosen poorly as our current mess shows. But he still loves us and gives us hope. You don't have to be religious or go to church to find it.

  • amen bro, what an encouragement. sick jazz bass btw. I have a stingray 5 but im starting to dig that jazz bass tone

  • though I do not like what you are saying I will defend to the death your right to say it. lol family guy...but anyways I'm catholic and in the bible god gave us free will, the shitty world that you and I live in is in the state its in because of man not because of god. Why should god fix our problems if he didn't create them?

  • which hand ?mabye pick lol

  • I have a question for any guitar or bass player. When I was five years old I got one of my fingernails ripped off, it was the ring finger, and when it grew back it grew a lot more secure. Whenever I play with that finger now it's very painful. Can anybody give me some advise on what to do?

  • Uh, go see a Doctor...

    Sorry...I know that is obvious...

I believe in the power of prayer...God gave me an instantaneous physical healing one night in church when I had basically given up hope, so I KNOW it is possible. I couldn't even hold or shake hands the pain was so severe and now it is gone. I'll make a video and share that soon as it happened just recently.

Which hand? It is probably some sort of nerve damage...it might be more sensitive now.

  • Definitely go consult a doctor. Either that, or you can pray about it first. Power of prayer, always works with the right faith.

  • does arctric white american standard jazz basses can come with white pickguard? i dont like the tortoise one =/ pls answer me :D im about to buy my own one :D

  • You can replace the pickguard yourself...they are cheap and it's only a few phillips head screws. Don't buy for looks...buy for feel and sound...no 2 are alike...play them and buy the one that feels and sounds "right". If you can't do that, buy from someone who can pick a good one for you...probably not going to happen at a big "box" store (but there can be some good guys in those places sometimes so I'm not saying "never").

  • I have a '96, and an '01...I like them better than the newer basses, because they're a little heavier. That gives them more natural lows. I also have an '01 5 string. I run them through a GK 800RB. They are great for any type of music as long as you know how to set up your amp...If you see my vids, they sound a little thin...my little practice amp is on its way out...

  • change your pickguard.

white jazz basses are cool only with a tortoise red pickguard.

  • This one is Silver and that would look ugly...but I think you are right...the whites look great with tortoise shell.

Of course this bass is long gone though...

  • oh another thing i forgot to mention about my 2001 california corona jazz bass the neck is all craked up,sure are good quality fenders lol

  • Sry, but my Squier Jazz Bass sounds the same o_O even a bit more moody ...

  • You might have an amazing Squier...it happens...just not often. Then again, if you put your bass right next to this one with the same strings and set up, I doubt it would be too close. But in the end all that matters is that you are having fun playing. Enjoy! God Bless! And thanks for watching!

  • well i compared it to an equal stringed Fender Mexico and it did sound better ;)

I guess i was really lucky with mine, cause the sound got better in the 5 years ...

    Yes thx, too :)

  • I have played some amazing Squier's over the years...I've got a demo on here for an old Japanese Squier guitar...I wish I had kept it...it was really nice. Robin Trower used to have a line up of about 8 or 9 Strats and one of them was a Japanese Squier! Don't ever sell it (you won't get much for it and it will be very hard to replace it)...keep it as a 2nd bass even if you buy something else.

  • Have a look under your scratch plate hope your not shocked like I was with a huge great hole drill in the body for no reason and a channel routed out from the knobs to the pick ups with exposed wiring. Id never buy another unless its was pre 80s.

  • All I care about is how it sounds (and how it feels in my hands)...it could be drilled to look like Swiss cheese under that pickguard for all I care as long as it has that sound...and this one did...which is not to say that they all do...no 2 are exactly alike and not every one is perfect...but thank God they still use actual wood for all the inconsistency that it brings, it also brings personality to the table. They do build good ones now...I would say that this is one of their best "periods".

  • I waited years to get a so called American quality Fender,I was very disapointed in the end after taking off the scratch plate to see what a mess it is under there,I wanted it to have a natural sun burst look.

You have to admit they are not what they used to be,now they are just mass produced, and what's the point in using wood and routing it away.

  • Did you buy it new that way?

  • yes i did buy it like that brand new from the states,if fenders were cars they'd Fords in other words crap hyped up.

  • the sond qulity is crap.

  • not at all

  • sounds like crap...

  • narbengewebe your face is crap

  • Haha you sound like crap nigga. ;)

  • does anyone know a good jazz finger-style EQ for a 7 band EQ?? thanks

  • EQ settings totally depend on the amp and/or speakers you are running it into and upon the volume you have it at...your ears perceive mids differently at different volume levels...from memory it is called the fletcher-munson curve...bottom line, trust your own ears...

Also, if you boost something, cut something else so you aren't getting a totally distorted gain boost from your EQ.

    Thanks for watching!

  • thanks alot! great playing by the way!

  • i have one, same color. It´s just a standard for a bass player, and for many, the best bass in the world! Wish i hade a 5-string also!

  • yo what amp r u using?

  • Tks for your info. About the schecter, i saw it in e bay, but it´s gone... someone told me, thet the schecter was a japanese model, very sweet and playable....i´ve benn looking for it but it´s like triyng to find a relic or something.. i don´t think so, anyway, can anyone tell me the model? tks

  • @rockingbuddah, It was probably a Squire Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass

  • THIS IS A AM STANDARD IDIOT !

  • Sometime ago, i saw a fender bass with only one pick up at the neck and the headstock like the telecaster guitar. Can anyone tell me wich model is it? There is also, a schecter bass model with the same specs, but i haven`t found it... i'm interested on one of those bass guitars....

  • Some sort of old '50's P-bass (probably a reissue). The 51 reissue has the Telecaster neck but has a single coil pickup closer to the middle (and a real funky looking pickguard)...there's another one I've seen with a humbucking pickup near the neck...can't remember now...I'll write back if it comes to me. Hopefully someone else will respond here too (and take some of the weight off my shoulders...lol).

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hi, i think you are thinking of the Mike Dirnt signature model.

  • My local music store has a case full of vintage fender instruments that the owner's have collected over the years and they have what I think, off the top of my head, to be a '72? telecaster bass. It has the aformentioned tele headstock, I think an un-contoured body in a P-bass shape, and a humbucker LOOKING pickup in the extreme neck position. I say humbucker looking because the exposed pole pieces are in the same arrangement as a traditonal P-bass pickup, just in a big chrome cover.

  • Looks really good dude!

  • gay

  • 15,483 other visitors so far didn't think so, but hey, you are entitled to your own stupid, ignorant opinion. This is a demo/review by the way...not a venue to show off my skills...and it worked to sell my bass immediately and also works for those thinking about getting one as they can hear what one sounds like and get a better idea if it will work for them than a written review could provide...and for what it's worth I'm a guitar player anyways, not a bass player...

  • Man, I was just jokin'

  • How was I supposed to know that?

  • is this standard jazz bass built in mexico?

  • This one was a USA model, but I'll be doing a Standard Mexican made one I just got in mint condition real soon...it's Wine Red and you can see it in the backround of my most recent couple of videos if you look real hard...

  • The new american standard 2008 is a excellent instrument.

  • Well if you were thinking of buying one I would personally go for the jazz because you can get a precision-like tone (best of both worlds I guess) from using the neck pickup alone and it's easier to play (in my opinion).

If you're still unsure, check out YouTube and just search jazz bass or precision bass and try and find a high quality video to compare sounds :)

    Hope that helped again :)

    I don't have either

  • haha yea helped alot.

    thanks guys

  • whats the diff between a jazz bass and a precision bass?

  • A jazz bass has two single coil pickups whereas a precision bass has a single split-coil pickup which is beefier like a humbucker. The jazz bass has a thinner and slimmer neck, opposite for precision bass. Hope that helped.

  • oh okay.thanks alot.

    but in terms of sound?

the jazz sounds lighter and the prec sounds fuller and thicker?i play guitar but plan on doing a one man band thing.

  • You could say that. I always think of the Precision being much more of a thump type sound, while the Jazz is thinner. That's not to say you can't make a P-Bass sound similar to a J and vice versa with enough effects, etc. though.

  • Personally i would go for the jazz bass. It is much more versatile and if you turn the bridge pickup off it has more or less the same sound as the p-bass. But thats just my personal opinion.

  • Do you know how to make a p bass sound similar to a j bass or what kind of effects you would have to use?

  • That is certainly a challenge. Everything about the P bass lends itself to the P bass tone. Specifically, the pickup, and the pickup position. The P uses a humbucker and is placed smack dab in between the bridge and neck. Because it doesn't have the advantage of two pickups, you will not be able to get that lively Jazz tone. However, with the right EQing, you might be able to get a decent facsimile of the J's neck pickup. I'd say roll back the bass, boost the mids, high mids, and treble.

  • You sound just like Jack Black! Talk just like him, and the same voice!

  • Give me a good deal on this. Ggreat playing by the way.

  • This is why I hate jazzes...

every time I've tested one, it sounds like crap, and then some one else manages to play it, and it sounds amazing. This bass sounds terrific. Just like Timmy C.

  • TimmyD045 why I hate jazzes is because everytime someone plays one they always use that farty sound, and it sucks. Everyone wants to be a clone of Jaco Pastorious. Jaco was amazing, but I wouldn't want to sound like him, I'd like to learn from them. That farty sound is so unappealing. Not sure why 90% of jazz guys wanna sound so generic. Fender is the best bass, but I don't think many bass players try to sound unique.

  • this one sound good tho...

  • TimmyD045 yes you are so right it sounds fantastic, and that is why I wish these guys would test out the precision pick up more. Check out Jerry Scheff's sound, now that is a bass sound. It's dirty and beefy

  • Yes you are right it does

  • well i think thats the thing about bass players, i find we have a unique style. it could be the way they fret it or pluck it, its still were we get our "uniqueness" but that's just my opinion.

i very much agree with fenders amazing quality but again, look at how victor wooten plays, im sure if i played his bass it would sound totally different, and im sure if he played mine he would still sounds like victor wooten.

  • misfitadictpistol great reply. If you notice, a lot of vetran bass players tend to have that very seasoned sound. I think it comes with years of finger developement, as your talent evolves to higher levels. Now, I respect Victor Wooten's playing, I just don't like his sound. I prefer the sound of Paul McCartney, Jerry Scheff, Marus Miller, Billy Sheehan{without the effects}, Geezer Butler. I love beefy clear, but raw gritty growly bass sounds.

  • HA farty sound. I totally agree with you mate. I've got that bass and I try to avoid making it sound like my ass. Great bass though.

  • Nigwump lol. Nice to know their are more people out there that try for a great sound.

  • i preferr rickenbacker but to each his own

  • apassageto2112 Rickenbacker is a gorgeous bass guitar. I tried one years ago, but have never really pursued them. They have an amazing sound.

  • the rickenbacker is indeed better. But i don;t know where you come from but in Europe they're really hard to find and expensive!!

  • yea, but look at the price differance

  • I just purchased a model 2008, black with maple keyboard...this new Fender jazz has a beautiful stamp, with good punch and it is a lightweight instrument.

  • you are using a crap amp correct?

  • There is a Marshall B65 in description. I have the same and it is really crappy.

  • it sounds awesome but just one question:

does it always sound like its supposed to be playing jazz, or can it sound like say, Re Education Through Labor (rise against), without sounding like your trying to play funk. I just want to make sure because I'm looking into this bass as a good starter and I'm not interested in playing jazz, I'm interested in playing modern music.

  • they call it a jazz bass because of the body shape. this bass is the rock bass, p bass is essentially a punk rock bass or the original. the "jazz" has nothing to do what it is made for. but this bass is good for jazz, i used to have one when i play in my jazz band. now a have an American deluxe p bass.

  • Both Precsion and Jazz Bass are made for all kind of styles.

Jamerson was playing funk (motown) on a Precision with flatwound strings. There are no rules. Carol Kaye used to play jazz with a Precsion + flatwound and pick.

It's just a question of sound, do you prefer a deep low tone or a medium tone ? To get both kinds of sounds there are "Precision Special" basses with P+J mics.

  • I know I'm just saying.

  • Thats funky!!!

  • very nice... i bought the five string version!!!

some nice sound outta them!! hows the action on yours?

  • Thanks! The action on this one was just perfect right out of the box which is rare...I can make almost any guitar or bass play great but I didn't have to do anything to this one!

  • Yes, the bass its beautiful, I recommend it a 100%

    Sorry for my bad english

    Good Luck

  • Thanks!

  • I have just my brabd new 2008 jazz bass in Olympic White, Its just amazing!!!

  • Cool. Olympic White is the best color for the jazz bass. I want to buy the same.

  • Nice demo. I wish more people would do this service. I accidently rated it a 4 but meant to press 5 stars. Sorry

  • Thanks! I do feel this takes the whole review process to the next level...I'll bet more and more companies will start to do this...budget allowing (as long as it doesn't cut into executive bonuses...lol). Thanks for watching and rating (it's the thought that counts...)!
