i have a design i like and have cut it out of asetate-like clear plastic but whenever i spray it the lines arent defined and holes (in the stencil) close together just make the paint blob together and my image becomes blurry and not great. any ideas?? is it the matereal?
@justforfunnystuff There are a few things you can do. The paint might be gathering under the stencil itself, so use some spray adhesive on the back side. Also when you spray, keep the can about a foot away from the stencil. Spray in short bursts in a sweeping motion across the stencil, or in spots, but again do this in bursts. If there's a local art store or head shop (interestingly enough) near you, you can find some spray can tips that have multiple purposes and dispersion methods.
@Powiis Cheapest? Honestly whatever you can find. I happened to have some cardstock laying around for this stencil here. Sometimes if you're lucky enough to work at a school who's throwing away their old laminated maps, you can grab those before they head to the dumpster. Other materials you can use are cereal boxes, wrapping paper, or find an art supply/random crap surplus store in your area if you have one.
@bendikn You sure could, just convert the image to Black and White, and up the contrast as much as you can while making sure the image is still recognizable. The posterize it to two colors.
I sprayed the back of the layers with 3m spray adhesive. If you coat the back and let it dry (for as long as it takes you to travel to yoru location, like about 10 minutes) it becomes tacky enough to stay in place, and you'll be able to remove it, and use it again.
@Svenburchard I'm not sure what you mean by this. the adhesive spray dries after about one minute, but then keeps its stickiness, and allows you to use it more then once on a variety of surfaces. If it looses its tack after a while you can always apply more. Are you talking about like, a hot glue gun?
what paper you're using ? :)

Can you use hot adhesive? I got a adhesive-gun, and it seems to dry out within 2-3 minutes.

@DaijiHz Thanks for the reply... Yeah I got a heating gun which makes the glue fluid, but after 1 minute it's completely dry.
