I've never seen this film but everyone seems to say it's really good.. I was pretty creeped out during the trailer, to be honest, and I don't think I want to see it.
great film . I recently watched ET again and was amazed by how modern america looked for 1981 (1982) . I believe america was so far ahead of its time in the 1980's and that the rest of the world has only recently caught up .
why is it that when you look up a good movie, some SHITTY musician make a song with the same name so when you look it up on youtube all you find it the song?!
The effects are outdated, but I saw this film in the theater when I was eight, and the magic is still the same when I see it now with my kids... That, after all, is the point... isn't it?
That said, Drew Barrymore grew up to be one hot chick..
as corny as people thought it was .. i loved this movie... and GIRLS loved ET's finger on his home planet....seriously watch the Robot Chicken ET version on here .. its hillarious
I hope an original theatrical version is available forever. I'm all for updating, but remember how real Star Wars really was before computer rendering? E.T. will forever be the same to me.
When will ET be reissued on bluray this year? I hear he's putting in the 1982 version in this set. I'm not going to double dip since I already own ET on two disc DVD, including the infamous walkie-talkie version.
Can anyone answer this question for me? In the original movie towards the end when ET and the kids are riding their bikes down the road about to fly off, the police were armed with shotguns. In the remastered movie edition the police were armed with walkie-talkies?? I never understood this. The shotguns gave that scene a much more serious and suspense-building tone; but when the police are armed with walkie-talkies, it really tones that pivotal scene down a few notches. What's the deal??
i dont know why from the start (since elementary)i hate this movie and no one can convince me. something about humanizing everything, makes me sneer at hollywood all the time. somewhere real extra terrestrial will look and shame us for this. like bambi or free willy.
i cried when i watched this as a kid, i cried when i watched this recently for the first time since i was a kid. and i really dont give a shit. i love this movie

you're mistaken. ET was originally released on June 11 1982 and re-released on March 22 2002. Believe me. I know. I'm a die hard ET fan. You can ask me any ET trivia question you can think of.
@deoxynchro Spielberg re-edited the original. He digitally removed the guns from the original and replaced them with walkie-talkies in the 2002 version. He also added a scene and an extension of a scene in the 2002 version.
thats one of my favorite movies, and my most favorite actor is in it. can anyone guess who it is? HINT: he was in a movie about "greaser" and "soc" gangs, super hot, main character: CTH (finish the sentence)
First time i saw it I was five, & for some wierd reason I was scared during the part when ET was in the bathroom, and some guys in wierd astronaut looking things walked in O.O But still my favorite movie <3
This is one of the greatest movies of all time. I watched it a couple days ago, and I cried for the entire end of the movie. I was like, " Don't die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". It was also really funny too. Neon, hes friendly! He may LOOK scary, but hes nice as can be. :) Hes just an old, lost little creature who needs a friend. Heck, if you fall and scrape your knee, he'd do anything to heal you and make you feel better. :) Thats why his finger glows. It heals things.
I would MAKE you watch it with me. lol You should totally see it! Don't let E.T die! :) Its a GREAT movie where a gentle little old botanist alien befriends a little boy and the little boy helps him get back home. :) Please, oh please, people don't let E.T die! Watch it and show it to your kids when they're old enough! :) I don't wanna be Eliot screaming "You're killing him! You're killing him!" and crying here in ten years. :)
Thank God they brought it back to theaters. When I saw it, I cried my eyes out. It was, and still remains as one of the best film-watching experiences of my life.
I remember back in grade school, we watched this on the last day of school. All the guys were making fun of everyone before watching it, "i bet you, you're gonna cry! hahaha". When ET "died", I noticed alot of them got up to get a kleenex and tried to cry in secret. hahaha good memories.
I don't know why anyone was scared of this movie... E.T was one of my favorites as a kid. Maybe the part where E.T walking towards Elliot in the dark was a little spooky.
my parent tought it was a good idea to watch this movies as a family when i was 6 but no! i was scared to death! i couldnt sleep for a whole year! thanks to that movie im still scared of the dark! this movie still treaks me out!
Unfortunately, this is not the movie I saw as a kid. Why do they have to add new footage and actually changing stuff, like replacing guns with flashlights? Especially the latter bothers me, to actually change scenes. Boo!
It's my favorite movie of all times, I was born in 1982 and have watched it uncountable times... today at the age of 29 and knowing it all, i watch this trailer and brings tears to my eyes... I can't get over the scene where they have to say goodbye :'(
